Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

Hah - just typed a long post...

Good Luck CV!

RaquetsHmm My French friend here is rather too hard-core and it has put me off somewhat!

DD seemed fine ehen I heard yesterday. It has turned out to be a win-win situation for all actually - we are having a very relaxing time with just DS!

motherinferior · 16/02/2016 09:21

Panties. It's a word that makes me shudder.

I have to say I found myself thinking how much I like running this morning Shock. It's a wonderful escape.

Rosebag · 16/02/2016 09:35

Good luck CV I think you can get to Richmond by train from your neck of the woods but it might mean a change at the dreaded Clapham Jct! Anyway...feel confident. You have lots to offer them!

Good for you Beachy give it a go. I fear that I will never be able to jog, run etc after the Achilles injury a couple of years ago. It's a sparkling morning in West Sussex. DD wants to go to Arundel for a potter.

Commiserations re dentist magi I hate it too Flowers

I have heard from DS1 who is back in Sydney, after a few weeks in Bali and surrounding Islands. He ate something dodgy and was horribly sick for a few days last week but didn't tell me til he was better. Quite glad. I'd have worried myself sick. He and a mate have rented a flat in central Sydney for a month and DS has interviews with recruiters all week. Once suited workwise, he'll look for another flat for a 3 month term.

Have a good day Crepeys.

Stropperella · 16/02/2016 09:37

Good luck, CV!
MI, try not to feel guilted into spending too much time on the phone to the rellies who are nagging and dumping stuff on you. Easier said than done, I realise. I have no experience of having to field phone calls in that particular situation. At the end of my df's life everyone was just waiting, as it had all simply dragged on too long and he had disappeared quite some time before he actually died.

Rosebag · 16/02/2016 09:41

mrsS all fur coat and no knickers....sorry I just had to say that. Which couldn't be further from the truth of course. Aren't there any knickers for sale in Addis? Have a good flight home. DH once packed for DD when she was younger and I was already down at the flat. He failed to pack knickers, sweaters ( it was winter) and socks, and forgot her coat. Thanks goodness for Peacocks. Grin

herbaceous · 16/02/2016 09:44

Maybe you could set up an automated voice message - if you see it's a RandomRellie calling, leave the machine/voicemail to get it, imparting the salient points, in a kindly yet brisk fashion.

I'd love to love running, but it knackers my knees. Though at the moment my knees hurt anyway. As so my hips. I turned in an u usual fashion in Costa the other day, and the retort of my hip joint banging back into place echoed around the whole shop.

Entertaining trip to the doctor yesterday. I wants to get some topical oestrogen cream for my lady garden, but as DS was with me, felt I should communicate this to the doctor without any rude words. Managed it, remarkably.

I am really not being very productive at the moment. I suppose this is not surprising but I just feel as if I were trudging through sludge.

To be fair to yesterday's non-rellie, she is actually now on board and being very supportive and taking stuff on.

MontserratCaballe · 16/02/2016 11:40

Good luck for today, CV. Sock it to them!

MI - glad relative shaping up to be useful. Can you deploy her to inform others? Is she close enough to offer practical assistance?

Hope pant crisis averted.

Lalsy · 16/02/2016 12:42

It isn't at all surprising, MI, I don't think.

I don't like running (my knees should meet your hips, Herbs, they could start a band) but am definitely calmer and happier since I started doing more exercise, especially weights, very soothing.

motherinferior · 16/02/2016 13:09

Oh dear god DP is doing a hippy t'ai chi session for his new colleagues in York. Be still my beating pelvic floor.

Collymollypuff · 16/02/2016 13:45

Oh, convert me to weights, Lalsy.

Commissioning you for personal training in:

  1. Loving weights
  2. Loving Clapham Junction
Collymollypuff · 16/02/2016 13:46

We could combine the two? In our gym gear?

Lalsy · 16/02/2016 14:03

You are on, Molly Grin.

I accidentally had a one-to-one at my gym (by signing up to something so unpopular no-one else showed up). And a young body building type showed me what to do, and said things like "Those armpits are a thing of beauty". Baffling but pleasing and entertaining. I doubt I'll go much further with the weights but you don't get red and sweaty and your glasses stay on. You also get to grunt, publicly and loudly, which I quite enjoy.

And Herbs, did you mime at the docs? Or what?

hattymattie · 16/02/2016 14:14

Good luck CV - you've probably had your interview by now.

DS off sick with sinuses ans sore throat. Off to buy Vick.

Herbs - re arse worms - the MIL believes we all have worms all the time and the excess come out at the full moon.Hmm

bigTillyMint · 16/02/2016 14:14

Yes Herbs, how on earth did you manage that?!

Hope it's going well CV.

Rose, that sounds so exciting and grown up re your DS. I can't imagine it ever happening with my two, but I bet it will!

Relaxing with a cafe in a cafe after a lot if mountain-walking. No updates from DD so I'm hoping no news is good news

Dreamqueen · 16/02/2016 14:38

OMG I just can't keep up on here, so apologies for random thoughts & comments.
CV good luck with your interview.

I'm so jealous of all you lady joggers. I've tried but failed miserably. Man at gym said some of us aren't built to run. Hmm but like Laisy I do like weights when i can motivate myself.

CV what did you order from Hush? I really like their stuff but also returned quite a bit from my last sale splurge ( bad quality construction on some items) I love thier basics long sleeve T shirts & their tank tops. They're great value when in the sale & wash very well.

Wine for everyone who has ongoing aged parent stuff going on.
& Wine for everyone on half term or holiday.
I'm sorry not to be able to come to Fortnums but would like to do a MU in the future.
I go away next week & am panicing that most of my warmer weather stuff has got a bit tight! i'm frantically shopping online for the next size up Blush

MontserratCaballe · 16/02/2016 14:52

I too conducted a rather bracing ladyjog this morning. Am actually quite enjoying it after years of loathing every minute

Yes, Herbs, what is the "give us a clue" accepted sign for fanny?

Can I also ask what's wrong with Clapham junction? I used to love round there and loved it. Only moved to Kennington as priced out and now much further south east. Ardung and Hobbs was the John Lewis of the South. What's not to love?

Lalsy · 16/02/2016 15:08

It is very pleasing, I think, trying a new kind of exercise - what ever it is - in the crepey years and liking it and getting better at it. Doesn't matter how badly I think.

Collymollypuff · 16/02/2016 15:19

Monty, fear and panic at Clapham Jnctn is just my personal thing...too many exits, platforms, people...But yes, A&H is now Debenhams and if you park free in Asda, tis a good place to meet for coffee. In fact, maybe we should have a Crepey MU there. Mind you, Debenhams café isn't the best café round there at all. Charity shop shopping in Northcote Rd is rather splendid. No disrespect to the area, just personal animosity towards the station. End rant.

motherinferior · 16/02/2016 15:25

Herbs, did you say Down There in a hushed whisper?

Rosebag · 16/02/2016 15:32

Not sure monty I've never been there...Clapham I mean. There wasn't universal love expressed on this board for it recently!

Have a lovely time away DQ and I'm sure you'll make it to a future MU where you'll be really welcome.

tilly sounds (and looks re fb photos) lovely there. I guess we start to recognise the DC need to grow away from us at times like this, and when we let them go, it's not all bad. I miss DS1 dreadfully at times being the one non teen in my brood. But he's been such a good boy....didn't have a gap year and has sorted himself out workwise, flat wise etc. I'm excited for him and with whatsapp, FaceTime and Facebook he doesn't feel as far away as he really is.

I feel ashamed of myself but I have left DD in the flat just to get some space from her. I am in the village tea shop with tea and cake, on the pretence of shopping for some basic supplies. Blush She really is driving me quite mad and didn't do her agreed quota of homework this morning properly. Angry

Rosebag · 16/02/2016 15:34

molly I'm like that about changing at Holborn. It's a mob....

herbaceous · 16/02/2016 16:15

Molly - I used to work at Clapham junction, so had to use the station every day. Twice. I found it less unpleasant than, for example, Oxford Circus.

Re doctor charades I used complex language, such as 'oestrogen cream' and 'topical application'. I said this words sotto voce, while hoisting my bosom, Les Dawsin style.

At DS swimming lesson. So many children are away he has a teacher all to himself!
