And a belated Happy Birthday justa!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend in London!

MarshaBrady · 02/01/2016 13:19

Happy birthday Justa Cake [fizz] have a wonderful time in London!

Stokey · 02/01/2016 13:58

Hope DH is feeling better Shop, sounds very stressful.

I managed to spill something on my suede skirt on NYE. The label says Do not wash, do not Tumble dry... So basically never get dirty. Any cleaning tips?

FedupNagging · 02/01/2016 13:59

Lovely post Blingy Smile

Belated happy birthday Justa; hope you're having a lovely time.

Marsha so pleased you finally ordered the blush Lanvins.

Love the TS boots Safety did you order?

Not so keen on the distressed trainers Queen linked though - can't imagine actually buying 'dirty' trainers - same as jeans, I like them to be rip free yes, I am well aware I am missing the point Grin

Shop hope MrShop is ok today. Dh had 3 days of icepick headaches recently which Iam definitely putting down to stress.

Lib am most impressed with your NYE stamina. 2 very late nights in 3 days plus copius amounts of alcohol finally caught up with me yesterday afternoon/evening and I ended up with a migraine and feeling incredibly sick. Feel much better today but need to remember no matter how much I might want to socialise like I did 10 years ago, my body thinks otherwise!

shopafrolic · 02/01/2016 14:11

Thanks all - DH is in bed asleep. I think you're right Blingy - his financial year closes 31st Dec and this year has been even more stressful with the takeover. He goes from high pressure storming from meeting to meeting to sloth like Christmas behaviour, over eating, rich food, lots of booze. He starts of sleeping loads, then gets terrible back pain and then this stomach issue. Not sure where to start with full tests - speak to his GP I guess? Last time around the hospital gave no explanation - nothing showed up on scans etc so it was put down to stress and just a gastric issue.....

LinusLovesBretons · 02/01/2016 15:02

Gah I only just re-read my post and realise it's full of spelling mistakes. Angry

KittyHello · 02/01/2016 15:39

Shop dh's job sounds incredibly stressful, Flowers hope he starts feeling better soon.

Happy birthday Justa hope you're having a great time in Ldn.

Call me odd but I liked those pre-worn look trainers, i like Golden Goose too.

Okay have done some sales shopping

have finally found my holy grail of black cross body bag, at last and

this knit from Maje

really like this look especially with the boots

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 02/01/2016 16:11

Hello. I popped in before. And am back again just to say love that bag and jumper. Both gorgeous.

I'm looking for a tan bag like that myself.

maradesbois · 02/01/2016 16:31

Happy New Year all!

Just back, had a lovely time but happy to be home. Already unpacked, put washing on and relaxing with tea while dh and ds build lego, domestic bliss!

Shop fwiw my dh lives on adrenalin too, only time he's ever been properly ill since I've known him was during a period of enforced leave between jobs when the work stress was zero, like the body readjusting from being constantly in fight or flight mode. Exercise should help, not sure if he is sporty?

Topaz , re HK would definitely stay in Central if possible.

Kitty fab sale buys and v happy for you that you got your bag!

Stokey no idea about suede care, can you not brush it off like with shoes?

shopafrolic · 02/01/2016 17:14

Stokey you can buy suede spot cleaner I believe....

Dreamqueen · 02/01/2016 17:37

Thank you for the welcome on here, I'm planning on staying because since I've been lurking i've picked up lots of style tips.

i'm planning to up my style and beauty game in 2016, from slovenly to stylish hopefully!

AmberNectarine · 02/01/2016 18:27

Evening all

Had grim but short lived hangover yesterday during which I swore off booze altogether - was back on the fizz by 8pm. Dry Jan not an option for me as its one of my very best friend's birthday next weekend and that's always a big sesh, plus I have a few nights out in the diary already. Shame.

Went to visit extended family today - was lovely. Wore goldsign skinnies; burgundy roll neck sweater and the leopard Sam Edelman Karen boots (which I LOVE). Also my new Stella bag which I'm really enjoying.

No sales shopping to report apart from a cashmere Johnstons of Elgin hat. Considering a few bits.

shop, really hope DH feels better soon. Must be so worrying for you xx I really worry about my DH's lifestyle (12-16h days, every day) catching up with him. He never seems to get stressed somehow (I need a bit of that!)

shopafrolic · 02/01/2016 18:28

Good news DreamQueen

shopafrolic · 02/01/2016 18:31

Amber aren't the Karen boots comfortable?- I love mine. Reckon I could dance on them all night (if I had the chance).
DH seems a lot better now but I hear you on the worry. His body shape is prime candidate for heart issues. He has said he'll try to eat more healthily as we go into this New Year so perhaps he's had a scare.

Karcheer · 02/01/2016 20:45

stokey I'd take it to the dry cleaners but then I ruin everything...
shop when I had a proper job I caught a cold every holiday :( I worry about my dh too amber he works all the time! travels all the time and jumps between time zones constantly.

KittyHello · 02/01/2016 21:16

Thank you ifyoureHappy are you plan on staying with us , we'll try our best to look for a tan bag for you.

Hello and welcome Dream glad you're planning on sticking around.

Good to hear dh is on the mend Shop

Amber great outfit today, love those leopard SE boots

No dry January here, no resolutions or anything starts until Monday, sitting here munching Xmas chocolates and drinking Prosecco.

Longislandicetee · 03/01/2016 00:16

Hello! Very busy couple of days! Yesterday we had 12 people round for New Year's Day dinner, which was a late night and today we have had friends over for the day, (and overnight).

Anyway, just wanted to say I loved Kitty's maje knit, to wave to Dream and if and everyone else. Also hoping Justa having a lovely birthday weekend.

Shop, dh and I have the equivalent of BUPA peak which is their complete health assessments usually involving about 3 hours at the clinic. It is offered by our employers so we don't pay. I see its £798 but I also saw that they currently have a 25% discount on it so its £600. They have other less intensive tests which are cheaper but this is the full thing. Have a look at what his health benefits package is from work because he might get access to some or all of this (either from BUPA or Axa etc). You can get your GP to order the same tests (for free!) so I would start there, but he has to accept it will probably take a few appointments. Thanks

Cranagh · 03/01/2016 00:46

Hope your dh feels better soon, Shop.

Darn it, Amber I tried to cancel those boots but I hope they don't get the message - I want!

I am going to return the hat. I look more like my dad going shooting than urban cool. Too big, too dark. Bah. Another return I have to pay for.

Hope you are having a blast, Justa!

safetyzone · 03/01/2016 08:54

Fedup, have just ordered the boots, will report back.

Justa belated happy birthday, sorry I missed it earlier!

Saw this sweater on Pinterest in a different colour previously and really liked it, but I'm only 5 foot, is it going to swamp me?

Drywhitethanks · 03/01/2016 09:38

Morning.

shophope your DH feels better. Scary stuff indeed. Hugs to you X

All I can say is ugh. It's been a great Xmas but recently totally bonkers. I really do need to have a dry period, less rich food, early nights and a lot of gym. But it's been great fun. Grin

QueenC · 03/01/2016 09:44

Morning all.
Happy belated birthday to justa.
cranagh shame you're returning the hat but they are the one thing I find you need to feel really confident about.
shop hope Dh is ok. If he's ususlly ok then I'm not sure that a GP will do any tests etc unless there's ongoing issues. It sounds like he had an acute attack of something and is all settled now? Does he drink more than usual at Christmas? Or eat more fatty foods? Sounds like it could possibly be gallstones or something but if he was scanned last year that would have shown up. It's also a standing joke in our house that whenever Dh is on holiday he gets a bad cold. I reckon when we go away at half term he will be ill as he's worked 100s of hours over Christmas/new year and we've hardly seen him. Hospital is now on black alert (no beds) so it's literally all hands on deck.

I'm on a big mission to lose 6lbs as ive never quite lost the excess that I put on over the summer. I'm hoping that no drinking for 3 weeks will help as I won't have the hangover induced munchies.

MarshaBrady · 03/01/2016 10:27

I need a break from alcohol. Last night I didn't have any and thought oh a glass of wine would be nice. I'm still going for runs but I realise how the walking to work from the station, not drinking and running home is pretty good for me. Will have to get back into the zone.

Justa hope you've had a lovely time

Karcheer · 03/01/2016 10:50

I've loads of spots on my chin, I googled what it was, stomach, too much rich food etc... Time for a detox here too.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2016 12:59

You'd better all be back off the wagon by the 23rd Wink (which is really soon btw!)

shop your poor DH, hope the start of a new financial year means less stress for a while and the opportunity to get his health properly assessed. Flowers

stokey I've never tried to have leather/suede cleaned but have read that it needs a specialist. Your dry cleaners might be able to send it off to someone but I imagine it could take a while.

Reading the blogger thread... makes me wonder how many of these UK mum blogs (I tend to read younger blogs) lurk or even post on MN, and whether any of them are MNV lurkers? reading for tips!

Back to work tomorrow. I'm really nervous, my body clock still isn't right and the last 2 nights I've taken an hour or two to drop off to sleep. Still, all I can do is go in, as I won't know how I feel until I'm there. Really hope it's OK.

shopafrolic · 03/01/2016 14:14

Blair your office should support you in your return. When I had a chunk of time off HR worked with me to do shorter days initially. Will be thinking of you. Take it easy.
QueenC the back pain is ongoing, the stomach pains have happened three times in two years. Two of which were at Christmas so I think it is rich food and lack of movement.
We all went to the woods in the pouring rain this morning - DS had a great time jumping in muddy puddles. Home watching a movie now and then roast chicken later with lots of veggies for DH!
Karcheer interesting about spots on chin, I have a cluster on the right side of my chin right now, probably explains it.
Cranagh shame about the hat.
