Come and chat about fashion, make up and anything glittery and frivolous. We'll take your bad hair day seriously and you never have to apologise for a new bag Grin

And if you happen to know where I can find comfortable but stylish trainers in kakhi or dark brown you are particularly welcome (Blatant abuse of thread setting up privileges) Wink

Have been reviewing my wardrobe again and have identified the following 3 items as having the potential to be very useful for spring / summer so I need to focus on buying things to work with them rather than the rather random shopping I tend to do!!

Hush jumpsuit for going out and casual weekend wear
Uniqlo navy shirtdress for work and maybe weekend lunches out etc
Kakhi shirtdress for work

I have these R&B flat sandals which work with all three.
These Gabor taupe wedges are ok (but would like something a bit funkier) for work with the two dresses.
I could wear orange or black heels with the jumpsuit on a night out.

So help me please – suggest styling options, footwear, jackets and accessories that would work with at least 2 of the 3 so I can make best use of them over the coming months. I'd like a jacket / blazer but having tried a few on yesterday I need shorter, more cropped styles rather than standard blazer length. Open though to idea of cardigans or different jacket styles too.

Nice Blazers kitty. Ive had a trying on session and will take a couple of my other going out tops with me so all is good.

lib I'm just about to go and ponder your question....

QueenC · 29/03/2016 14:23

I can't seem to link pin images as I use the pin app rather than website and by default it just seems to go to that. I'm going to try and send you some pins instead.

Ive seen a few shirt dresses with heels so your dresses may work with the florets too. When ive looked at jumpsuits with jackets they all seem to Blazers but there's a lovely picture of jessica alba with a bomber jacket on. Woukd that work or too casual for you?

QueenC · 29/03/2016 14:35

How about a cropped biker jacket?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/03/2016 14:48

Kitty I didn't have that problem but had another one where my Pin It button wasn't working... try clearing your browser cache? (will be somewhere in settings or options depending on the browser)

Lib great idea to plan a few key outfits around things you know you'll wear lots. What about a short/cropped belted blazer-type jacket? And shoes, I think a block heel sandal about 2-3 inches would be good with all 3.

libertydoddle · 29/03/2016 14:48

Thanks for the pins QueenC. Have just popped out. Will look properly later. Xx

The closest thing I can find to the type of jacket I'm thinking of is this...

QueenC · 29/03/2016 15:02

Sorry, may have sent them multiple times Grin.

My suggestions to try would be...
Cropped biker jacket
Belted cardigan with the dress
Slip on trainers (r&b ones!)
If you want to wear dresses now with tights then you need funky Mary Jane type shoes or smalle heeled brogue/loafer

Dreamqueen · 29/03/2016 16:28

Shock at that bar bill dry

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/03/2016 17:21

QueenC love all the pins you're posting for Lib!

FWIW Lib I see you suiting the sort of things Kirstie Allsopp wears (in less twee prints and colours obv). She wears a lot of belted cotton shirt dresses, which really suit you.

Cranagh · 29/03/2016 18:16

Sorry about your MIL, Karcheer.

Hope you are enjoying your break, Amber Flowers and Wine

And Dry, enjoy the gin!

Glad your sister liked the Zara jeans, Liberty! I am wearing mine today. I was in your county at the weekend, had a fab time. Do you like this kind of jacket for work? Not sure if the colour is right.

Hope your dad is doing well, Shop.

I have this Hush cashmere jumper on the way, bought with the most recent discount and an extra £10 off. It's a good colour for me.

shopafrolic · 29/03/2016 18:24

saw these and thought of Lib and Bernice

Drywhitethanks · 29/03/2016 18:24

Kitty nice Blazers. I saw a v chic older lady today working a beautiful black blazer with ankle lgrazing jeans, cream cashmere polo neck, sleek white/grey structured Bob, Chloe Marcie in black, patent black loafers.....wanted to tell her how stunning she looked but didn't dare not like me but persuaded me I really need a fantastic blazer. Want very fitted at waitst , sharp silhouette and quality fabric.....black would work best but navy would be good.

Liberty I'm going to check out pins

shopafrolic · 29/03/2016 18:26

any good for you Lib?
or
these? too blingy?

Drywhitethanks · 29/03/2016 19:26

Tonight's gin drinking outfit....black sleeveless shift dress with exposed gold zip especially for QueenC because I know how much she loves an exposed zipGrin Whistles suede heels, MJ bag, red lips......probably over dressed but I don't care !

And I'm going to read the gin menu before ordering tonight.......

QueenC · 29/03/2016 19:29

Grin at dry. Enjoy your gin.

KittyHello · 29/03/2016 21:19

Thanks for the blazer love, hoping they are as nice as they look irl

Have resorted to using Pin on the iPad where it works perfectly fine.

Lib personally I'd go for the Florette's in black with the khaki jumpsuit, a lot more versatile than orange and you'll be able to wear them with loads of clothes, i.e. jeans on a night out, when you want to be smart at work, they are very comfortable and I can wear them all day. I wear them to work and on nights out, a very hard wearing shoe and could get away with wearing them with your shirt dresses depending on the occasion

Re: jackets, is a denim jacket too casual or are they not you? Ideal for dressing down/casual.

Dry check the price 1st!

shopafrolic · 29/03/2016 21:24

Dry have fun.
Had a good chat with DM tonight trying to plan for DF's future. Really difficult to try and figure out how normal life continues. Will be a struggle next week when DS is off school as I don't want him on the ward. Have managed to find a bit of cover for the next few days so should be ok for a while. Not long till holiday. Need me some sunshine and want to borrow some of Blingy's bikini bling

VivaVegas · 29/03/2016 21:40

Sounds like a very tough time Shop, are there any local holiday clubs you can use that would help?
Am staying with family for a few days, don't think DM is impressed that I've headed to bed now but im still so tired from not sleeping and I just need a bit of time on my own to relax, just not in he mood for staying up late, chatting and drinking wine etc. Don't mean to be rude but these are my only days off work while I'm here so I need to be a bit selfish as I'm back at work as soon as I get home.
Had a wander round had shops earlier and bought nothing! The colours seem really muted and dull and I fancy a nice bright top (fuchsia, red or cobalt) and just didn't see anything in those colours at all. If anyone sees any lovely bright tops in these colours please let me know!

maradesbois · 29/03/2016 21:57

Evening,

Am on hols, just popping in to say hi and belated happy Easter.

Amber , you too blingy

Karcheer very sorry for your loss, hope your dh is bearing up.

Dry sounds like you're having a whale of a time but bloody hell that bar bill was steep even for London. Love a good g&t though. Roof terrace of the windmill pub in Mayfair is good spot for a more reasonably priced but good one on a sunny afternoon.

Blair I have customised stans from the website, I got black smooth leather with Ivory ostrich on the heel only but in hindsight is too small to show, should've got ostrich all over. Would like some all white ones for summer.

Gutted I missed this equipment dress on outnet, so me but sold out in my size.

Spotted this one for you kitty but all the small sizes have gone, would presume you are xs or s

libertydoddle · 29/03/2016 22:37

QueenC thanks for the ideas board Flowers. I hadn’t thought of belting a cardigan over the dresses, will definitely try that out at the weekend when I have some time to play around with ideas. Your board has made me realise some belts will really help with styling all 3 items. I have a black biker and an oatmeal knitted one so will also try those out. I only returned the R&B trainers yesterday Smile. Was difficult to part with them –don’t anyone be shocked if I repurchase--

Blair I agree I need block heeled sandals – I have a pair pinned on my secret ‘maybe’ pin board, will link if I order. I do like Kirstie Allsopp’s style although she usually wears very high heels which I can’t do so well.

I like that CdC jacket Cranagh. Good to hear you had a good weekend!

Those Nine West espadrilles are appealing shop. I think I’d like them to be slightly less chunky though. I must go try out some of those styles. Probably what I need to save me from looking potentially too twee!

Kitty I already own the orange Florettes! Bought them in Christmas sales. They won’t get a lot of wear but I love the colour. My black heels are from Hobbs and I get good use from those, you are right, they would work well with the jumpsuit on a night out. . I would like a denim jacket, I have an old Dorothy Perkins one which is fine for holidays etc but if I saw the right one I would upgrade.

Viva hope you get a good night sleep. Holidays with extended family can be exhausting.

Shop thinking of you Flowers

Shame about the Equipment dress Mara. I love that leopard one – tempted but will resist!

Dry tonight’s outfit sounds great. Hope you are having a great time.

One are you in London? Have the AB’s worked yet on your arm? Sounds very uncomfortable.

Hi all, many thanks for the hugs and squeezes. Much love to you all, especially AmberThanks

I have been at home today. Popped out for lunch with dh alone (gasp!) and wore my new Muubaa biker jacket over my lovely warehouse leopard print top and j crew jeans, and clutching my Mulberry Roxanne. It was one of those casual days where I felt good and dh said I looked great and very hip.Smile lets just pretend I am hip

Lib, I love love love that khaki jumpsuit.

Shop, get some Accessorize bikini bling! With your long torso you would look smokin' hotGrin

Mara, holidays are frustrating for bargain spotting aren't they?!!!! Hope you're having a good time.

Viva, deep breaths love, deeeep breaths. this will be me from Thursday

Dry, love the outfit. For £45 I might have licked the glasses to make sure I had drank every last bit.Blush

shopafrolic · 29/03/2016 23:07

Do you wear it in the pool Blingy or do you have to remove it all? I can't wear cheap jewellery - I'm allergic to loads of metals..... Otherwise I'd try it. This holiday can't come soon enough X

Longislandicetee · 30/03/2016 07:56

That's a shame Shop, sounds just like my dm. She wears 18ct or 22 ct jewellery. I leave my earrings, necklace and rings on in the pool. If I have lots of bangles I will take gem off but if it's just the one, I leave it on. It means they only survive about 2 years worth of holidays looking good.
