Evening,

I got bored with the expensive thread too Blair and also did my own assessing of people out and about today. One thing I noticed is that bad fake fur on parkas/down coats looks terrible. It needs to be really well done or better to go for plain hood. Also don't agree that prints necessarily look cheaper than monochrome. I adore Marni and also Equipment florals like this shirt which reminds me of a Dutch still life painting, gorgeous florals. People shouldn't over curtail their natural taste to fit in with some generalised idea of classic chic.

lib loved the sound of your ootd today.

Blair that's rubbish re the boots. I was looking for some fur lined ones for ds and gave up for that same reason. Not going to bother now as it's not cold enough.

Blingy your new coat is gorgeous. Glad you got the fab Burberry customer experience too!

Love that we are all so different on the thread eg Blingy's simple work outfit and One's plain outfit are just the opposite for me!

I looked at some more sales today but not inspired. Know lots of you are fans but I really don't get jcrew, seems like it's trying to cover every base rather than have a sharp brand identity and the price points are all over the place.

Only purchase was epiphany cake from my favourite cake shop. The clean eating can wait until next week Cake

Me too mara, we just ate homemade carbonara and it was seriously rich! Mmm. I agree on the prints, Equipment do gorgeous ones, and I do often think Marni is very you.

I think J crew do some things very well, I love all my things from there, but have repeat bought rather than trying lots of different things - as you say the prices can be crazy and you have to decide what's good value.

shop that's good to know re insoles! Karcheer I have considered them, the waterproof or resistant type ones, it's an option. I liked the "smartness" of the Burberrys though.

Karcheer · 06/01/2016 20:45

Petite ladies which jeans are you wearing at the moment?
I really can't cope with just two pairs, need to order some more tonight. I've studied my Frame ones tonight and I think they are too skinny :/...

MarshaBrady · 06/01/2016 21:11

I'm not petite but for some reason I think J Crew and Zara might be good.

I love prints too, think they can look very stylish and expensive

We have touch down on the Lanvins - hasn't been a box opening post for a while

Hello all, manic couple of days so just been trying to catch up.

Firstly, one let me give you a big hug. Poor little onecat and poor you.

I was just about to check out the expensive thread but maybe won't bother now!

My ootd was black cords, mink colour boots, blue patterned Toast blouse with indigo cardi. Accesorised with silver back pack, silver bracelets and pink lippy.

I love that Equipment silk shirt

safetyzone · 06/01/2016 21:13

Karcheer, I'm 5 foot, I used to like J Brand but the recent pair I bought I find them too thin (it had 6% polyester in the fabric mix, not sure if that was the reason).

Just bought the R13 ones (linked here) and the denim feels nice and thick but surprisingly comfy! I'll report back once I've tried them on properly.

Question from me, I'm going out to see mummy friends tomorrow night, I think I'll be going straight from work. Was thinking of wearing the jeans above with my Topshop feather jacket, is it going to be too boring? Not sure about footwear either. Hmm.

Longislandicetee · 06/01/2016 21:14

Ooooh Marsha!!!! am excited!

Karcheer, I wear j crew and gap jeans. J crew ones are fantastic.

Karcheer · 06/01/2016 21:24

Arrr love my Lanvins.

Ok will order some j crews...

MarshaBrady · 06/01/2016 21:40

Oh they look a bit different to the pic colour.
Not sure if it's the lighting in here, but they look more nude than blush nude.

Not sure! Will take a pic in clear light

Drywhitethanks · 06/01/2016 21:57

Marsha can't wait to see them.

One posted but didn't work this morning to say that I'm so sorry about your cat.

Blair how long is the cardigan you wore belted on over your Me and E dress? Think I could wear longer cardigan to my work with Linus' dress.

Mara I often see fake fur trim on hoods that look a bit mangy. I aldo need more print in my wardrobe.

Yes yes to OOTD...I was in camel and black today. Boden a line camel skirt, black merino crew from Gap, black knee boots, Burberry cashmere scarf Shop it's working hard

Drywhitethanks · 06/01/2016 21:58

J Vinerec slippers still haven't come Sad

KittyHello · 06/01/2016 22:43

Safety I think your outfit should be fine, are you going to a dressy place or fairly casual?

Blair what a con with the boots? Will you still keep them?

Blingy and Viva sorry to hear you're both feeing unwell Flowers

Karcheer I'm short and wear cheap n cheerful Next petite skinny jeans, they seem to fit me just right, haven't got round to upgrading to premium denim yet.

Mara I get what you mean about JCrew, it's filled my GAP hole, have really gone off Gap lately. Like Blair I repeat buy their Tippis. I buy online but as they've stopped free returns I'm unlikely to try something new as their sizing is vanity to the extreme and don't want to pay for returns Grin

Unfortunately the GD tweed jacket is going back, it's just too classic for me and is just not me, it's too neat.

Loving the Ootd thanks for kicking it back off Blair makes me think a bit more about what to wear, wore my Pixie pants today and forgot how nice and comfy they are to wear. Am working tomorrow so will try a bit harder rather than resort to black cigarette pants and Me & Em top.

maradesbois · 06/01/2016 23:05

Kitty I didn't want to say earlier as you'd already ordered but didn't think that jacket was you at all. Think I felt a bit overwhelmed by jcrew, don't normally go in there so didn't know where to start but good to know for jumpers.

safety feather jacket sounds anything but boring Grin

Blair and Dry love the sound of long belted cardigan.

Marsha looking forward to the reveal pic!

safetyzone · 06/01/2016 23:24

Kitty the place looks quite casual but want to make a bit of an effort!

Mara I hope it's not too ott either! Haven't been out in a while Smile

maradesbois · 06/01/2016 23:29

safety you'll look fab, not ott at all. Not sure what shoes you wear to work but if flats you could take heels to change into so you feel more in going out mode. Have fun!

Drywhitethanks · 07/01/2016 06:47

OOTD black cigarette trousers, tan R and B Chelsea boots, grey merino 3/4 boxy jumper Jigsaw, Paul Smith grey/tan/mauve scarf.

It's raining still Sad

QueenC · 07/01/2016 08:20

dry has the rain not stopped at all with you? I didn't realise just how quite depressing I'd been finding the weather until it's been dry and sunny for the last 2 days.
Ootd navy Jaegar Jersey dress, navy tights, navy loafers. Have added a fuschia string bracelet for a bit of colour and of course some damson lipstick!

Hello lovelies!
Just popping in to offer my advice on denim , shop have you considered branching out and trying other brands? I swear by mother looker skinnies and R& B skinnies, these are the best skinnies ever, for straight legs I prefer ACne and the ROW, again the best pair of straight legs I've tried, I cleared out most of my denim and just have a few pairs left, waiting for further reductions to stock up some more.

karcheer, that is a seriously gorgeous blazer .love!

shopafrolic · 07/01/2016 09:15

Waves to Lara - do they work on long legs? The reason I've always favoured Paige, CE and 7FAM was leg length.
Still raining here QueenC rubbish.

safetyzone · 07/01/2016 09:16

Put my R13 jeans on today. It's love. Makes me feel better about my legs! Let's see how they last at the end of the day.

Lara, have heard good things about R&B, never tried it though. Maybe when I want to buy some grey jeans.

Longislandicetee · 07/01/2016 09:35

Morning everyone. Still feeling rough not helped by poor ds who had a dream he was being chased by sharks and turned up at 3am. We have a super king sized bed yet he snuggles right into me to squeeze me out of it!Smile

Ootd is classic look. Lk Bennett ariella dress in navy with RB shoe boots. Same accessories as yesterday (Butberry coat, PS13 bag, tag watch and Tiffanys studs, necklace and rings) except instead of my raindance ring I am wearing tanzanite halo ring and diamond and sapphire bracelet.

LinusLovesBretons · 07/01/2016 09:36

Rubbish weather here as well! Very depressing!

Won't bore you all with my OOTD as it's a boring version of skinnies and jumper with added bling.

I really hope the R&B skinnies I ordered are nice lara, I actually tried some on in store but as they were two sizes to small for me the button didn't close so I couldn't really tell. Grin

marsha I hope the colour looks ok this morning!

With regard to J Crew, I only buy my staples: tees and Tippis as I have found that the other items I ordered in the past were not good quality.

kitty shame about the jacket, I do tend to dress down classic items like that with denim otherwise it's a bit too grown-up for my style.

LinusLovesBretons · 07/01/2016 09:38

I hope you start to feel better soon blingy (DC waking you up in the night is not going to help of course looks at DD who wet the bed two nights ago )

And you too viva!

libertydoddle · 07/01/2016 09:48

Morning all. Hope blingy and viva have easy days to recover.

OOTD is same black boden skirt as yesterday with black opaques and black Dune brogues. Beige sleeveless Uniqlo silk shirt with forest green cropped French Connection boxy jacket. Same bling, bag and coat as yesterday.

Raining here too. January is such a drag Sad
