Ok, so now Fracas still smells like Fracas, but is fading fast and I want a respray, but TorD has morphed into a rather lovely amber... I wonder how long that will last? I am reluctantly impressed (never thought I'd like a celeb scent Shock it spoils the mystique of perfume for me ) and for this price it has very good longevity, big sillage and an interesting development. I'm just not keen on the vanilla-y stage. Which is a shame because for the price of 50ml of Fracas and a month long shipping wait, I could get 10 100ml bottles of Truth or Dare! Probably get sick of it by bottle 6 or 7....! Grin

Feel slightly nauseous thinking about all that sweet vanilla and white floral.... think I might break out the Fille en Aiguilles tonight... Or maybe Salome again, for a big salty rose kick in the pants!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 22/04/2016 10:06

Hello all, I have just sniffed my celery as I chucked it into the stew to see if I could spot Miss Dior in there- I think it's the slightly bitter waft of something.

Cresset and MsBojangles- I would love to take you up on the offers of a drop of Dior juice! Not sure how the swapping on here works? Do I PM you? I am in Italy of course, so you will need to tell me how much the postage will be as well and factor that in.

I am having a clearout and if anyone would like any of these, let me know. They are all Nose or Aus Leibe samples and so quite small. Some have been tried once, some twice, but none have the padded shoulder grande dame thing going that is me!

Scent- Costume National- this is a half full Nose sample- so only a day or so of spray left- but if someone wants to try it.
Iperborea- Lorenzo Villaresi- about the same, there is a day or so.
Heeley - Chypre 21 Aus Leibe sample, so a bit bigger
Heeley- Sel Marin "
Pc01- Biehl thingy- Nose again, so v small
Lazy Sunday Morning- MMM- Nose 2/3 full
Flowerbomb- a couple of days worth.

I am full of cold, so have just been squirting whatever comes out first as SoTD this week. Today I'm back in Paris. Can't smell a bleeding thing. Grin

I received my purse sprays of Mary Greenwell Plum and Lemon EDP.
The Lemon is highly reminiscent of O De Lancome as it was many years ago.Lemon with a pungent slightly bitter Oakmoss and a herbal underpinning..I can also pick up a slightly aldehydic whiff which makes it smell slightly vintage. It's fantastically good quality and a must for Eau d'Hadrian lovers.
The purse sprays are weighty and beautifully packaged.I'm ordering a full bottle before the price goes up.

MissBattleaxe · 22/04/2016 16:38

teta- you have just persuaded me to go and buy Mary Greenwell Lemon. Thank you!

YetAnotherNC · 22/04/2016 17:50

SOTD Guerlain Chamade eau de cologne (vintage). Hmmm, not made up my mind... Think I like it, but I'm used to heavy hitting rose/tuberose/incense things, and this very green to start, powdery and poised. Keep needing to top it up, just to check...! Think that's a good sign.

Now I want to try Mary Greenwell fragrances too. Lemon sounds lovely.

I was juicing today, and used celery in my green juice. Put it in the juicer, pressed the button, et voila, Miss Dior!! Grin

MsBojangles · 22/04/2016 21:19

I have visions of me smearing my body with celery stalks...if the window cleaner catches me I shall never forgive you, Yet! Shock

MissBattleaxe · 22/04/2016 21:49

I always find Yatagan very celery, and also FM Lys Mediterranee. The Lily goes very vegetable-y.

MrsCocoa · 22/04/2016 23:44

You've had me wracking my brains for the name of the noughties perfume that featured celery seed - think it was Alexander McQueen's Kingdom? Anyone else remember this?

2 x SotD today. Started with Carven's Vetiver (whilst passing through a department store) - I liked it (properly rooty) but I haven't smelt previous formulations. Then my Yohji Yamamoto Homme arrive in the post. Pleasant enough: ethereal and beautifully blended, but I was expecting licorice and couldn't smell any.

MrsCocoa · 23/04/2016 07:19

Has anyone smelt Mary Greenwell's Fire?

teta · 23/04/2016 07:38

No and I can't find any reviews for it sadly.I would love to try it as its again by the same Nose.Fire is not listed in Fragantica and there are no reviews on Basenotes.
Went to bed in Plum.I'm trying to work out which perfume it's based on:Poison?

YetAnotherNC · 23/04/2016 08:20

MrsBojangles Grin Grin Grin !!!!

MissB Maybe that's why I'm not fond of Yatagan - the celery note... I'm not fond of wearing things I could eat.

I have yet to decide what will be SOTD. perhaps Joy?

FrustratedFrugal · 23/04/2016 11:38

SOTD Yatagan. For some reason I don't associate with cooking, for me it is an outdoorsy piney forest scent. Funnily enough, I dislike some pine and fir perfumes, fir balsam smells farty Wink

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 23/04/2016 18:01

My Tam Dao has arrived but I'm not uncorking it until my cold has gone as smells are still coming in spurts followed by more blocked up-ness.

However, SotD is vintage Givenchy III and by gum I feel grown up and sophisticated. My first grown up perfume, first suggested to me by my Mum on a duty free spree we did on our way to Menorca in 83.

It's also one of my ebay bargains, as I snaffled the box of miniatures of Givenchy III, Eau de Givenchy and Ysatis for a whole £4! The perils, for the seller of listing things to finish on a Friday lunchtime.

YetAnotherNC · 23/04/2016 18:10

Then ooh, I'd never thought about what time listings ended - obviously I'm a total amateur. Will think harder now when I list things (and when I'm shopping)!

SOTafternoon, for football with small people - Yatagan. After discussing it, I thought I'd give it one last try. Nope.... Too much vegetation or something. Still not quite right - makes my nose wrinkle.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 23/04/2016 18:22

Oh it's vital! If you're a seller, in the graveyard slot on Sunday afternoon/evening- say between 5pm and 8pm. If you're a buyer, then not those times.

I never look at the weekends, but in the week you get some fab stuff.

Ambroxide · 23/04/2016 18:27

I've got a bottle of Fire. I like it. It's not as peppery as I'd hoped but it's pretty nice. A good every day sort of perfume - nothing amazing. I'd be happy to wash out a sample bottle and send you a bit, if you like?

wiltingfast · 23/04/2016 18:49

Mmmm hello everyone Grin really enjoyed rtft !

Sote is Tabac Blond as I am going out for dinner with dh the lucky devil Grin

For the Escale a Parati lovers I have a 2/3 full bottle which I do not like ! Would definitely consider a swap for something else!!!

Also have about 7ml of jardin sur le nil and

10ml of l'artisan tea for two decant which I bought on an impulse and really dislike. Might be the Amber.... It's literally had two sprays gone out of it. Can't stand it Shock

Any interest?

Wish our Irish TK Maxx was as good as the uk. I've never seen interesting perfume in it...

MrsCocoa · 23/04/2016 23:25

Thanks Ambroxide - that's a very kind offer, but don't worry I can get to a Fragrance Shop branch fairly easily. Does it remind you of anything else?

SotD Lady Venegance: - gusts of dark rose all day. This has great staying power.

FrustratedFrugal · 24/04/2016 10:21

Starting the day with my favorite rhubarb perfume - Aedes de Venustas EdP.

MrsCocoa · 24/04/2016 19:15

Reliving my youth today in Eau de Gres (found a miniature on Ebay). Now looking for a bottle of Cabochard from the same era. Keep wondering what I did with all the half empty bottles - wish I'd kept them!

teta · 25/04/2016 08:23

Tauer's Carillon Pour Ange today. It's so pretty if I spray very lightly .A mere wisp of a spray on each wrist.
Ambroxide I would love to try a bit of Fire.I can send you something of mine in return?

MissBattleaxe · 25/04/2016 10:23

teta- Carillon Pour Un Ange is one of my all time favourites! I have a full bottle. It's my only tauer FB. Much as I love them, I can't afford them or justify a collection of them. I stick with my samples. Actually, they are so longlasting that even a sample phial can last a while.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 25/04/2016 18:53

I am in Givenchy III again. Have just been reading Candy Perfume Boy, Persolaise and Basenote's Top 5 Chanel lists and am now going to have to dig out Bois des Isles and Cuir de Russie.

FrustratedFrugal · 25/04/2016 19:24

Another day with Aedes de Venustas. So easy to wear in the office. My favorite rhubarb perfume.

MissBattleaxe I find that perfume samples go a long way. Most of my full bottles are languishing unused - if you own more than a couple of bottles, 5 to 10 ml of juice is a lot.

Thinking about wearing some tuberose perfume when I go to bed.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 25/04/2016 19:30

MrsCocoa, an old miniature of Cabochard popped up on my ebay uk feed earlier.1970s.
