Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter

Kill me now....DH is now trying to saw through the plasterboard behind the toilet so he can get his hand onto the waste pipe from the other side of the wall. It won't re-connect.

But hey, at least the seat has been reattached.

CV - commiserations - I hate this sort of thing.

Well, he got the waste pipe reconnected, but because he used a different nut & bolt on one hinge (having lost the original nut), when you sit down on the loo the lid falls forward and whacks you hard in the back. You couldn't make it up. H'e wedged one side up temporarily with washers but the whole lot will have to come out again, once we've been to Wickes tomorrow for a new nut. Do you think they sell handy husbands as well?

CV I know the answer to this one. I do it myself.

MrsS, if it helps, most of those called back for more tests are fine. But I guess when you've already had cancer it's harder to take comfort in statistics. Enjoy the champagne & good books

I'm awake because DM pressed her alarm. By mistake She had got up to put her phone on charge, apparently in the belief that you have to do it as soon as the indicator light starts to flash.

So now I know: the alarm definitely wakes me up & the reflexes are still good. Was on my feet & out the door in a twinkling

at Mr CV's toilet DIY shenanigans. Hoping he's still alive and CV hasn't been arrested. I've got one of those too, a DIY epic fail of a house mate. Except DH doesn't even try...he calls out a man who can. It can get quite embarrassing when they turn up and solve the problem in 5 secs flat, though.

Am getting on the road to the coast with Dd shortly. beachy are you around? Nice evening of music, friends and food last night. Was irritated with. DS who inspite of several invitations didn't play with the band because be "hadn't prepared anything" I think he regretted it in the end and came home mumbling that he'd do something with a friend singing next time....

We have never recognised Valentine's, barely bother with birthdays. But had a lovely Saturday with dd yesterday (rainy walk, large lunch) and a great evening en famille. They are so rare these days.

We don't do Valentines either - said on several occasions if dp ever have me a card I'd assume the worst.....

CV hope loo is fixed - like others either I do it or I call someone out.

In other news dash home yesterday as mum took a turn for the worse. She now has an infection. I think we are nearing the end. Much talk of intensive care etc. Family made decision to DNR. She had no idea who any of us was - no response. Not even when I held her hand. Only a matter of time now.

MrsS. I got called back after my first - they have to double-check anything looking remotely dodgy - 99% of the time it's nothing to worry about apparently. Hope its the same for you.

CV, as you know, my DH is similarly challenged, so you have my sympathies - WTF should we have to do every bloody thing?!

We made it! No hold ups, although I managed to have my turn at driving for 2 hours in torrential rain - DS was impressed - couldnt see the cars infront/behind till danderously close - very scary. At least there was no bickering/moaning all the way. And DH did manage the manly skill of putting the snow chains on as we arrived

The chalet is LOVELY but so warm I had to open the bedroom windows in the middle of the night! DS and DH have gone skiing and I am holed up in a cafe for the free wifi and will potter till meeting them at lunch

Oh BD I hope it all happens easily and quickly x

CV, we did laugh at your toilet adventures, particularly DH who is really quite practical, but who has NO common sense. His other problem is the curse of the dirty thumbprint!.

I have just made a milk chocolate cake which will be the base of DGS's phone birthday cake.

DH got back from football and asked me if I liked my Valentine's Card. "What card?" said I. He told me he had tucked it inside the Sunday Times, which he'd left out for me. However, I had already read the ST from cover to cover and seen no card. A quick search around the house, and my card was evetually located on the floor behind the TV. Aaah, romance.
