How much makeup do you wear?

On a daily basis I mean.

Personally I wear a wee bit of foundation (got acne scarring and red spots), a tiny bit of concealer on any dark areas, powder, pink blush and eyebrow pencil. I am off mascara at the mo as I've got an eye infection but I'm not missing it, I like looking natural.

So tell me, how much do you wear?

Face cream
Primer
foundation
powder
blusher
eyebrow pencil/shape
eye liner
mascara

Every day! Wish I hadn't started it but I can't stop now I would look odd!

Lucyccfc · 17/03/2016 20:28

None for everyday/work/shopping etc.

If I am going out (maybe) once a month, I will use make-up. I like to make an effort and look and feel different when going out, rather than looking no different than I would if I wore make-up every day.

VerbenaGirl · 17/03/2016 20:49

On a daily basis, just concealer - and to be honest, I'll ditch that if my skin is having a good day!

Katarzyna79 · 17/03/2016 20:53

Plomino · 17/03/2016 21:09

None . Getting up at 4 am is bad enough as it is , without having to concentrate about putting my slap on . I'd be trying to lip line my eyelids .

Night out , the whole shebang . I have gone unrecognised at work do's before .

I have a friend who wears that much even if she's just popping out to the shop for 10 minutes Confused

Athrawes · 17/03/2016 22:04

Rather surprised by the amount of make up being worn here - i am clearly underdressed.

My question would be - if you went to a parent teacher evening, or saw the teacher teaching your child, wearing only mascara and lipbalm (or heaven forfend, no make up) would you consider her under dressed or unprofessional?

FlyRussianUnicorn · 17/03/2016 22:11

Athrawes- I couldn't give a shit what other people wear on their face. Their make up abilities don't affect their teaching ability- as long as they aren't sitting their in the middle of lesson applying their makeup, they can crack on and look like Coco the Clown or the Ghost of Christmas past if that's what makes them happy.

Likewise I don't wear makeup for anyone else- i wear it for me

Katarzyna79 · 17/03/2016 22:18

athrawes i haven't met my kids teachers in their new school. but in their previous school i think only one wore lipstick, the rest natural. They were dressed smart or smart casual and looked hard working, that's all that i cared about. I don't think you need make up to look professional that can be projected in your dress, hair do and how you carry yourself? I'm not against make up though each to their own.

5minutestobed · 17/03/2016 22:19

I only wear make up because I have awful acne and it makes me feel better. Everyone else can wear what they like, it doesn't change my opinion of them.

JaceLancs · 17/03/2016 22:22

On a daily basis none
For a special occasion - tinted moisturiser, mascara, eye liner, lip gloss

Sunbeam18 · 17/03/2016 22:32

Foundation, concealer, bronzer, blusher, eyebrow powder, two eyeshadows, eye liner, mascara , lipstick

purplemeggie · 17/03/2016 22:33

Never used to wear any, but I developed very red skin on one cheek a few years ago and I'm self-conscious about it. So these days, good anti-redness foundation, powder, bronzer and mascara (after curling lashes). Takes about 3 or 4 minutes.

Xmasbaby11 · 17/03/2016 22:35

Generally every day I wear

Bb cream L'Oréal
Grey brown eyeshadow Boots no 7
Maybelline mascara

Sometimes I wear liquid eyeliner or brow pencil or lipstick. I've been wearing similar colours for years but different products. I love make up! I don't look terrible without it but it makes me feel more groomed and polished.

My nails are nearly always done too.

Forgetmenotblue · 17/03/2016 22:41

@athrawes. I am a teacher and so are all the colleagues I talked about in my previous post! None of us wear make up, maybe a bit of lip balm or sunblock (playground duty!). I couldn't care less what parents think about my wearing make up or not. I care a great deal that they think I'm a good teacher and looking after their child well.

As a parent myself I don't care what the teacher wears or looks like or anything like that. Are they kind? Doing a good job? Does my child like them and feel happy in their class? That's all that matters.

rightsaidfrederickII · 17/03/2016 23:07

Foundation
Under-eye concealer
Powder
Blush (sometimes)
Eyeliner - one for the rims, and a felt-tip type one for flicks

KIM10 · 17/03/2016 23:19

For work concealer mascara bronzer
at weekend foundation blush eyeshadow bronzer concealer mascara lip stick

Don't think makeup will making it on my face after baby is born for a while

ouryve · 17/03/2016 23:20

None.

Wdigin2this · 17/03/2016 23:21

Concealer under eyes, mineral powder and a lick of blush, brow pencil, eyeliner and lots of mascara, and finally, lip liner and lipgloss....and it all takes an average of 6 to 7 minutes!

ouryve · 17/03/2016 23:30

if you went to a parent teacher evening, or saw the teacher teaching your child, wearing only mascara and lipbalm (or heaven forfend, no make up) would you consider her under dressed or unprofessional?

I would neither notice nor care. Just the same as for a male teacher. Actually, I probably would notice if a male teacher was made up, as it's more unusual than a non made up woman.
