I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

In TK maxi?
Blimey.

I'm guarding my vintage perfume with my body.

MissBattleaxe · 29/01/2016 12:20

Freidemodin is a new brand, started by Elisabeth Modin and Nina Freide in 2014. So far they are only four scents in the collection. The Nose for the range is Francois Robert. They remind me of watercolours. You can get them in Harvey Nicholls. I recommend that TK Maxx set! It used to be £60.

OttiliaVonBCup · 29/01/2016 12:49

I got the wrong end of TK Maxx and FdB.

I'm really enjoying it today. It's the perfect cold weather for wearing it.

7Days · 29/01/2016 16:46

Way back upthread - thanks wilting for your response. I might chance it!

I am always intrigued by Carillon, but it makes me feel ill. Every few months I think I should try it, because the greenness attracts me but I can't settle to it at all.

getoffthattabletnow · 29/01/2016 17:31

I've received 4 Annick Goutal perfume decants this morning in a Swop.Love them all as they are so sweet and innocent and suitable for even my 11 year old DD.Particularly love the spring Soliflores - la Violette and Chevrefeuille. But I'm also enjoying my big decants of Quel Amour and Petite Cherie.I've been sent the edt.Dies anyone know whether the EDP has better longevity?
Annick Goutal perfumes were my favourite niche perfumes over 20 years ago and are still really natural smelling, but somewhat ephemeral .

MissBattleaxe · 29/01/2016 18:58

I agree about Annick Goutal. I have Matin D'Orage and its lovely. All sort of floaty!

niminypiminy · 29/01/2016 20:18

Oh yuck! Someone gave me a bottle of Body Shop White Musk as a jokey birthday present, and DS1 in a rage sprayed it all over me! It's revolting!

MissBattleaxe · 29/01/2016 20:19

I love white musk! It's a classic! Only in the oil form though.

niminypiminy · 29/01/2016 20:25

I know it's a classic, but sprayed all over my clothes it reeks like Zoflora.

7Days · 30/01/2016 00:02

Well I've bit the bullet and ordered from Surrender to Chance. Can't wait!

I have Ninfeo Mio, it's my lengthening days scent, hint of spring. But first timeI wore it - and you won't believe this - DH asked had I been cleaning! He smelt pine disinfectant!

It's an LTB situation,surely?

FrustratedFrugal · 30/01/2016 08:26

Ninfeo Mio is fantastic!

We tried to visit Ninfa Gardens last spring but got stuck in a godawful traffic jam. Basically, thousands of other people had had the same idea and you could only park about 10 km away. I was expecting green fig saplings and daffodils and green ponds but the only thing you could smell was exhaust gas and diesel fumes Grin

A bit under the weather today. Oudh is a powerful antidote!

niminypiminy · 30/01/2016 11:03

The post brought a lovely little box of samples from Heeley. I'm wearing Verveine d'Eugenie which is a light, herby scent, slightly outdoorsy, reminds me of Roger & Gallet soap. Very nice for a Saturday morning.

getoffthattabletnow · 30/01/2016 14:26

Love Heeley's Verveine with the Verbena and fruity Rhubarb. In fact I love all the Heeley's perfumes I've sampled, but Cardinal and Cuir de pleine I love from afar.

Wearing Acca Kappas Calycanthus today .Winter Jasmine with the Scent of the Calycanthus flower. Its a clean heady floral that lasts, on a cold sunny day.

7Days · 30/01/2016 20:22

exhaust gas and diesel fumes Bet some ubertrendy niche house is working on it right now. I picture them like the sharply hairstyled pouting crew in Zoolander.

SOTD mystery sample that went on a bit carbolic soapy, settled to pleasant and died away. Thought for a moment it was HdP 1740 (or is it 1728? cAn't remember) but didn't have the punch & longevity.

MrsCocoa · 30/01/2016 23:39

Love Ninfeo Mio too - despite having officially got over my fig thing. It's a high summer scent for me; and seems to captivate the man at the Post office - he always comments.

The only Heeley I've tried is Agarwoud, part of a set thrown up by the Nose diagnostic. I liked it...

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2016 14:12

I love Sel Marin, but haven't tried any other Heeleys. Niminy, where did you get the sample set from?

I'm working my way through a Shay & Blue miniatures set. I adore Blood Oranges, which was the main motivation for buying it, but the two others I've tried so far haven't been hugely successful. Yesterday's SOTD, Almond Cucumber, was far too much of the latter, a sort of synthetic, choking faux-cucumber, which took a long while to die down. And today I'm trying Sicilian Lime. Initial juicy lime accompanied by a rather unpleasant cheap curry powder pong......it's slowly settling down into spicy wood, but I'm not a fan so far. Two more to try, fingers crossed.

cressetmama · 31/01/2016 15:18

SoTD is MMM Lazy Sunday Morning. Sounds great in all the descriptions: fresh sheets, chypre, a bit cosy. Nice enough but no luuurve. Still a fair amount to use from my decant.

Why do perfume companies always want us to buy 30, 50 or 100ml of something? Seriously, there ain't much I want to have in the 100ml size! It's the only thing stopping me buying Eau Suave, which is the loveliest rose soliflore I have ever smelt... it only comes in 100ml.

niminypiminy · 31/01/2016 15:34

You can get samples direct from Heeley's own website. Today's new try is Chypre 21 which is gorgeous, fairly masculine and not at all sweet. The only Heeley perfume I've tried that I don't like is Cardinal which is an austere incense. But I like some of his other more out there scents including Esprit du Tigre, which is a riff on Tiger Balm. And I love L'Amandiere - Stylised Mediterranean springtime.

niminypiminy · 31/01/2016 15:36

I really wanted to like Almond Cucumber as I adore anything almondy, but the cucumber was overwhelming. It reminded me of the Boots cucumber cleanser I used as a teenager, but not in a good way.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2016 15:58

What do you fragranistas think of Lalique Encre Noir? I'm intrigued by the description and tempted to order a sample.....

OttiliaVonBCup · 31/01/2016 16:15

Encre noir is a beautiful vetiver.

Must the the men's one, the women's version is rubbish.

CointreauVersial · 31/01/2016 16:31

Yes, it was the Men's one I was looking at. I love vetiver.

OttiliaVonBCup · 31/01/2016 16:43

It's good, mineral-y, not too dense, very wearable.

cressetmama · 31/01/2016 18:01

It is gorgeous! Do not order the female version; if you want to smell it, tell me (by PM with address) and I'll send you some as I have an FB gathering dust in a bathroom cupboard. A full size bottle, unloved. Had sad is that bottle?

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/01/2016 19:13

Oh I want to try l'Ile au The, CV.

SOTD is Lipstick Rose by Frederic Malle, which I don't particularly like, but most other people seem to. Using up a sample from Les Senteurs.

I had a squirt of Fat Electrician the other day, and liked it, but not sure if I liked the name more. Fortnum's has an excellent, lovely and quiet perfume department, away from the hordes of tourists on the ground floor who are buying up tea and chocolates.
