hello all

lovely links as always QueenC

onecat is much improved but there's a chance this is an ongoing issue so i have to take her back in the new year for further tests, shes displaying many symptoms that could be related to her thyroid apparently. it's going to be hellishly expensive but she's my girl, my companion and i'll pay whatever it costs to get her well, don't like to think any other way tbh. insurance will cover a lot of it but what it won't, i will pay for, i won't leave her to suffer at all

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 13/12/2015 13:03

They are lovely links. I like those Bretons. Need to return something to Uniqlo later so will have a look.

Agree on the shoe thing Amber with flares. Thats another reason why I don't wear mine. Would really rather go and try jeans on all afternoon but must start the Xmas shopping instead.

libertydoddle · 13/12/2015 16:32

Back home. Shattered!

Marsha have pm'd you. I urgently need a party entertainer!

Great links QueenC. Love that gold DVF bag especially.

Have just had a nap. Now need to unpack and sort out clothes for the week. So many meetings over next 5 days.

libertydoddle · 13/12/2015 16:36

Welcome if. I cannot do flares. But also I am a fashion laggard. They would need about 5 years of general wide population wear before I could even consider them Grin

I stupidly promised DD on the plane that we would put up the Christmas tree tonight. What was I thinking???? Wondering what I can bribe her with to persuade her we can so it tomorrow....

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2015 17:04

Lib welcome back! Have pm'd you, good luck. They are really good if they have someone left. We were a bit late booking and got lucky. Fingers crossed they have someone.

MarshaBrady · 13/12/2015 17:05

Welcome If I haven't got into the flare trend. I like the idea, but find them difficult in reality.

Drywhitethanks · 13/12/2015 17:14

Welcome home Liberty

libertydoddle · 13/12/2015 17:33

Thanks Marsha.

dry queen of entertaining! Just the woman I need. If you had been foolish enough to invite 12 adults along with the kids and told the adults there would be 'festive treats and bubbles' and then realised you had (1) no time for much cooking / prep and (2) that your group includes the following dietary requirements - veggie, halal and coeliac what would you serve?

shopafrolic · 13/12/2015 18:44

Two pages in and I'm only just marking my place.

QueenC · 13/12/2015 18:49

lib are you actually making stuff or happy to buy? If buying veggie is easy as can get all sorts of vol au vents, mini quiches, Brie and cranberry things. Halal presumably can eat veggie stuff as not sure how easy it is to get halal meat?? I have no clue really what halal meat is being a veggie myself. Coeliac is a bit more tricky but most supermarkets have a free from range that do bread/sausages/cakes etc.
M&s had half price party food the other day and sainsburys is usually 3 for 2 or something. Do you have a Cook? They do really nice stuff. Othetwise if you want to make stuff I can give you ideas too...

Hello again. I am looking at similar challenges.

How about mini plum tomatoes with halved small mozzarella balls and basil? That would suit most except vegan I think anyway.

For sweet stuff maybe a compliant traybake recipe with the bake cut into tiny bite sized squares? Brownie style?

QueenC · 13/12/2015 22:06

if I made mozzarella, tomato and basil on sticks for Friday night. They went down really well. People also liked my retro cheese and pineapple on sticks.

Don't worry shop I'm even later than you! Thanks for new thread QueenC, Sunday morning is a great time to start us off :)

Hello if. I bought MiH Marrakech (the old style non skinny ones) but had them shortened a bit too much, so I don't have any shoes that look right with them. It's really difficult to get the length right, unless you are of Amazonian proportions heightwise like shop and Marsha. The original length on mine was 35in! So I agree with Amber.

Sorry to hear about onecat's potential ongoing issues but glad she is improved for now.

Welcome home Lib! Yes, if you are happy to buy the nibbles then it's probably a good time to get offers in the supermarkets.

I'm definitely feeling better, and I've just had a weekend with my mum and siblings so am actually feeling Christmassy, especially as I got home to find DH had put up and decorated the tree. :) cheers all! Wine

MarshaBrady · 14/12/2015 09:22

Blair I'm pleased you're feeling a bit better. Hope today is good.

I have a day off as does Dh, so we can go to ds' Christmas play then hang out. So nice!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/12/2015 10:03

thanks blair glad to hear you are felling brighter Thanks

of all weeks for it to happen, my hard drive has gone missing! I'm having a break from tearing the flat apart looking for it, it has to be here somewhere, it isnt at college and hasnt been handed into lost property which means ithas to e here somewhere. just can't believe it's disappeared on this of all weeks!

libertydoddle · 14/12/2015 11:05

What a pita one. Hope it turns up.

I have food poisoning Sad. D&V from about 7pm yesterday until 5am this morning. DH has it too but thankfully not DD. Feel utterly wiped out and had to send apologies to 4 meetings. Feel like I will never eat again. Shuddering at the thought.

MarshaBrady · 14/12/2015 11:29

Oh no Lib what awful luck, Sad hope it passes quickly - you poor things

One oh no too, have you lost much? Hope it turns up soon

QueenC · 14/12/2015 12:24

Oh no lib. Better now though than on holiday or over Christmas.
one hope you find it
marsha my ds play is today too. Dh is off work all week as working over Xmas/new year. It was nice to have him to sort dc out this morning.

Had a bit of a girl crush on a random stranger today. Saw a woman from behind and I noticed her gorgeous velvet brocade bag but she was also wearing a lovely long olive coat and knee high reddy brown boots. She said then turned round and had the most gorgeous red lipstick on. She just looked fab.

The gap silver bag came at the weekend (v quick delivery) but have returned it as despite loving the shape/colour it just looked a bit plasticky. You lot have turned me into a bag snob Grin. I also returned the MK one but ended up trying on the DKNY one again and deciding that I could live with the size of it so got that one. Christmas money from IL had paid for most of it. linus I tried the Hobbs bag-it really is lovely but I really wanted cross body.

Just wondering what's on everyone's Christmas lists? I've asked for dressing gown, jewellery box, another handbag and bracelet. I won't get everything which is fine as I got loads for my birthday but he wanted ideas.

Afternoon,

Gosh I am late to new thread too. Thanks for setting up queenc.

Having a quick lunch break after handing in my essay, wahey! Am not convinced by it but just glad to see the back of it and start enjoying the countdown to Christmas.

QueenC glad you got a silver bag you're happy with. I keep getting emails from Aspinall with big discounts and quite like the look of some of their stuff. Anyone have one?

Dh is getting me this coat for Christmas. He likes to get a surprise which is nice but I really wanted this one and don't think it'll be around in sales (will be cross if it is though!)

I got the MiH skinny Marrakesh and still like them. Kept the leg length v long to wear with heels only as didn't want them for daytime. Think they are pretty flattering.

Lib welcome home and good luck with party Grin. I would do a big bagna cauda with loads of raw veg pieces, breadsticks etc then cold meats & cheese from deli plus mince pies if you can be bothered/have time to make otherwise slices of pannetone.

Shop how is kitchen looking now? Sounds like you've got a houseful for Christmas, love a big group for Christmas lunch which is good job as think there are 16 of us including dc this year.

Blair glad you've been feeling a bit better but don't overdo it

Now that millstone of essay has been lifted I need to crack on with Christmas prep and shopping. Ds needs Christmas jumper and headgear for school concert, will nip to sainsbury's tonight in hope they aren't sold out.

Now am free of

Drywhitethanks · 14/12/2015 13:11

Absolutely nothing on Christmas list could be dangerous. Feeling snug on train home after a successful Xmas shopping blitz.

liberty so sorry I missed your question. I'll second mozzarella balls with basil and cherry toms with a little pesto.
Big prawns to dip.
Easy dip is cream cheese with sweet chilli sauce poured over moorish
I'd just be loads of dips, a cheeseboard and loads of gf mince pies.
