I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

L"Ile Au Thè was bid disappointment for me, was long forward to the green tea and osmanthus, and it was a big nothing.

Just boring, non descript sort of thing, inoffensive, pretty but bland.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/01/2016 19:31

Oh! I won't bother then! (Your name is the same as my daughter's, nearly, by the way.)

OttiliaVonBCup · 31/01/2016 20:15

It was my grandmother's name.

Your mileage night vary though, give it a sniff, maybe I just had big expectations.

I went on the AG website, had completely forgotten about so many of them, Eau de Ciel is so pretty, a friend of mine wore it back in the 90s,and I had a big Ce Soir ou Jamais phase, a whole bottle I went through. Haven't smelled that in years. And Le Chevrefeuille.

Oh the memories.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2016 21:11

I quite like L'Isle au The, but then I'm a sucker for tea fragrances. I would offer to send you some, MrsS, but I have the tiniest sample - it was in one of the Perfume Society boxes. Another one was Vent de Folie - now that really was something and nothing. I'm struggling to recall what it smelled like.

Cresset - how kind - I shall PM you.

getoffthattabletnow · 31/01/2016 22:23

My current AG favourites are Songes - a glorious tropical floral beautiful in cold weather and Mandragore.
I'm a sucker for Star Anise in perfumes.
Wearing Ormonde Jayne's Tai'f.I can barely smell it on my skin but DD1 says the whole room smells of my perfume - curious.
Tai'f is a warm Amber Rose that's curiously both subtle and seductive and with major silage.I like it but these earthy Roses are not really me.The earthiest I go is Montale's Roses Musk.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2016 22:28

I tried AG Sables once. Ghastly! Toooo much immortelle.

getoffthattabletnow · 01/02/2016 16:32

Jardin Mystique by Friedemonin today.Whoever described this range as like a series of watercolours is absolutely right. This a a green grassy floral with Jasmine,Lily of the valley And Patchouli.Truly impressionistic in feel and light and delicate on skin. Not sure about the longevity yet.

YetAnotherNC · 01/02/2016 17:47

Cresset, would you sell a sample? I'd love to try Encre noir; I've also been ogling it on Fragrantica.

CointreauVersial · 01/02/2016 17:51

Trying another Shay & Blue today; this time Atropa Belladonna. From the name I was expecting something dangerous, shady and hypnotic, but it was a soft cassis and patchouli creation. I'm a bit so-so about berry/currant fragrances, as I often find them too sugary and the fruit often seems to fight with other notes (I really don't like Mure et Musc for that reason), but this just about stayed on the right side of sweet, and I shall happily wear it again. Apparently, there's jasmine in their somewhere, but I didn't spot it.

MrsCocoa · 01/02/2016 18:31

The S&B that has caught my attention is Suffolk Lavender. Has made me rethink lavender - set here with the darker woody feel of a modern smoky incense. Inexplicably M&S deleted it from their S&B range - I couldn't visit their beauty hall without trying. Was building up to a FB...

cressetmama · 01/02/2016 19:56

YetAnotherNC, I will happily send you a sample, free, gratis, and nothing to pay. PM your name and address and as soon as I have scored another sample bottle (I got one from Boots for you today CV so it will be in the post very soon) I will do another. I have most of 100ml languishing unloved in a dusty but cool dark bathroom.

YetAnother, be warned that this is the Femme version, and is not nearly as lovely as the Homme, which is a swoon. Pay the favour forward... infect the world with the loveliness of shared delight in scent; send someone a sample.

FrustratedFrugal · 01/02/2016 21:06

I'm wearing Nuxe body moisturizer mostly for its perfume - so uplifting...

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/02/2016 22:38

I have the men's version of Encre Noir - bought for DH who didn't like it, so I wear it now. Win-win, no?

Agree with CV re Sables. Vile. Just vile.

Ottilia - it was my great grandmother's sister's name.

SOTD is Musc Nomade again. I do love it. May have a blast of Encre Noir tomorrow.

YetAnotherNC · 02/02/2016 09:46

There's a few fragrances I'd love to buy - don't want a full bottle, but want more than a 3ml sample. Two I want to buy but don't think I'd use a FB are Heeley's Cardinal and Papillon Salome. Anyone know anywhere where people go halves/split perfumes?

YetAnotherNC · 02/02/2016 09:46

SOTD L'Air du Desert Marocain. Yum.

MissBattleaxe · 02/02/2016 10:25

getoffthattable- it was me who described them as like watercolours. I'm so glad you like it. I don't know why they've ended up in TK Maxx. They were an exclusive to Harvey Nichols originally and quite expensive.

MissBattleaxe · 02/02/2016 10:27

You can get samples of Salome from the Papillon website. I have one but only one. If I had two I would send it to you. It's filthy! I love it. Liz is a genius. She is bringing out White Moth later this year but its still macerating at the moment.

YetAnotherNC · 02/02/2016 10:41

Hi MissB I have got a sample of Salome from Papillon, I agree, totally wowzer and amazing. I just can't imagine wearing it enough to justify a FB, but I've already gone through my sample. So maybe I just bite the bullet and buy it. Trouble is I already succumbed to A FB of Anubis Blush so I feel a bit very guilty for such extravagance!

MissBattleaxe · 02/02/2016 10:46

I am almost afraid to wear Salome in case it turns everyone on! It's so sexy. It smells like sex and knickers.

YetAnotherNC · 02/02/2016 10:51

Yes MissB Exactly! Doesn't seem suitable for dropping kids off at school or doing the supermarket shop...! Bit scary but I find it totally addictive, and weirdly comforting.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/02/2016 16:41

SOTD Encre Noir. The cat likes it. He is sitting on my shoulders and licking my neck, making little growly noises. Serge Lutens Eau Froide has this effect on him too. Confused

Where can I get some Salome to try?

YetAnotherNC · 02/02/2016 17:02

MrsS if I cave and buy myself a bottle of Salome, I will send you a sample. But I will not use this as an excuse to buy a bottle

CointreauVersial · 02/02/2016 17:16

Ohhh, I'm tempted by Salome too. I'm adding it to my list. I might dig out one of the other Papillons for tomorrow.

I'm on a DH-imposed spending ban at the moment, scouting the loft for things to sell on eBay to boost my fragrance fund. And making a long list!

SOTD is Shay & Blue Blood Oranges. The reason I bought the somewhat hit-and-miss miniatures set. I really do adore this one - the orange stays with you all day, starting off juicy, and melting into a lovely vanilla woodiness as the day wears on. I probably should have bought a FB instead of the set, but hey ho; will be listing the scrubbers on eBay shortly!!

FrustratedFrugal · 02/02/2016 17:31

Loving your cat MrsS!

Wore oudh to work, it stays close to skin after the first potent blast, I feel it's the most perfect scent ever: woody, resiny and smoky - transcendent, somehow. So glad I bought the bottle.

Just a hint left on my skin. Thinking about layering with Pear+Olive.

MrsCocoa · 02/02/2016 20:55

Encre Noir fans - is the EDT worth a try or just the EDP? (MrsS - does you cat have a preference?).
