So I have a family wedding in April (6 weeks eeeek) that I want to look good for as I'll be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in a while.

I plan to do the following as much as possible!
Stop all takeaways after tonight
Reduce caffeine
Drink more water
Use teatree face mask to get rid off blemishes/scarring
Use nail/cuticle cream
Use eyelash enhancer such as taliko
Exfoliate and moisturise body
Apply oil to scalp/hair
Shred for beginners DVD
Take at least 5k steps a day

Any suggestions welcome! No need to spend money as I'm sure many of us have lots of beauty products lying around.

Will footner trash my polish? I have some in my cupboard. But get decent polish at the moment and need to go for pedicures as can't get to my own feet. Should I wait until I am due next appointment?

LadyPriggsbottom · 01/03/2016 09:32

Green tea has caffeine in it sadly (or not that sadly if you don't like it)! Smile

Um I don't know if it makes that much difference tbh... I just read it's not great for skin and hair etc.

I've been failing miserably on the caffeine and sweet stuff front since my Sunday smug fest Grin. Everything else is going ok -

*exercise - yes
*more fruit, veg and water - so so, but definitely better than before
*less blow drying of hair and better skin care - definitely much better and I think I can feel a difference even if it's not that visible yet
*alcohol - haven't had any for over a week and not missing it atm. Off on holiday on Friday though so will have to see how I do then. Should be fine as just going with DD and DH for chilled week by the sea. Cream teas might be an issue though... Grin

Got the DVD player set up in my bedroom to start the beginners shred! I watched it this morning and I think it will be ideal for me. Looking forward to it.

I've just realised I've not exfoliated my face in a while. Need to start. Apart from that though I do cleanse tone and moisturise morning and night.

I had to google footner I didn't know what it was! My feet are in pretty good condition just need to do something about the cuticles? I've never had a mani/pedi

Well had my £5 facial today which was lovely, am all glowy now. Off for a hot stone massage tomorrow, never had one before so am excited!

Destinysdaughter · 01/03/2016 21:06

I get my nails done regularly, ( acrylics ) once a month and then don't have to think about them at all. The nail polish stays on and they don't break!

Lovely colour!

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 02/03/2016 02:27

I normally just go with plain groomed nails or shellac for a treat, wondering if I should switch to acrylics to tidy myself up a bit. I am in the pool 3to 4 times a week though...would they last?

doctorboo · 02/03/2016 08:10

Sorry I'm back after looking after 3 poorly children - I've been lucky enough to get half hour to myself this morning so I'm having a bath!

These are the face masks, they were recommended on the Asian skincare thread on here and I got them off eBay.
I got given a couple of the brightening peel samples and the first packet was nice to use, an unexpected bonus.

I need to do my toenails, they've been very neglected. I hate my feet being touched so no pedicures for me!

I haven't tried footner but could be persuaded Grin

I love aqua aerobics but haven't got the time or dosh to go at the moment, it's brilliant if you have joint issues.

I've just finished week one of the Davina 5 week DVD, I'm not keen on her or the trainer (sorry!) But am enjoying it...well, enjoying it once I've done it and having done the cool down.

I'm using my fitness pal (MFP) to track what I'm eating as I know I eat way too much. So far I've cut out the grazing. Hopefully the scales will show as change on Monday.

doctorboo · 02/03/2016 08:22

Helps to include pics.

The masks and my neglected toes.

Ah sorry to hear you've had three poorly DCs doctor! Sounds rough. Well done on Davina dvd. I haven't done anything for a couple of days, which isn't ideal but I've got a class tomorrow and then off on holiday (woo)! I'm bringing my trainers with me to do some workouts while there. Technically it should be easier to do this as I'll have DH to take over childcare during the day, but we'll see.

I used to have acrylic nails and they were really good for me as they navel chipped or anything. Only minor downside was committing to regular maintenance. Might look at getting them again.

I'm doing a lot better with diet today - much more fruit, veg, no sugar (other than fruit obviously). Not doing so great with the caffeine - oh well - one thing at a time.

LadyPriggsbottom · 02/03/2016 14:17

*never chipped not naval chipped sorry.

ooh! hope I'm not too late to join. Here's my list:

  • stop picking/scrutinising face in magnifying mirror
  • blow dry hair twice a week
  • sort out cuticles (I moisturise, I oil, I use remover, I push back, but they're still ragged - any tips??)
  • coconut oil on hair once a week
  • do not pluck eyebrows (trying to grow them back)

hmm, most of mine seem to involve not doing things...

redstrawberries101 · 02/03/2016 15:42

Welcome ladies!

Hahaha at magnifying mirror! they are the worst as they show up every tiny imperfection. I've had a bad day. I'm doing well on the water front but badly on everything else apart from facial skincare routine.

Tonight I need to :
Find my Fitbit and charge it
Do the shred

Anyone got any tips for scarring? I went through a bad phase of acne and it's left like tiny craters on my face. Covers ok with foundation but everything I've tried sort of settles into. Even primer. So not getting a smooth finish when im checking closely. Any makeup or beauty product recommendations? I've tried the body shop night fade lotion.

ChildlessAndOK · 02/03/2016 15:55

Please my I join!!
I need to definitely drink more water.
And eat more veg. - I use vit as a substitute.
My mobility / flexibility is very limited so exercises are really difficult- the stretching sounds good idea tho - any one have any tips who is good to follow for that?! I'm going to check out that video when I'm not in the office!
What is the good thing about Korean face masks? Do they do something extra?
I've noticed much more crinkles round my eyes recently and it scares me.
Plus i would like to drop another dress size - which I'm guessing now I will only achieve by some form of exercise ConfusedShock
I would LOVE a massage - totally my favourite indulgence.
Good luck everyone!! GrinThanks

JemimaMuddledUp · 02/03/2016 16:18

Afternoon Grin

I'm doing fairly well this week. Have stuck to the outfit planning, not wearing jeans to work (and have had compliments on my outfits), cleansing and moisturising, nails, handcream, drinking water and eating fruit and veg. Not so good with the exercise as I'm still not feeling 100%, I haven't been swimming this week and my step count has been lower than target. Although I've passed 7k steps today already so I should hit today's target.

My birthday next week so I'm thinking of booking myself a beauty salon treat, but I can't decided whether I want a massage, a facial or a manicure/pedicure.

Destinysdaughter · 02/03/2016 18:45

Well done all and welcome newbies! I had my hot stone massage today and it was lovely. So relaxing and only £10! Done my stretches and still chucking clothes out..,

Re acne scars, afraid I have no idea about that, may be worth starting your own thread on that?

Re stretching, I have a few I do, having done yoga and pilates ( sporadically ) for years! There's loads on Youtube, have a look, there's no one in particular I follow but there's lots of good ones.

I'm finding this thread really motivating so thanks OP and everyone who's joined! Smile

Destinysdaughter · 02/03/2016 18:53

Also, think we need to think of this as a marathon rather than a sprint. We're bound to have good and bad weeks. I was going to try a new exercise class tonight but I've got a cold so will do it next week instead. It's all cumulative and it's good to have these intentions written down and keep checking in and seeing how everyone else is doing!

Destinysdaughter · 02/03/2016 21:22

Just put almond oil on my hair, will wash it out in the morning so should have lovely shiny hair tomorrow! Smile

AWONI · 02/03/2016 21:38

Yes yes to the marathon not sprint notion - especially as today has been the equivalent of a long snooze! back on it tomorrow.

Cheeky Re acne scarring - have you tried glycolic acid? It's not anywhere near as scary as it sounds, bravura london do a brilliant one.

redstrawberries101 · 02/03/2016 21:54

Thanks destiny, I'm glad your enjoying it! Me too. Smile you are right. I've had a very busy week with work and hospital visits (visiting my mil and uncle) so not managed to do exactly what I've wanted. But I keep referring back to this to thread and aiming to do one new thing a day at least. Today I'm going to moisturise my feet!

OP posts:
JudyBlumeRocks · 03/03/2016 11:08

for stretches have a look at doyogawithme website - lots of lovely yoga classes and free to watch/use. I especially like the yoga for runners section..

I ran yesterday and am determined to swim today, or at least pilates, but lacking motivation and have just eaten an enormous cake that my builder kindly brought me (would have been rude not to, right...?). This is my attempt at accountability.

Fizrim · 03/03/2016 11:41

I've been doing some of the bed stretches first thing and it's really helped - I have a sore back and it is always better when I do some yoga stretches first thing but even the bed ones are working!

Have filed my nails down and got some polish ready to put on. Have bought some more foundation as well, had a bit of a dash this morning so didn't get a chance to put any on but will do shortly.

Apart from the stretching have not done well on the exercise front so need to work on that bit!
