Poison - of course !

FrustratedFrugal · 30/04/2016 05:58

Just wanted to make sure that UK-based perfumistas are aware of Roullier White in East Dulwich - they have a sample program (if the link does not work just type samples into their search bar) and also organize events and sell perfume books. This place looks fantastic. Has anyone visited the shop? I remembered them when I was looking for Smell Bent stockists in Europe.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 30/04/2016 06:17

Oh damn you all. I'm going to have to try this Plum now.

Have any of you used Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream? Crap as a facecream (especially for the £££££s) but it is Poison in a tube. Divine smell.

I uncorked my Tam Dao yesterday. Jury's out at the moment. I didn't expect it to be quite so sweet. I only had a quick drop after my shower last night, so need to have a proper study, but not as keen as I thought I would be.

MissBattleaxe · 30/04/2016 07:55

I adore Tam Dao. It reminded me of my primary school teachers in the 70s but I don't know why.

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2016 09:09

If anyone's interested there's a couple of things being cleared out from 4160's naughty cupboard.

MsBojangles · 30/04/2016 11:39

Anyone else get their new crowd funded samples today? Was a delightful surprise to find my little box this morning.

I went for 9ml of all four of them, Up the Apples and Pears doesn't appeal on first sniff but the rest are rather lovely. Went for The Buddhawood Box today, it's not love for me yet.

MsBojangles · 30/04/2016 12:02

Eurgh, Buddhabox is basically a wooden Sexiest Scent on the Planet.

Why do most of her perfumes smell of that???

cressetmama · 30/04/2016 13:06

My 4160 Tuesday crowd funded lot arrived too, to the accompaniment of incoming flak from DH, DS and DMiL! I also went for the Buddawood box and have only sniffed one so far, but I think I like it. DS reckoned he had smelt much worse...

MissBattleaxe · 30/04/2016 13:18

My crowd fund samples arrived too. I like Flora Psychedelia best so far.

MsBojangles · 30/04/2016 13:25

Oh dear, how much longer have you got to endure DMiL?

Captured by Candlelight is my early fave I think, so far.

YetAnotherNC · 30/04/2016 16:31

Damn you Frugal. I am now signed up with Roullier White... My god, their stock all looks gorgeous.... Enabler...! Grin

Just received MG Fire, and am going to try it tonight... the Fragrance shop sale was just a no-brainer and I was unable to resist. Hope everyone enjoys their various Plums, Lemons and Fires.

thecatfromjapan · 30/04/2016 16:36

MissBattleaxe. I just want to say 'Thank you' - I am wearing my Fragrance Shop purchase of 'Fire' and it's lovely. Smile

cressetmama · 30/04/2016 16:58

Driving MiL home on Wednesday, in her car -- which she's no longer allowed to drive (and is blethering on incessantly about discussing the ban with the doctor who imposed it) and returning by train on Thursday. It's 300 miles each way.

I've just sniffed two of the crowd funded scents, one on each wrist, and I like both so far. Apples and Pears has faded a bit now but was pleasant; Captured by Candlelight is a bit more evening-y for me, which fits with the name.

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2016 20:47

I went with the other two first Cresset. I like Buddahwood Box - interesting to smell lighter,, nuttier woods, rather than dark and resinous ones. Opening is savoury and a touch medicinal . An hour or so in and it seems to teeter between creamy heart notes and slight aromatic fizz (faint lemon/lavender?) - fabulous. Potentially full bottle worthy for lovers of wood?

MrsCocoa · 30/04/2016 20:55

And that sounds a noble thing to do Cresset.

CointreauVersial · 30/04/2016 22:51

Evening, perfumistas! I forgot about this thread.....but a mere five minute catch-up and my finger is already poised on the "buy" button for the Mary Greenwell Fire. Sounds heavenly.

Cresset - sorry to hear about your MIL troubles. I did snigger at the suggestion of Beaufort 1805 - possibly the most repellent fragrance I've tried for years.

SOTD is ELDO Fils de Dieu. Coconut rice.....

MrsCocoa · 01/05/2016 10:17

SotD is Flora Psychedelia (hope that's right - writing on the bottle is too small to read even with reading glasses. (Will have to get bigger bottles next time Smile). Wasn't expecting to like this, but it's a lovely aromatic floral. First cousin of Fleurs de Sel? For those old enough to remember, vaguely reminds me of those tiny packets of Floral Gum sweets made by Squirrel.

Bravo 4160 - this has been a lovely thing to have been involved with.

teta · 01/05/2016 11:27

First of May today hence Sotd is Carillon Pour un ange.
I have also ordered Fire!

flightywoman · 01/05/2016 12:12

Givenchy III for me today! Oh how I love it...

cressetmama · 01/05/2016 12:33

Tried the Buddahwood Box today and it's lovely, if light, even fleeting on the skin. Reading MrsC's comments I am expecting to enjoy the Flora Psychedelia tomorrow... especially if it's like Floral Gums. We loved them and the taste/aroma memory comes back vividly as if the last bag were yesterday, instead of the 60s.

You're all very kind to cheer me on. MiL is lovely, but has become a bit dithery with the passage of time. I am, despite the occasional burst of infuriation, very fond of her! Believe it when I tell you that I wouldn't do that drive for just anyone.

MsBojangles · 01/05/2016 13:32

We can tell you're just venting, cress, a three hour drive is not to be sniffed at!

Diorissimo today Smile

cressetmama · 01/05/2016 18:02

It's six hours each way MsBJ, possibly more if the traffic is bad. Hope it will okay but on the return journey from a Bank Holiday weekend, there's always some uncertainty. Whatever happens, I will smell gorgeous!

YetAnotherNC · 01/05/2016 19:30

MG Fire is lovely. I spent ages trying to work out what it reminds me of, and came to the conclusion it was Eau de Gucci from when I was a teenager... I might be wrong, but I think it was that. I don't have any to compare it with any more. Anyway, lovely and am impressed.

Cresset I do understand about the lovely but barkingly infuriating MIL. Always good to vent in understanding company so that we can appear serene swans in real life... Good luck with the drive.

MsBojangles · 01/05/2016 20:34

6 hours? How torturous...be blissful when you get back home though Smile

Changed to Goddess of Love and Perfume tonight, it's divine!

MissBattleaxe · 01/05/2016 21:50

Ooh I love Goddess of Love and Perfume! good choice.

Lovely to see how many have succumbed to MG Fire. Just call me an enabler!
