Canaries first as I liked it last time, but the north part of the island wasn't the right weather and that still bugs me! But steady, hot, cloudless weather a must so wouldn't do North Tenerife this time. Hmm where else? If somewhere like Crete is hot enough then there, but not sure it will be.

NYE - just a few friends, nothing big. An excuse for the champers.

Can't believe dh used the word substituted. How does Veuve C beomce Valdo in anyone's minds? Have been thinking about this for a few days. Boggling at it.

AmberNectarine · 30/12/2015 17:05

Interestingly, I once had Laurent Perrier substituted for prosecco by Asda. Didn't grumble about that!

DS is 6 today - have Lego fatigue! Have made a police car and robbers car, a space port, a tractor and a coach. Never mind all the stuff I made one Xmas day!

Red shoes look great Dry - I am wearing my red Dune Cristinas today with black goldsign skinnies and a black star print shirt from Jack Wills. Need to think about what to wear tomorrow night now!

safetyzone · 30/12/2015 17:46

Marsha, sorry for late reply, the jeans are still en route but I'll let you know if they fit! Did a bit of research on denim and these came up. Hope they're good.

In answer to QueenC's Qs:

Best buys - J Crew stuff I picked up in the US - chambray shirt, blazer and Tippi. So versatile.

Mistake buys - some of the more dressed up pieces that I don't have any occasion to wear as of this year. A lacy ASOS dress still sitting in the wardrobe untouched, my marabou jacket is still a bit unknown...

Resolution - wardrobe audit. I have loads of stuff that I need to revisit/get rid of, I'm running out of space.

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 18:44

Belated happy birthday, Justa, love the bag and boots.

Blingy, I just love the Celine Nano.

Hi Liberty will you be in Dublin? Let me know if you have time to meet, I don't use the UK number anymore and have left my phone in my dad's house but if you have my email address still, I check that often. Hope you have a good time.

Mistakes - I got rid of a lot before leaving London. Anything from Zara and Me & Em falls apart, they are off my list

Resolutions - try to learn how to do my hair, I'm rubbish at that. And stick to my budget and not fall for the latest bag. I'm pretty good at sticking to what I've pinned.

You're in my favourite country, Mara, hope you're having a great time!

This sweater arrived today from All Saints, I should return it as spent a lot on the coat but I love the colour and fit. Also got this hat. Trying to decide if I look like a plonker or not in it!

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 18:44

Hope you're ok, Shop Flowers

shopafrolic · 30/12/2015 19:03

Cranagh it's so lovely to have you back here. Missed you (and your always on point sizing advice). I need new skinny jeans. I just can't get on with the GAP true resolution ones, they bag at the crotch and make me look like a bloke. My best ever jeans were Goldsign Lures but not sure I can stretch to them again. Any other great brands at the moment for the long of leg?
Also I seem to have emailed a recruitment consultant today about a potential job - not quite sure what came over me Grin

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 19:15

Thanks Shop, good luck with the job. I love Rag & Bone and Current/Elliott skinny jeans. I do like the Gap jeans but R&B blow them out of the water.

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 19:15

Unfortunately similar prices to Goldsign though.

Karcheer · 30/12/2015 19:22

I really like my Frame jeans.

shopafrolic · 30/12/2015 19:27

I tried Frame I seem to remember - not a good fit on me will take a look at Rag & Bone and Current E. What's the sizing like Cranagh would I be a 29?

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 21:12

I have grey Frames, which I like, but they are a bit short. I take a 29 in them, Shop, think you are the same size as me. Actually I found R&B in TK Maxx last year.

shopafrolic · 30/12/2015 21:23

Love that hat Cranagh
Why oh why is my local TK Maxx so rubbish? Will have another look in the New Year but to date it has been useless for anything other than Dartington Crystal wine glasses!

justasecond · 30/12/2015 22:43

Lovely hat and jumperCranagh you could defo wear the hat without looking like a plonker! btw my birthday is on sat. I have started using the bag already though Blush
Yay we are boot twins marsha did you get the soles rubberized on yours? bit worried the leather soles won't like wet weather.
shop hope you feel better soon. Jeans shopping is a pain although I struck gold with some Koral ones from tkmaxx recently these they hold in everything and stay up all day worth a try if you see your size in store
Blingy I really like the Givenchy Antigona. I saw the new nightingale the other day and really liked that too but then always prefer a less structured bag.
Those red jemima vine shoes are gorgeous.

QueenC · 30/12/2015 23:07

shop shame you don't get on with gap resolution as I love them. That should be another resolution if mine though-to actually try some other jeans!
Good buy dry
shop adore those Boden heels (and still often check out those boden boots with the cut out at the front) but I can't justify any more heels. Look forward to hearing more about the job
cranagh I must pm you as I need all your tips/advice about dublin!

Hello everyone, it's so lovely to read that fab Christmases were had by all! I've just got home today after 3 days at DM's and 3 days at PIL's, away from my laptop Grin As I don't have a tablet and knew I wouldn't be able to keep up on my phone (hate it) I have been relaxing without much internet use. Bad me. I'm going to try and write a proper post to catch up.

First off, I'm definitely so up for MU on 23rd... not sure I will be drinking much (tomorrow I'm driving to a NYE party...ugh) but I'm really looking forward to it!

My Christmas was lovely and I got lots of lovely things. A neon peach Tippi, Hush pyjamas, beautiful pearl studs from DH, various gorgeous smellies/candles/diffusers. But my favourite present was a beautiful pair of curtains made by MIL for our spare room. Love her :)

Right, reading back...
shop maybe if you get the job you can get the Goldsigns? Wink Agree on Canaries, will be lovely temp at Easter. Hope you're ok.
Blingy sorry to hear about the Christmas stress but hopefully it's all forgotten now. My DSis's 31 year old boyfriend stormed off from a family game over some light cheating, I'm not sure what it is about Christmas that can make these things happen! I absolutely love the watch your DH chose :) and agree MK clothes really suit you, I think it's because they are usually a bit blingy! (A good thing!)
Marsha love the champagne story and your DH's sense of humour!
Dry glad the party went well, great pics on fb. And love the new shoes of course.
Mara hope you're having a fabulous time in warmer climes with good Wine.
One your Christmas presents from DP all sound so you, lovely to read!
to Lara and Cranagh, hope you're both well.
Lib beautiful coat, the right choice I think! It's funny how those big lapels suit you so well but looked odd on me (on the Maxmara coat I returned) and we're meant to have the same CP. Hope you're having a lovely time away.
Stokey my mum has Labyrinth, I hate it because I always seem to get the worst combo of cards (am probably just rubbish at it!)
Justa love both the boots and bag, real investment buys :)
Fedup have you decided on your boots?
Karcheer I'm sure we'll all be able to help with your first resolution!
And to everyone else I've missed, sorry...

My McQ scarf arrived just in time on Christmas Eve and it's perfect, the colours are just right for me and I do find scarves hard. No other sales shopping... yet.

-Best buy of 2015 for me was probably the Whistles cropped biker.
-Worst could be a few things, I'll say Topshop flat snake ghillies, they just tear my feet to shreds and will probably be donated to DSis, a ghillie fan (like Dry and shop).
-Resolution is to put together a perfect holiday capsule wardrobe before the end of April as we've booked our flights for our (much delayed) sort-of-honeymoon to Asia. We are going to HK for 2 weeks, will be spending 5 days in Japan (Tokyo) in the middle of that and also popping to mainland China and Macau. Very, very excited.

Like Marsha this is the longest post ever. Making up for 6 days worth! Anyway, glad to be back Grin

Cranagh · 30/12/2015 23:31

Your honeymoon sounds wonderful, Blair, worth waiting for.

Justa, what have you planned for Saturday?

QueenC, happy to advise!

The TK Maxx near me now is not great, Shop, I got them in a London TKM. Send your DH over to the US for work again!

DH didn't laugh at the hat like I thought he would and normally he is very scathing so I'm going to keep it, I think!

Stokey · 31/12/2015 08:43

Have you tried Paige jeans Shop? We're vastly different shapes but I find them a great fit, or come up to London one day and try the Selfridge's denim clinic? I'll be happy to join you Grin. Exciting about the job.

I think as far away as you can manage for Easter. A couple of non-Europe ideas: Florida/Mexico, Caribbean style beaches without the price tag, warm seas and sandy beaches. South Africa, no jet lag as no time difference. Or southeast Asia is great at that time of year, Goa, Kerala, Sri Lanka.

Sorry I couldn't make the party Dry Grin, sounds fab.

Christmas sounds lovely Blair and glad you're feeling better, your honeymoon sounds very exciting. HK is a great place to get some tailor made clothes for you & DH. DB lived there for a few years and had lots of

Stokey · 31/12/2015 08:45

... Work shirts made.

I may be able to come for a bit on 23rd but have to take it easy as am looking after a friend's child for a sleepover that night. But sure if I'll have enough self restraint to come & go again!

Longislandicetee · 31/12/2015 09:14

Morning! Lovely to hear you sounding well Blair! Excited about your honeymoon for you.

Would be good to see you Stokey!

Dh has agreed to do an extra holiday in 2016. Instead of 2 overseas holidays (1x 1 week and 1 x 2 week holiday) we are doing 3 overseas holidays (1x 1 week and 2 x 10 days holiday) which I am v happy about. Have no idea why he agreed but like Shop I want to book quickly before he changes his mind! First will be long haul, second Algarve and just need destination for the 3rd.

Karcheer · 31/12/2015 09:34

blair your honeymoon sounds fab!
blingy I'm going to try and do three hols this year too was thinking of a couple of city breaks too ;) end February might be good, I'm really tempted to book a ski hol for then, I'm not a huge fan but dh loves it. I'd need somewhere where I could do ski school I think as I scared myself on ice last time and need to build up my confidence and somewhere that's good for dh, he's very experienced... Or I could book somewhere sunny...

QueenC · 31/12/2015 09:47

I love thinkng about holidays. No idea what we will do in the summer as we're saving for Florida for 2017.
blair I have a friend in HK so if you need any recommendations of anything let me know and I can ask her. Sounds very exciting.
shop no idea about Easter sun but when we went to majorca one may it wasn't that warm so avoid the Balearics.

Cranagh I was planning to email you but unfortunately when I got here I heard that my aunt had a stroke so while I will be in Dublin on Sunday I will be visiting her in hospital etc so probably difficult to meet. When I am on laptop I will email.

We went to Fuertaventura in March last year and really enjoyed it. Windy though might not suit Marsha.

VivaVegas · 31/12/2015 10:22

Loving the holiday talk, one of my fave subjects!
We ski so for have a week away in the Alps booked for Feb half term. We have a main European Summer holiday booked for end of July. Hoping to get away in October half term but not sure where to as want some warmth not not long haul. Luckily it appears to be earlier this year so might give more options.
As people have already said Easter is s big hit and mix for Europe and its the end of March so quite early. Cyprus might be worth a look we have been in October and November and weather was great so might be ok for early season.
At work today, deserted office, not much going on at all Smile

Cranagh · 31/12/2015 10:32

Really sorry about your aunt, Liberty, I hope she will recover well.

shopafrolic · 31/12/2015 10:37

Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Blingy - awesome for kids and adults too x
Lib so sorry to hear about your Aunt - hope she makes a good recovery
