29 crepes a leaping.......

Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

I've had enough and am going to read in bed, dammit. I appear to have no offspring about the place.

I might even take some crisps (halft term snacks!) and a glass of red wine with me...

GiddyGiddyGoat · 16/02/2016 16:50

Cheers MI!

motherinferior · 16/02/2016 16:54

I decided to postpone the wine till Happy Valley but the crisps were great.

magimedi · 16/02/2016 17:46

Dentist was all OK - no work needed - this time. But I am a dental phobic so I do get a bit wound up.

Lalsy, you are right about taking up exercise in the crepey years. I am really loving my swimming & take great pride in what I can now do.

MI - bed sounds like a good idea for you - as does wine & have just seen the time & am going to treat myself to a glass as a reward for going to the dentist!

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/02/2016 19:09

Cold, you say? Tis luffly here...

motherinferior · 16/02/2016 19:26

Especially if you're not inconvenienced by too many clothes, MrsS?

I do actually dispense with pants in hot weather

Stropperella · 16/02/2016 19:30

Well, tis blardy brass monkeys here, MrsS. Grin
Hope you are enjoying your wine as much as I enjoying mine, MI.
Herbs, we v much enjoyed yr latest art-related FB update - oh I have so very much been there, done that with ds.Smile
Here, I would like to be articulate and coherent, but I think I am having a relief-driven over-reaction to one glass of red. Let's just say that today's psychiatric appointment (2 psychiatrists for the price of one!!) went very well. I was invited in for half of it. I still don't want to make any big statements, but I have had my daughter back for the last 2 weeks, after her being someone else for a very long time. So hooray for meds.
Although there is a little sad part of me that is now even more certain that if her dad had taken ADs instead of excess alcohol, life would have been very different.

herbaceous · 16/02/2016 19:40

Oh stropps, that made me do a happy-sad-happy tear.

The art-related day trip picked up, once we'd started working through a children's trail booklet with a friend who came along. Though it did result in drawing some bums.

magimedi · 16/02/2016 19:52

Stropps - I am (cautiously) so very happy for you. Been there, got the T shirt & I know how one hardly dares to even breathe.

I have every digit crossed for you & DD - once my DS accepted the meds life started to improve so very much.

Eleven years down the line I am in a place that I thought I would never be - there is hope & things will get better & better.

Mind you, it has taken its toll on me - I feel more like 70 than 60!!

And the gin bill....................... Grin

MontserratCaballe · 16/02/2016 21:45

Stropps, like Herbs I am a little weepy on your update. So glad your daughter is back and long may it continue. Sad to reflect on her dad though Flowers

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2016 22:00

I'm with you on the gin, Magi.

Sooooo, the interview went well.....it was one of those that was more like a chat (i.e. does your face fit?), and I think he talked more than I did. I'm not sure I was able to demonstrate all my talents, but there weren't any awkward silences. I had Crem's words of wisdom at the forefront of my mind - they'd be lucky to get me! He mentioned that he had someone else to see, then there were second interviews in a week or so. Gorgeous shiny new office, lovely potential boss, more responsibility, considerably more money (think 80% more); what's not to love? Errr....the fact that it's in bloody Richmond! I got there pretty efficiently, but there's no parking, and it took me an hour and a half to get home (and that wasn't quite rush hour). I shall be poring over the train timetables to see if I can make it work. If it were closer I'd be falling over myself to get the job, but I just don't know if it's worth the inevitable tip in the wrong direction of my currently excellent work/life balance. Hmmmm. Of course, it's very possible the decision will be made for me.

Anyway, the good news is that I have a day off tomorrow, for my birthday, hooray! Cake We are off to lunch here, which should be a little, er, different. Over 18s only, fingerprints, no mobiles, cameras or cash....but it's supposed to be excellent food. The DDs are convinced we'll end up embroiled in some sort of prison riot and be taken hostage by Sabatier-wielding nutters. Grin

Lalsy · 16/02/2016 23:19

Stropps, me too. Cautiously grinning, hoping and crossing everything, and so pleased you have your dd back.

CV, it sounds great. Fingers crossed fr the next stage. Richmond has brilliant connections.

NUFC69 · 17/02/2016 06:52

Aaaah, Stropps, that's really good news. So pleased for you and DD.

CV, well done re interview: possible difficult decisions ahead. Happy birthday - have a lovely lunch. I will think of you as I eat my McD's Big Mac (we're taking DGS into Newcastle for his proper present, and his idea of bliss is a McD's - this from the child who has eaten out in some really nice places!).

MM, glad to hear that the dentist went well. I, too, hate the place, but have to go very frequently. Your recollections of problems with DS must be very encouraging for Stropps.

NUFC69 · 17/02/2016 06:54

Oh, CV, have just looked at the link: different to say the least. We will all be interested to hear how you get on.

Dreamqueen · 17/02/2016 06:55

Cake Happy birthday CV.
Restaurant sounds fun & different.
Flowers Strops, the relief you feel must be totally overwhelming.

Blackduck · 17/02/2016 07:01

Stropps Grin

MI are you A Happy Valley fan too? Got dp into it by insisting he watched the opening 'sheep rustling' scene Grin

Here mum has rallied. So who knows. Nursing home back on, but if she ever needed a line put in in the future we'd be screwed as veins now shot. Fun the getting old lark...

Rose I have been known to go for a walk to escape ds - I think it's healthy!
Dentist here too and BP down from 39 to 7 - woo hoo :)

CV fingers crossed!

Blackduck · 17/02/2016 07:04

CV Happy Birthday - interesting location for lunch Smile

MontserratCaballe · 17/02/2016 07:22

Happy birthday CV. Your lunch venue looks amazing.

motherinferior · 17/02/2016 07:23

Happy birthday CV! And so pleased for you all, Stropps.

hattymattie · 17/02/2016 07:23

Stropps - so happy for you with DD - praying (and I don't normally do this) that it's the start of a turning point in both your lives.

Happy Birthday in prison CV Smile hope you have fun, and fingers crossed for the job.

DS still off sick so will leave him to sleep in and potter round the house. He only has a half day today so I felt it better that he rest.

Very sad day yesterday, as child's mother died unexpectedly in the night. This is the second sudden death of a reasonably young healthy person that I have encountered in a fortnight. I have never really come across it before, there has always been a reason.

Cremo · 17/02/2016 07:39

CV, how amazing. What a brilliant scheme for rehabilitation.. Hope the food lives up to the menu, which looks delicious. happy birthday inmate!GrinThanks Glad the interview went well. But yes, location is everything. Especially if it's every day. Lots to think about.
Snow here today with freezing fog. I am starting to fade as the week goes on. Cold and tiredness, taking its toll. So after all the VR at work, they are now on a massive recruitment drive. It's nuts. They simply didn't realise they already had an ace team already, and treated everyone so badly. Grr.
Still looking for another job...

Agree about the exercise. pilates has saved me from a life of limping. Also love to swim.

Blackduck · 17/02/2016 07:44

Cremo :(.
Here lots of schemes and money being thrown around BUT not at the admin staff.....

Exercise - I recommend the Canadian Airforce regime (14 minutes a day and that's it...)

magimedi · 17/02/2016 08:02

Happy Birthday CV - WIll you go clink clink with your Wine at lunch? [ggrin]

Crem - Hope you can find a new job asap - your employers sound beyond dire.

Hatty - That is so sad & must be very shocking for you. Flowers
