How much makeup do you wear?

MarvinGorilla · 17/03/2016 11:54

On a daily basis I mean.

Personally I wear a wee bit of foundation (got acne scarring and red spots), a tiny bit of concealer on any dark areas, powder, pink blush and eyebrow pencil. I am off mascara at the mo as I've got an eye infection but I'm not missing it, I like looking natural.

So tell me, how much do you wear?

Day to day none, I will put on a spf moisturiser most mornings and lip balm during the day but I only wear makeup if I'm going out somewhere.

Lifeisontheup2 · 17/03/2016 18:24

On work days none apart from lip balm, going out tinted lip balm and sometimes mascara, used to wear a lot more but can't be arsed now.

Vaseline and BB Cream. takes approx. 1 min. hurray! I don't like the feeling of eyeshadow, it makes my eyes feel really tired and heavy for some reason.

Arpege · 17/03/2016 18:30

Foundation, bronzer, highlighter, blush, primer, eyeshadow (usually 3), mascara, white liner, black liquid liner, lipstick

None at the mo, I have a 3 week old and am far too tired to bother!

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/03/2016 18:33

Primer, foundation, blush, illuminating powder on my face. Nude eyeshadow and mascara, Benefit Brow-zings. Red lipstick.

I rarely bother with proper eye makeup, but often do flicky eyeliner. Quite happy to skip face stuff, but am never without red lips even if there's nothing else on my face. It's just my "look".

YaySirNaySir · 17/03/2016 18:39

Blush, Mascara, natural eye shadow, nude lip gloss for day.
All the above but darker eye shadow and pink lip gloss for going out at night.

hefzi · 17/03/2016 18:41

None - but not because I have good skin or anything (had dark circles and puffy eyes since toddlerhood, and uneven skintone since working outside in Middle East summers as a twenty something): just because I am bone idle Grin

Thankfully, I have a job where it's not important to look groomed!

FenellaFieldmouse · 17/03/2016 18:43

Hate the look and feel of tinted moisturiser, foundation or concealer so am currently not using any of them.
Eye liner pencil.
Maybe a bit of pale shimmery eye shadow.
Always, lipstick. Rimmel Heather Shimmer.
Maybe some Bourjois blusher.

jayho · 17/03/2016 18:50

light weight foundation, crayon eyeshadow, mascara, blusher, lip liner, lipstick

takes about 4 mins at various traffic lights on the way to work Blush I am that woman.....

Purplebluebird · 17/03/2016 18:51

Mascara and eyeliner

Ikeameatballs · 17/03/2016 19:09

La Roche-Posay Bb cream,
Benefit Boing concealer
Benefit Hoola bronzer
Benefit cream blusher stick
Nude eyeshadow
Benefit Roller lash mascara
Eyebrow pomade

Sometimes I use a bit more eyeshadow and liner but not usually on a day to day basis.

DuchessOfWeaseltown · 17/03/2016 19:16

On a daily basis:

Clinique City Block on my upper lip to even out slight pigmentation and protect from sun damage making it worse (I have to say the spf 40 in it is BRILLIANT as a few years ago before I discovered City Block I had really quite noticeable melasma on upper lip and now after keeping it completely covered from daylight all these years, it has faded to barely noticeable)

Shimmery but natural highlighter on cheekbones

Occasional dash of nude lipstick if I'm feeling in need of being fractionally glammed up!

I have a 3yo so don't have time for anything more and I'm a SAHM/work from home so no need to look polished for an office. I do fele better with just the minimal highlighter though, it just finishes my skin and makes me feel/look a little bit less knackered and mumsy.

Oh, the olden days when I'd have a really enjoyable 15-20 min makeup routine for big evenings out... I used to really enjoy that.

These days when I do put more makeup on for a rare night out, I still have to do it in about 5 mins flat as I'm always rushing after DD's bedtime. Then I add blusher, powder eyeliner with a flat brush and very volumising, almost false-looking mascara. Very matt nude lipstick.

This thread has made me realise how much I miss being able to spend a bit of time just sort of playing around with textures and different shades...

YorskshireRolf · 17/03/2016 19:17

Lipstick if I can be bothered. Maybe three or four days a week. Apart from that nothing. I have a reasonably even skin tone and I put coconut oil on it if it starts to feel dry or get flaky. I have dark eyebrows which are quite a good shape and long dark lashes so can't be bothered with eye makeup.

If I'm going on a night out I might wear eyeshadow and mascara but it's not a given. I tend to wear makeup for fun rather than improve my looks/have more confidence.

MrsWhirling · 17/03/2016 19:21

Foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, mascara, liquid eyeliner, bronzer, blusher & highlighter. I look quite natural

spornersunited · 17/03/2016 19:32

The whole lot & I even get up at 5.20 am to slap it all on before work !
Primer
Foundation
Blusher / bronzer
highlighter
eyeliner
shadow
mascara
brow wax
lip liner
long wear liquid lipstick
lip gloss
All Sealed with a spritz of setting spray.

I work on a hospital ward where the full faced look is not the norm and did feel a little too made up at first, but then thought 'fuck it'. I wore a full face to give birth so I sure as hell ain't 'toning it down' for work.

Arpege · 17/03/2016 19:35

I don't care about the odd blemish, uneven skin tones, facial hair as logn as theres no full on tom selleck mush, tis all natural I don't feel the need to hide it. I think ive got good skin even if others may not their opinion matters not.

Me neither and I wear a face full of slap all the time. The idea that you wear make up to hide isn't correct, for me anyway. I wear it because I like it and no other reason.

moonfacebaby · 17/03/2016 19:36

Primer, foundation, 2 types of concealer, colour corrective under eye stuff, powder.

Black eye liner, light line of black eyeshadow on my lower lashes, mascara. Brow powder & highlighter for my brow bone.

Bronzer, blusher, highlighter.

All set with a spray of Neals Yard Remedies White tea facial mist.

That sounds like loads, but I think I look quite natural & I need to cover my dark circles, and look less knackered.

Doesn't take longer than about 5-7 minutes either.

Night out might be a heavier eye - smokey, or just some blended bronze Mac eyeshadows. Possibly red lippy, liner & lipcoat.

Yesterday I wore a BB cream mixed with a little moisturiser, mascara and lipstick and found i looked SO made up that I looked like my mother.

Today, mascara and lip balm. I'd rather look natural than motherly.

Belikethat · 17/03/2016 19:42

Eyeshadow and mascara every day of my life.
Making a bit of an effort, I would add eyeliner and pale lipstick.
Going out in the evening I would use foundation and occasionally blush.
I have started using dark eyeshadow on my eyebrows to give them a bit of definition.
I find make up lasts me years and years. I only seem to ever replace mascara.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 17/03/2016 19:45

Just recently ive changed to
BB Cream
Concealer
Eyebrow Pencil
Mascara
Lip Gloss

Until Monday it was
Foundation
Powder
Mascara

LancsHotpot · 17/03/2016 19:46

About seven times more than I did before I started reading S and B and dashing to Superdrug/placing orders with Amazon daily. Amazing how I've managed without all these essentials so far in life really.

What's nude eyeliner, and do I need some?

CauliflowerBalti · 17/03/2016 19:48

Most days - none.

When I need to look vaguely human - eyebrow powder, mascara, undereye concealer.

For meetings with clients/nights out - eyebrow powder, mascara, undereye concealer, eyeliner, a few blended eyeshadow shades, lipstick.

Hate the feeling of foundation and my skin is OK.

Spudlet · 17/03/2016 20:13

Eyebrow pencil, blusher, concealer under the eyes, mascara. I wore more at work, but at the moment my goal is to not look ill... Joys of a new baby!

The first time said baby and I went out solo, I managed to miss one eye with the mascara. I do not know how. But I'm a redhead with pale lashes, so it was a strong look Grin Blush
