I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

It's funny you should say that niminy. I didn't used to like fruity scents or fruity florals but Sarah McCartney adds the entire fruit bowl sometimes and I've accidentally fallen in love with many of them before I could help myself. I love What Katie did on Friday Night (now called Fruits of the Tree of Knowledge) and it smells like cherry jam! I used to loathe peach but ended up falling for Doe in The Snow.

niminypiminy · 06/02/2016 16:38

Yes, I think Sarah McCartney's signature is fruit. Some of them I like. I'm very fond of Sunshine and Pancakes and may even buy it, and there are a couple of others that I like. But I like fragrances to have a bit of heft and complexity and, for me, fruit is just too simple, insipid almost. I have a sample called Peche et Vert that Ronni (from the late lamented Scent and Sensibility) put in with some others, and it's, well, just too peach-y. Fig is ok.

Like Frugal, I tend to gravitate to resiny, leathery, woody orientals. I think that's my other Sarah McCartney issue - those things really aren't her style.

MissBattleaxe · 06/02/2016 16:42

I think some 4160s definitely have heft and complexity. Shazam, Midnight in the Palace Garden and Evil Max are massive. I also loved Goddess of Love and Perfume, which was a complex multi layered chypre. I have to admit though, that I don't really like the Sexiest Scent on The Planet Ever (IMHO). I just can't get to grips with it all.

MissBattleaxe · 06/02/2016 16:44

Oh and I miss Ronni! I haven't been able to top up my Tauer samples since she closed down. Even Les Senteurs has a two week wait for Sotto La Luna Tuberose, although they have the gardenia ( which I didn't like)

niminypiminy · 06/02/2016 16:46

Evil Max I have, and like (even though it's a cherry chypre - how consistent is that?), and Shazam has been on my 'want to try' list for a while. Maybe I'll have to eat my words!

You know you can get Tauer samples direct from his web site? I keep meaning to lash out on a discovery set - with Sotto La Luna Tuberose, naturellement.

MissBattleaxe · 06/02/2016 17:05

I know, but he doesn't ship to the UK now? Postal regs have changed. I have just ordered a sample of Lonesome Rider which can get to the UK, but that's all I can get.

Tauerville only ships 30ml bottles to the UK, but I don't want to buy blind. I just checked the Tauer site and they do not ship to the UK.

niminypiminy · 06/02/2016 17:07

Oh, that's pants! I hadn't seen that because I hadn't got as far as actually ordering Sad

FrustratedFrugal · 06/02/2016 18:10

Really liking Shalimar Mexique. There is a loud and clear lemony note that cuts through the custardy sweetness. I keep sniffing my wrist, this perfume is nuanced and comforting and stimulating at the same time. I'll move the bottle to my dresser! too bad it's so ugly

Forgot that I have a candle from Malle, Cafe Society. It has a good dose of Shalimar.

MrsCocoa · 06/02/2016 23:35

Thanks for mentioning Choc Mrs S - I like it too.

bigbuttons · 07/02/2016 16:58

Oh God, I really should have carried in resisting the temptation to click on this thread.

For weeks I have stayed away. For months I have stayed away from fragrantica.
Now with one quick read I desperately want to try Salome.
Curses to you!

YetAnotherNC · 07/02/2016 20:02

Salome arrives tomorrow, in all her full bottle raunchy comforting loveliness! Grin

YetAnotherNC · 08/02/2016 16:58

SOTD Etat Libre D'Orange Rien Intense. It's definitely intense! I think I like it, but I can actually taste it in the back of my throat, so may go off it when it gets to tea time.... Very incense-y, reminds me of the inside of a incense storage box, but it's also got a zesty fresh note to begin with.

bigbuttons · 08/02/2016 17:55

How is the Salome YetAnother?
How skanky do you find it?

YetAnotherNC · 08/02/2016 18:30

Salome IS skanky, but my nose has adjusted, and now I just find it interesting and deep. I found it a bit of a shock at first as I usually go for incense-y, cedar-y, pine-y fragrances, so florals jasmine and animatics was a big punch to the senses. But in a good way. I think I would dare to wear it in very small quantities during the day, but I might be a bit self concious, but I would definitely wear this at night. It's beautiful in a vintage, unwashed but perfumed film star way. Totally love it, but it could divide your friends and acquaintances!

YetAnotherNC · 08/02/2016 18:32

DCs gave Rien Intense the thumbs up, they said it smelt "posh". !!! Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 08/02/2016 18:55

Salome sounds intriguing, I'd probably like the skanky part. Need to wear my fave pee-in-the-pants perfume, Bal à Versailles more often. Wore oudh to work today but stayed in my room Grin

I dabbed on some Pikake from my Hawaiian rollerball. Lush lei flowers to offset darkness and drizzle.

bigbuttons · 08/02/2016 19:07

Well YetAnother if it all gets too skanky for you I'm happy to buy some of it from you to relieve the burdenWink

cressetmama · 08/02/2016 20:41

You lot are getting dirtier and skankier with every passing day. I blame the weather! I am hovering over a Salome sample as I cannot bear the ignorance.

YetAnotherNC · 08/02/2016 20:54

cresset pm me if you'd like a sample.... Also buttons....

CointreauVersial · 08/02/2016 21:05

I bought a small bottle of this on eBay the other day, for less than the price of a pint. Gorgeous! I wasn't after a barnyard oud, just something wearable. Can't go wrong, really.

bigbuttons · 08/02/2016 22:16

Bless you! Have pm'dSmile

bigbuttons · 08/02/2016 22:19

cointreau I stockpile al rehab chocomusk, it's to die for and never fails to get compliments.

MrsCocoa · 09/02/2016 18:21

Sorry to come back to the question of little spray bottles for decanting, but any recommendations? Am assuming I need glass to avoid contaminating juice with plastic? But do I also need a metal spray mechanism, etc? (I have a number of things in dab bottles that I'm trying to move over into spray format (15ml max)).

CointreauVersial · 09/02/2016 22:41

I bought some nice PET bottles in Muji (PET is a very stable, hard, transparent plastic) which have worked well; I'm also toying with the idea of buying some on eBay.

LovelyFriend · 10/02/2016 00:44

After living with my 4160 Crimes of Passion samples for a month or so now I am completely in love with Maxed Out and Midnight Gardens.
Silk and roses is my runner up.
