Fur or feathers, leather or lace, suede or velvet, come & tell us what you're wearing as the festive season comes our way. What's on your Christmas wishlist and what are you saving for the sales?

From designer to downtown, all are very welcome for chats about fashion, frolics and whatever else tickles your fancy.

Morning, Zurich today then a break. It's actually quite peaceful at this time of the morning.

That is interesting Shop the jeans one is funny.

Kitty oh no on APC shirt.

Have been wearing the acne skinnies a lot already, so I think they're good. I like how thick the denim is and they are good rise / skinny ankle shape. The MiH indigo ones are fab but I realised like Linus and Viva they're straight legged at the bottom rather than skinnies. Some shoes don't work as well.

VivaVegas · 12/11/2015 07:41

Safe travels Marsha, yes I'm struggling with boots with my MIHs due to the cut of the leg, definitely better with shoes, I've worn them out with heels but thinking about it they might be good with trainers.
I have a Zatchel saddle bag Shop a metallic cobalt blue which is very bright. It's too small for all the stuff I take to work daily but good if you don't need to take out as much for a few hours.
Not much S & B news, bought some lovely new PJs in Gap this week along with a black long cardigan but they are more comfort than fashion! Don't really need anything that I can think of but pondering some new black coated skinnies. Stokey is it you that just got some New Look ones, are they OK?
Enjoy your Thursday's!

VivaVegas · 12/11/2015 07:42

While I'm here a quick NY question, have also posted on long haul.
Have been myself on a girlie trip but thinking of going next autumn half term with DH and DC. Any recommendations on where to stay welcome.

AmberNectarine · 12/11/2015 08:05

Morning all

Last day of my working week - thank god because it's been a shocker - working till 11pm last night. Hoping next week will be quieter as I have a few projects that urgently need attention!

OOTD is Ines for Uniqlo navy boyfriend shirt (half tuck, natch), black tuxedo trousers, navy leopard print Jimmy Choo slipper flats, black Calvin Klein cashmere coat and navy disco. Very black and navy!

libertydoddle · 12/11/2015 09:19

I can't believe you are off again Marsha. So much travelling with your job!

I have never been to NYC viva so can't help.

amber I really miss black when you describe your work outfits. Sounds perfect.

My OOTH is the forest green Cos dress with the R&B boots. Am wearing this to death!

shopafrolic · 12/11/2015 09:27

Morning all - Viva I am no help on NYC but Blingy will know (when she reappears).
OOTD GAP dark blue resolution skinnies, Lib's grey Theory cashmere sweater, new GAP jacket and black IM Crisis. Very pleased I kept the jacket as the shoulders are slouching down nicely now and it is super warm.
Kitchen work starts next week - so I am frantically trying to clear out things I never use.
Marsha is your bathroom underway?

libertydoddle · 12/11/2015 09:59

Our swaps are really coming into their own in winter shop!. I'm wearing the Chloe peacoat!

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 12/11/2015 12:58

Dry I like that look too and that blazer looks great, 100% merino wool too.

I spotted this dupe in M&S today - looks pretty good (and on offer too).

Shop I like that coat.

Not sure about the jeans comment in that article, I think jeans have become part of the mainstream now and are no longer something people chuck on when they can't be bothered.

Speaking of reads, I have just read Deluxe which was super interesting. In summary, big conglomerates have tried (successfully) to make luxury brands into massively profitable businesses, at the expense of the product itself.

Stokey · 12/11/2015 16:58

I have never been to NYC either - seems like a MU is screaming out for us all!

NL coated skinnies aren't bad Viva, have worn twice & I like the shape & no bagging at the knees. Wonder if I should have sized up though as the zip keeps slipping down? Or need to get back in to shredding & lose the couple of kg I've added to my hips since the summer. Doesn't matter too much as I will always wear with bum covering tops & they are only £23 IIRC.

Thanks for the TK Maxx parka tip Lib, will try & check out next week. Although it's so warm I'm struggling to get into proper coats, crazy november weather.

dds have just covered the dining room in play doh

OP posts:
QueenCardi · 12/11/2015 17:13

stokey play doh comes a close second to glitter as being the work of the devil. I do love the stuff and it keeps all 3 amused for hours but I hate that bits get on the floor, embedded in socks and walked around the house!
kitty shame about the apc blouse but on the bright side now money for something else
amber love black and navy. It's my go to evening outfit so not sure I'll do it for work.

Went to primark today for Christmas jumpers for dc and tat for stocking fillers. Big dd is all into jewellery/hair stuff/make up so easy to buy for. Struggling with the other 2 though. Lots of star wars clothing though ( thought of you one) for kids and adults if that helps anyone. Tried to get Dh a tee to wear under jumpers only but none in his size.

LinusLovesBretons · 12/11/2015 17:55

Evening!

I have stayed in different hotels in NY on different budgets but if you want to stay very central I really rate the Novotel Times Square.

It's just off Times Square so very central but we had a very quiet room on the 25th floor. Walking distance from Broadway, Rockafeller Center, 5th Avenue, etc.

The New York Palace Hotel was great as well and the Mandarin Oriental was amazing but we did hold out unti the last minute to get a good deal.

MarshaBrady · 12/11/2015 18:07

Viva we stayed at the Hudson Hotel on a friend's recommendation, absolutely loved the space. Although we could have booked a bigger room.

Shop we had the biggest pile of bathroom goods delivered yesterday, dh worked from home, much bigger than I thought it would be, and we still haven't had the bath delivered. When does your kitchen arrive? Monday too I think.

Lib it's all for one project and I'm on the second last visit so it will probably stop for a while, then just Copenhagen and I'm still keen on Hong Kong for the business class (I know, I know, easily pleased) but nothing until next year probably.

About to fly back now, am hungry!

MarshaBrady · 12/11/2015 18:09

Oh and we threw out so much stuff when we had the kitchen done, bags of stuff, it was quite good.

shopafrolic · 12/11/2015 18:47

Marsha quite cathartic isn't it :) Our kitchen was delivered a week or so ago and is stored on pallets. I have to stop myself taking a peek!
Hopefully work starts to remove the existing one on Monday. Chased builder today. There is a lovely young family buying our old kitchen who are thrilled to have it which makes me smile. They get a kitchen new to them, I get a posher microwave than DH wanted Grin

MarshaBrady · 12/11/2015 20:12

That's fantastic! Ours just got thrown away but it wasn't good and get destroyed it when knocking it out. Can't wait til it's done.

Landed and sneakily had an extra 3/4 half a g&t, excited they had slimline feel quite tipsy

MarshaBrady · 12/11/2015 20:12

Got

Topazandpearl · 12/11/2015 21:26

Viva we stayed at the Hotel Giraffe which I would highly recommend. We found it through tripadviser. The location and rooms were great and staff were friendly.

safetyzone · 12/11/2015 21:41

Hi everyone, can I delurk? I posted a few times a few threads ago but life got in the way...

Went to US on business a month ago and decided to order a few bits off J Crew (delivered to US office). Can't buy petite stuff in the stores!

this in black

this

And a dotty Tippi which seems to have disappeared from the website.

Following lots of recs for TK Maxx I decided to have a look at the one near work and lo and behold there's a Herve Leger dress in my size! Like this one but in fuschia.

I don't think I'm going to buy a coat because I have several that are still in good nick that I bought before I had babies. Should last me a good while.

Bernice thanks for the book rec, it looks interesting. Would it help kill my urge to overspend on bags? Grin

Thank you for sharing your fashion thoughts, it gives me lots of inspiration!

QueenCardi · 12/11/2015 21:43

John Lewis now do all saints online and they seem to have 20% off

Drywhitethanks · 12/11/2015 22:29

Bernice M and S blazer just sold out in my size Sad.......looks nice

Drywhitethanks · 12/11/2015 22:34

these arrived today. Absolutely gorgeous, fit like a glove. Very very me. Thanks Shop Star

Drywhitethanks · 12/11/2015 22:45

They're identical colour as a Mango shell top I bought last year. Will look good with black cigarette trousers, also work really well with my leather skirt.

It's very quiet on here.

Ok, operation "make me gorgeous" less haggard for the week end is well under way. Nails done this evening. Legs have a summer "glow" Wink outfit chosen.

VivaVegas · 12/11/2015 22:47

Thanks all for your NY tips, going to have a proper look at the weekend.
Queen did you ever get your long sleeved going out navy top? Biden have 25% off tops and this navy top looks nice.

VivaVegas · 12/11/2015 22:47

Biden, that would be Boden!

QueenCardi · 13/11/2015 10:21

vegas i love that but I bought a similar one from esprit a couple of months ago which will fill the going out hole.

I see the what are you wearing on Christmas day thread has already started. Anyone thought about it yet?
