Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

Stropps, you deserve a bloomin' good half term. Am so pleased about dd.

Half term will feel odd here - no dcs...

Blackduck · 12/02/2016 08:22

Stropps good on DD!

MrsS you can PM me if you like and I'll see if I can come up with anything (although the question sis why do they feel a blog is necessary - do you not have enough work to do?)

And loving DDs response....... I am hoping DS remains blissfully unaware of the charms of young ladies for some considerable time yet.

Thanks for birthday wishes! Stropps, enjoy your half term.

Off to see if Mum is suitable candidate for full hip replacement. The screw thing they fixed it with when she broke it a few years ago gives her agonising pain and she's all hunched with it.

Happy Fridays.

Dcs have both already started half-term. Dd has taken herself off for her first solo drive, visiting a friend who lives 30 mins drive away, out in one of the villages. Did I mention that the stubborn moo also insisted on taking the test in my car?

Today I am mainly trying to catch up with myself, although a bunch of small boys and their mums are due round shortly, so not much point in tidying up really Grin

And fingers crossed for MamaWAF.

I have had a word with DP. And he is going to have a word with DD1. Who appears otherwise immune to the charms of blokes, phew how unlike me at her age. (DD2 is clearly besotted with Benedict Cumberbatch, though.)

I am having dinner tonight with literary friends to discuss my Effusion. Erk.

WAF - my FiL had a double hip replacement with a year in between. It's changed his life. Good luck to your DM.

We still have a week to go till half term. We all seem to have had a really exhausting week - I predict a mass lie in tomorrow.

I have had a complete day to myself and am not on pick up duty from the Junior Valentines Disco until 8pm. I've just bodded around and got all my little jobs done. Dh is out tonight, so I've got crisps and dips for supper, with tiffin for afters Blush

Stupid dogs first run with professional dog runner was a success. They reached 13k per hour, which she was impressed with. I'm just happy it's not me he's dragging through the woods!

Got job interview on Tuesday - eeek! I will have to invent an excuse to leave work 30 minutes early and peg it over there.

Well done CV. Great news. Can you say what sort of job it is for?

Beachy, that sounds heavenly. We had fish and chips last night because DH was out. I love a day of pottering too.

WAF, how did Mama WAF get on?

I am just off to the Waterloo B and K to meet some work friends (we don't work near there but are scattered and it's easy for several of us to get home). Did we fix a venue for the Crepey meeting on 12th March? And did we decide on day or evening?

Have a lovely evening, everyone Smile

There's such a thing as a professional dog runner? Who knew...

BeachysFlipFlops · 12/02/2016 19:04

I guess she's like a dog walker but she runs up and down hills Grin and she's professional cos I pay her!

In S&B news, following on from my skirt triumph in John Lewis, today one of the slightly less irritating art students asked if I was under 35. I was possibly too effusive in my loving response. I guess to 17-year-olds, everyone over 30 looks equally ancient.

Steak and chips, plus film tonight in a Valentine's stylee. Are spending the weekend in Portsmouth with MiL, who wants to go to the seaside while she still can. As it's going to be in the eye of the next storm to hit the coast, I foresee a lot of sitting in steamed up cars/cafes. We're staying overnight in a slightly shit-looking hotel that doesn't include breakfast in its hefty tariff! The cheek!

Well done CV, and good luck!

Beachy, dog-runner sounds fab.

Herbs, hope the weekend goes well. That weather news makes me doubly glad that we are going in the Eurotunnel as usual!

Dropped DD off at her friends for their "dinner party" earlier, first making sure she had her train ticket and I had her keys! Mostly packed up and ready for a 4.30am start. I am soooooo tired, so hopefully I will fall asleep early!

Monty - it's PA/Office Manager. The job I do currently (well, in reality, but not on paper, hence it's almost double my paltry salary. I am woefully underpaid). But it will probably be a horrid commute. We'll see....

BTM - bon voyage, have a fantastic (and well-earned) break!

Hilarious teenage meltdown from DD1 this morning at school drop-off - a full-scale tantrum (including real tears) because she'd forgotten her lip balm. "But my lips will be all crusty!" "So are you going to Art Club after school?" "Noooo, I can't possibly manage a whole extra hour with no lip balm, are you KIDDING ME?" She jumped out of the car, slamming the door so hard it made my ears hurt. DD2 and I looked at each other. DD2 said, "What was that?" #FirstWorldTeenageProblems Grin

Just signing in and catching up...

We're in East Angular for the weekend - well until tomorrow evening, after taking ds2 to Gatwick at 4.30!! this morning as he's gone to do a week's work experience in Germany... then headed here with ddog but no children - a mixture of nice and sad. It's the future Crepes and we're practising!

Coming back to go to a dear friend's Bowie Memorial party. He is the biggest Bowie fan you can begin to imagine so it should be similarly fun and sad in equal measure. I will mostly be wearing silver and have dyed my hair pastel pink in a rather misguided spirit of Bowie stylee adventurousness. Might regret this on Monday morning I think.

BTM well done for resolving dd drama and have a FAB time skiing.
Stropps - many congrats to dd! Onwards and upwards and all that.
Herbs, you minx you.
CV, knock 'em dead (not LITERALLY).
Much love and happiness to everyone - I'm two large gasses of red down and feeling very benevolent...

Top tantrum CV. Sounds like you handkwdcit with sang froid. And how exciting re interview.

Herbs, trip sounds like it has potential for gloom. Really hope it goes well

Mum is on waiting list for new hip! Surgeon was a great big hunk of a man. I had to take off lots of my coats and jumpers cos I got all hot.

Beachy I should pay someone to run with me on lead. I start with good intentions then I take a short cut.
