Just back in Blighty - got out on an early 2hrs) train. Bit of excitement when DH got out for a wee then we got called and I had to drive onto the upstairs of the train, nearly knocking off the wing mirror!

BTM - I am a total chicken about driving onto the upstairs. I can do downstairs but DH has to take the wheel for up - given today's performance, probably just as well.

I skived off this afternoon and took DD2 to get her new earrings changed. So obviously I now have a new opal nose stud and little peridot studs in my second ear piercings. She liked it there. Oops.

Auriga, Herbs, Rose (it's a Saturday), GGG, Monty, CV, how about you? DQ and MM I think you said you couldn't make it, but Hatty any good for you?

Dd is stressing about her nose piercing. She claims her nose has swelled up because she changed the stud before she was supposed to (is her most recent body modification). Her ears are now like pin cushions, but at least one of the more outlandish piercings has failed/fallen out. I can't say much, as my ears were once a bit pin-cushiony, but these days I mainly only wear a stud in the top of my pointy ear and sometimes studs in the standard boring place. Dd spends a lot of time watching programmes about tattoos, but swears blind she doesn't want one. Bet she does get one and then spends years moaning about how she hates it.

Probably has swelled up...but will probably go back down again. I am now yearning for a third set of lobe piercings. It's still cheaper than DP's red sports car....

'Spose at least dd has paid someone else to do her piercings. Back in the day, I did mine with a safety pin. (which is why they are wonky and I don't bother with them any more)

stropps has she tried bathing nose with slightly warm salt water? Sea salt is better. thats what we did in our slightly mispent youth after much self piercing.

Thanks for the offer. But if I wear any more metal, dd will just take that as a challenge. After spending the last few years dissing my style, she has suddenly (over the last month) taken to wearing all my old clothes (someone mentioned leggings - I used to be the Queen of Very Loud Leggings) and jewellry. But she's wearing it all much better than I ever did (damn), given that she is taller and has a glorious size 8/10 hourglass figure. (damn again) She says she keeps getting compliments from her friends for all my old clothes.

This is why I am trying to dissuade DD from a nose piercing...

I gave her a bowl of warm saline solution this morning and told her to get swabbing. :)

ds back from his week away, massive dark circles under his eyes but had a great time, despite spending quite a lot of it in cold water. It sounded lovely - small group, lots of "bants" from staff, and he even did a bit of work.
