29 crepes a leaping.......

magimedi · 10/02/2016 19:33

Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

Oh Beachy, very brave.

Stropperella · 19/02/2016 19:27

Good luck, Beachy. Hope you won't need it. But I'm tempted to suggest that the "bus-load of old people go to a disco in Portsmouth" experience is one that you are enduring so we don't have to. Grin A bit like wilbur's waxing experience of many, many threads ago...

herbaceous · 19/02/2016 19:47

Re 12th, I'm now in a bind. One of my dearest old pals (who currently lives in Sheffield) is also in London that evening and has asked if I'm free. Being senile, I said yes. I guess if it was just her I could bring her along! She is crepey, and has just retrained as a hypnotherapist after years of working in university admin. She should meet BD!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 19/02/2016 21:10

I'm keen to come on the 12th - as long as we've settled on dinner rather than lunch?

Do we have a plan? Is it cunning?

MI, I saw that denim dress in rl today and it was v nice - good stiffish proper denim - definitely go for it. Will suit you I think. Have you got the 20% off code?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 19/02/2016 21:11

Are you sure we wouldn't scare your friend Herbs! Fine by me if she's up for it...

GiddyGiddyGoat · 19/02/2016 21:15

MI, this is nice too - if there's a Boden code knocking around somewhere...

Just for the Stropps!

Blackduck · 19/02/2016 22:01

Oh Beachy ... Hopes you are okay?!?

Clubbing -hmm - never really my thing

CointreauVersial · 19/02/2016 22:30

I'm in for 12th March!

Eurgh at all the piercing talk; makes me feel a little queasy. I have my ears done, and that's it. And I didn't do them myself with a needle.

Impressed by the disco, Beachy, you raver, you.

Welcome back, BTM. Assume house is in one piece, and not full of empty beer bottles and hungover teens?

I've had a lovely week at work with my little assistant, aka DS. He did a great job, was brilliant company, and grew in confidence as the week went by. I was quite surprised/encouraged to see how seriously he took it all (even though it was mostly dullsville filing, shredding and scanning), and the attention to detail he showed - really, a hitherto unseen side to him! The £160 he earned was extremely welcome too, as he's saving for a new PC.

Stropperella · 20/02/2016 00:57

CV, well done your ds. I can only dream of either of my offspring doing something that constructive.
BD, I bloody love that! Thank you! So long since I listened TT/EBTG - this has reminded me to reinvestigate.
Just back from 80s film viewing evening with a bunch of friends who are all much younger. Oh how different 1985 looked if you were 20, rather than 12. Or 7.

Stropperella · 20/02/2016 01:01

Actually, one of them was only 3 in 1985, so I don't even know why she likes 80s films. Confused Needless to say, as the only only who was actually an adult in the 80s, I felt v old. Boo.

bigTillyMint · 20/02/2016 07:51

BD and Stropps, I must have seen EBTG 3 or 4 times in my yoof - loved 'em and have many tracks on SpotifySmile

Beachy, I am Envy - I was a clubber from 16. Now it's just weddings, 50th's and the odd party!

GGG, that dress is nice, but the model looks like she's just about got into it and is holding her tummy in to stop it popping open!

CV, great on your DS (have to sort work experience for mine!) No beercans or anything here - DD was at her nan's with her bf the whole week - obviously preferable to skiingGrin

Stropps, what films? We watched the Back In Time for the Weekend on Catch-up last night - was the 70's!

Shall I see if I can book the big Kings X Camino's for say 7pm? Or has anyone else got a better plan?

BeachysFlipFlops · 20/02/2016 08:49

I'm alive Smile feeling a bit rough, but great fun. We were in the 80's Disco Cheese room, which was apt, but was super cheesy at the beginning, think Elton John and Kiki Dee, but got progressively better with the odd Macarena thrown in! The DJ was appalling.

Still there was much people watching to be had and a great deal of 'Style and beauty' analysis of the disco population of Portsmouth!

We sashayed out at 1am, being led by the birthday boy who had found balloons, like a Saga bus party to our coach and home.

NUFC69 · 20/02/2016 09:25

Glad you are back safely, Beachy.

A disastrous overnight here as Brian (and the loo) have been in use. I was violently sick at six pm, needed the loo several times later, and this morning. Of course DS and family are moving in today until they go to Jamaica on Tuesday night. We were also having DGS2 this morning whilst her mum took DGS1 to football and her dad helped with the final removal of stuff from DS's house. Really, really bad planning on my part. It will be awful if my visitors go down with this before/whilst they are on their way to Jamaica.

motherinferior · 20/02/2016 09:29

I went to fab 80s disco 50th a while back and slightly surprised my school gate friends by my enthusiasm for ska. Thinking about it, my daughters' new head teacher was also there (dancing rather well with her husband who can also dance Envy). Hope I didn't misbehave. At least I didn't snog anyone.

motherinferior · 20/02/2016 09:31

Oh NU! you poor love! Can you incarcerate yourself, reserve a bathroom (assuming your house has more than one) and inform them all they need to get on with it?

Lalsy · 20/02/2016 09:54

NU, oh no. I think MI is right - take to your bed and stay there. I hope you feel much better soon.

Beachy, sounds fun!

BTM, that sounds great.

hattymattie · 20/02/2016 10:33

NU - awful - separate loo for you and lots of bleach - this seems (on the whole) to work for us.

We had lovely child who ate to many sweets vomit copiously in the corridor yesterday. Have learnt that cat litter sprinkled on top neutralises it until it can be cleaned. The joys of working in a school!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 20/02/2016 11:11

Me too for the 12th BTM, Me too!

Rosebag · 20/02/2016 11:15

NU it's not a great time to be around people. You need to be cosseted in bed, and near to a bathroom. You poor, poor thing. What do you think caused it?...something you ate or a nasty virus? And you are very sweet thinking of the other family members, but you also need to put yourself first! Be well. Immodium, flat coke, dioralyte....hope no more Brian. Flowers

Ohhh you go-er, Beachy. Love a disco, I do. Although according to my age, I would need to be in the '70's room Grin

I would like to come on 12th. It was the ill fated day when I have refused to teach for peanuts, resulting in hell breaking loose within the organisation and me going on "time out" from it for a while, possibly never to return. Sad I'll need cheering up. Naturally Kings X is very convenient for us Norf London foreigners!

Had a lovely day topping up my CPD yesterday on a really well run course. Came home in a good mood Smile

Cremo · 20/02/2016 11:26

Mornin crepesters.
Respect Beachy. I went to a 50th in Chinawhite ( proper club) and was amazed by how it all works now. Ipad ordering at the table, ice bucket tables, and the grooming going on in the ladies was something else. !
I felt like a complete heifer.Grin

Right, it seems like a big crowd for the 12th, I think we should book BTM as time is marching on. Kings Cross seems accessible to most doesn't it? And Caminos seem to provide for our needs well enough.
Anybody any other thoughts?

I've put my back out again. Surely related to being back at work. SadI am currently channelling Willendorf Woman by roly polying on the office floor . Meh.

motherinferior · 20/02/2016 11:35

Caminos is good for me. Chorizo and cava and patatas bravas. All the essential food groups. Trust me, I'm a health journalist.

NU - hope you are feeling a bit better by now. Rest of family just need to keep away from you.

Sorry I won't be coming to the mu - and it would be tricky for me to do an evening anyhow. Last trains back here are so berluddy early.
