So I have a family wedding in April (6 weeks eeeek) that I want to look good for as I'll be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in a while.

I plan to do the following as much as possible!
Stop all takeaways after tonight
Reduce caffeine
Drink more water
Use teatree face mask to get rid off blemishes/scarring
Use nail/cuticle cream
Use eyelash enhancer such as taliko
Exfoliate and moisturise body
Apply oil to scalp/hair
Shred for beginners DVD
Take at least 5k steps a day

Any suggestions welcome! No need to spend money as I'm sure many of us have lots of beauty products lying around.

And one of my team brought this really clever mascara in for me to try.... With silk lashes in. Time to save up.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on much as my uncle passed away and it's been a stressful couple of weeks. Things still a little chaotic so I'll come back once things are settled xx

Can anyone recommend either a whitening toothpaste or whitening product to be used in addition to toothpaste?

OP posts:
Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 17/03/2016 19:24

Hi cheeky! How are you doing? Hope all okay. No idea re :whitening toothpaste though as mine are v yellow I would be keen to follow. Also wondering how effective getting them whitened at the dentist is?

redstrawberries101 · 18/03/2016 22:16

I'm doing ok thanks, hoping someone will come along and give us some direction! How are you getting on? I showered and moisturised today and exfoliated my face yesterday. Been applying vitamin c serum from body shop under my makeup and it actually helps make up stay on better. Really glad I'm using it up

I use a Colgate one - max white one. It was on special offer in boots! Quite like it - I drink a lot of coffee and I think it removes that yellowey/brown Confused colour well!

AWONI · 19/03/2016 10:56

My dentist offers proper whitening and I have thought about investing in it, but I think you have to give up coffee/tea/red wine or it's all just a waste of money. While I like to look good, I also think life is short and there's no way I'm giving up wine Grin

Fizrim · 20/03/2016 09:17

It must be dental week, I went to the dentist for the first time in ages this week for a scale and polish! Also got a filling replaced. I have already booked in for my next scale, I need them doing frequently (more than the NHS allows so will pay for the extra sessions).

In the same self-maintenance vein, I need to get new glasses (had a sight test yonks ago that said I needed to change mine and didn't) and find a new hairdresser (mine closed). Last week didn't really run to plan but I have four days before the schools are out for a fortnight so I'll see what I can do on those fronts!

redstrawberries101 · 20/03/2016 09:52

Good for you fizrim!

I also need to book a hairdressing appt. my hair is quite long (like to my bra strap now) and I'm quite liking it but it needs a tidy up. But in the summer months I shower everyday and drying hair is a bit of a pain so practically I find short hair easier to manage. Hmmmm.

Where is everyone???

OP posts:
missapples · 22/03/2016 09:50

Ooooooo can I join?

Today is the first day of my summer bod prep. 58 days to my jollies. Had a very traumatic month and it's now been put firmly behind me. Here's my list:-

  • no drinking during the week (most important)
  • no crap foods during week.
  • a little exercise every day.
  • nail care
  • drink 3l water every day
  • cut down on coffee
  • lower carbs, none refined.
  • start couch to 5k today

Flowers cheeky I hope you and your family are being kind to yourselves, sorry for your loss

I've not been well and then got a groin strain Blush trying out a yoga pose and I hadn't warmed up first.

I dyed my hair this morning (8 wash light ash brown). Also managed 15 mins of aerobics before the youngest woke up.

I've got a can of fake tan but it's so bloody dark I'll have to mix it with normal moisturiser before I risk it again. Actually, I might just pay for a spray tan...

I use the Colgate (I think) whitening strips that I get off of eBay. I find they work really well but can make my teeth very sensitive.

redstrawberries101 · 23/03/2016 20:46

Thanks for your kind words SmileSounds really good! Loving the yoga pose but yeah defo warm up properly. Finishing work tomorrow and can't wait. Back on Tuesday for one day and then I'm off again until the following Wednesday. Planning lots of treatments, exercise and I've started the 5:2 diet so need to do some meal planning aswell ! So many plans but so little time. Just been doing the basics these past couple of weeks.

How is everyone getting on??

BlackSwan · 27/03/2016 22:44

Hello! So nice to see you have picked this up CheekyChick! Appropriate I should find this tonight, finally tackled my first (second and third) greys with some at home colouring... worked out rather well and relieved I might be able to manage it at home rather than do frequent expensive salon visits.

redstrawberries101 · 28/03/2016 09:12

Very good! I've finally getting my haircut on Thursday and got the dentist too this week. Trying to make small inroads. Got a wedding next weekend and need to get on top of my skin - it's been feeling dry. I did use a facemask on sat but it's not been enough. Going to start the day off with some stretching today. Got a really good DVD which I should use more often.. Also going to try the beginners shred today. I bought it when I started this thread and still not done it..

OP posts:
CotswoldStrife · 28/03/2016 22:15

I have namechanged, apologies for any confusion (formerly F)

I still haven't unwrapped my copy of the shred yet Easter Wink

No progress on the hair or glasses front. Doing better on other things though, and using more perfume - I used to wear it every day and don't always now, so it's a treat for myself. Also wearing makeup more often. Perhaps not going as fast as I'd like but consistency is an aim too!

Hope you are doing OK Cheeky.

redstrawberries101 · 30/03/2016 10:58

Yes it's a marathon and not a sprint!

Today I'm planning to increase my water intake, put a face mask on, do my yoga stretching DVD and also take out a few perfumes which I can wear on a daily basis thanks to your tip! Need to also start my supplements again.

OP posts:
CotswoldStrife · 02/04/2016 22:59

How is everyone doing? I am finding the half-term (and the slower starts to the mornings) easier to cope with - putting makeup on, etc. It will be interesting to see if I can keep this up when the rush returns!

CotswoldStrife · 16/04/2016 19:17

Hello Princesses - how is it going? I've not kept up with things quite as well with the back to school grimness, but I have booked a hair appointment and an optician visit too. It's only taken me about three or four weeks Grin

Am trying to drink more water, finding it easier with a piece of lemon in to give it some flavour! Still not doing enough exercise ...

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/04/2016 19:50

Successes since the start of this thread:
I've lost 1.5 stone since Christmas and fit back in my size 12 trousers
My skin looks better as I've been taking better care of it
Been swimming 2-3 times a week and getting at least 8k steps in every day. Started Aqua Aerobics last week.
Been eating at least 7 portions of fruit and veg every day and drinking loads of water.

Sorry for your loss Cheeky. Unfortunately the last month has been challenging for us too, lost 2 family friends in a car crash and an uncle to cancer.
