The Tauerville Flash samples are really hard to get hold of. They have then at Les Senteurs I think but I find their samples quite stingy at £3.50 for 1ml. A friend gave me a sample of Fruitchouli Flash, which I thought I would detest, but actually it's wonderful. It's peachy and chypre and not at all how I imagined it would be.

MsBojangles · 25/05/2016 12:04

MissB, I'm really enjoying Fire, can you recommend something similar but perhaps spicier/richer?

SOTD appears to be basil purchased yesterday in plant form for cooking...my house now smells like a dirty 'ol Tomcat has been busy Sad

wiltingfast · 25/05/2016 12:18

Is that Ralph Lauren Safari Cresset? I've wanted to try that for ages adn would definitely take some off your hands if you are happy to send to Ireland Smile ???

SOTD ninfeo mio I really love this, one of my very few FBs... tart but fggy and warm. Mmmmmm

teta · 25/05/2016 12:33

I'm wearing Nerolia Bianco today.I was enjoying it until I received a phone call from Dd1 in tears really upset after her Maths As exam.
I now need something soothing, calming and rich as I have a headache.
I have a bottle of Dongkza from Tk Maxx I bought yesterday .Is it worth trying or shall i return it?

cressetmama · 25/05/2016 13:51

Teta, sympathies to you and your DD. It was C2 today wasn't it? DS has had it marked on the diary for months, but withdrew a few weeks ago and is retaking Y12 next year. I shall hear what everyone thought later I expect.

I liked Dongkza (smoky, spicy, bit peppery IIRC) when I had a 2ml sample, but not enough to buy an FB. Well only if it was really, really discounted nearly free.

SoTD is Secrets de Rose (Rosine). The initial blast is full on rose but the end drydown is soft and amber-y, and rather nice. Nothing I have smelled yet surpasses my perfect rose scent (Eau Suave, PdE) but I can't convince myself I need 100ml either, nor can I find anyone who will sell me a 15ml decant of it. For whatever reason, it's not widely stocked.

thisfalseinsight · 25/05/2016 17:50

MissBattleaxe and cressetmama, I did check Les Senteurs, but they only seem to have the full bottles and I didn't see samples for this line (unless I was searching wrong? I have bought samples from them before, so I don't think I was, but who knows!). Frustrating that the Tauerville site has a lovely sample box of 10mls of all 4 perfumes but doesn't ship to the UK! I ended up buying a full bottle, which I hope wasn't a mistake...I have liked most of the other Tauer perfumes I've tried, and I love tobacco and vanilla (as long as it's not too sugary). Fingers crossed!

I'm wearing Tom Ford Noir Femme today but don't particularly like it. Vanilla and amber and not much else on me, which is too sweet and smells a bit teenager-y - although it definitely improved as the vanilla faded and the amber came out more.

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2016 18:36

thisfalseinsight- you're right. I'm thinking of Sotto la Luna Tuberose. It was so hard to get and the only samples I could find were from Les Senteurs. Sorry, I got muddled.

It's very frustrating about Tauer shipping. I can't get hold of any Flash samples, except the one from a friend I mentioned, and they are too expensive to buy blind. I think Tauerville does ship to the UK now, but still no samples. the Tauer site does not ship to the Uk at all.

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2016 18:38

Ms Bojangles. I reckon Fire is a bit like a lighter Shalimar. I find it spicy but light at the same time. It also reminds me slightly of Serge Lutens Chergui, and very, very slightly of Comme Des Garcons Avignon.

FrustratedFrugal · 25/05/2016 19:02

Parfumaria do samples at 4.50€ each (discount for a set), and then there is this option for classic Tauers. But I've missed a slew of recent Tauers because it is so hard to get hold of them.

FrustratedFrugal · 25/05/2016 19:04

No perfume for me today. I found a forest full lilies of valley - real life Diorissimo! It was fab, and then intoxicating gardenias at work. I offered to cancel a meeting in my office but discovered that a coworker is a gardeniaphile.

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2016 19:18

Me too Frugal. I used to always get my mitts on new releases, but still haven't even tried Sotto La Luna Tuberose. It's really frustrating.

CeeBeeBee · 25/05/2016 19:36

Which perfume do you wear if you want a light clean scent? I like Hugo Boss woman and Tommy Girl Jeans but I can't seem to get this one.

cressetmama · 25/05/2016 20:45

falseinsight, I think Les Senteurs make individual samples for personal requests from their testers but charge for doing so. Not cheap at £3.50 per ml, but cheaper than a bottle of something you don't love. Normally reckon to get three or four good tests from a tiny sample, which ought to be enough to decide if it's for you.

MsBojangles · 25/05/2016 21:12

Thank you MissB, I actually ordered a sample of Chergui earlier, amongst other things, so shall enjoy comparing the two. Shalimar is one I love on other people but it never liked me very much, was years ago though so perhaps time to revisit...

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2016 21:21

Try Shalimar cologne. I think it's nearer Fire than Shalimar EDT. Hope you like Chergui! Good choice.

MsBojangles · 25/05/2016 21:21

CeeBeeBee, I favoured light clean scents for years - Molecule 01, JLo Glow (smells like Nivea to me) and Burberry Baby are all still favourites. Not a very sophisticated list, admittedly Grin

MissBattleaxe · 25/05/2016 21:32

Yves Rocher does a fragrance called Clea which smells like Dove. I love it. It's around £15.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 25/05/2016 21:42

Library of Fragrance do a couple of 'fresh' scents I think?

Sotd: Eau de Givenchy. An old miniature. Bit too Eau and not enough Givenchy for me. No grown up III element, or spicy Ysatis-y. Just Eau. I am def not an Eau person.

CeeBeeBee · 25/05/2016 21:46

Funny you should mention JLo Glow Bojangles as I have JLo Still which is very sweet and in my opinion, not suitable for day time use.

cressetmama · 26/05/2016 20:17

No scent today. Obviously not alone in this, as there's been no traffic all day. We must all be enjoying spring and real life. Greetings to everyone.

I'm posting to bump really; can you tell? We are off page one!!!!

MissBattleaxe · 26/05/2016 21:21

Good move cresset. Let's get back on page 1! I tried Magie Noire for the first time today and I absolutely loved it.

MsBojangles · 26/05/2016 21:58

I spent most of the afternoon hacking at my front bushes (rude), my lovely Post Lady was having difficulties getting to my front door.

Scent of the evening is a bargain buy from TKMaxx - L'aime, Lolita Lempick. Coconutty, vanilla with a dash of lime to stop it being a total scrubber (rude). BG is much nicer, sharper and more refreshing.

Magie Noire sounds like coffee but I'm guessing it doesn't smell like it Wink

teta · 27/05/2016 09:00

Eau de Campagne this morning.I love the fresh Tomato Leaf and Basil in this, on a slightly muggy morning. However I find it really doesn't last well.I'm trying to invigorate myself to do the Garden as it needs loads of work. But I've been ill the last few days and keep on waking up at night with an excruciatingly sore throat.
I also picked a couple of sprigs of Lily of the Valley from my garden and it really does smell divine..We used to have an enormous patch until we gravelled the driveway and most of it disappeared.

MissBattleaxe · 27/05/2016 09:23

I love Lily of the Valley. I planted some for the first time this year.

SOTD Papillon Angelique: Mimosa, Orris root and something faintly leathery. Wonderful.

YetAnotherNC · 27/05/2016 09:30

Ooh, MissB what is Magie Noir like? Did you try the new one or a vintage one? That's on my hit list to try one day. May have to go find a sample on eBay now.... Grin

I love Angelique, but I find it disappears on me really fast, bit sad, so I can't justify getting a FB if I can only smell it for 20 minutes. Maybe I'm anosmic to something in I think. I tried Tobacco Rose again yesterday and really enjoyed it. I like/appreciate it much more now than when I got the samples, it's interesting how our nose-preferences evolve.

SOTD Fracas.
