I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

My Surrender to Chance package arrived this morning so I cracked out the Winter Wonderland samples.

SotD is Smell Bent Winter Vixen. It's strange. Chocolate and cinnamon with a hint of incense stick. I'm not sure I will be wearing it again!

MrsCocoa · 15/12/2015 00:11

SotD was L'Occitane's Ambre (sadly discontinued). A warming sweetish amber - perfect for feeling Christmassy and gentle enough to be suitable for day/office wear (and a good pick for Xmas tree selection Cresset?).

CointreauVersial · 15/12/2015 00:35

Sounds interesting, schmalex!

SOTD here was chosen for no other reason than it was the first bottle I came across with a spray dispenser - I was running very late this morning, and had about three seconds to apply and run - it was Nuxe Le Parfum Prodigieuse. It smells just like the oil, and I love it.

getoffthattabletnow · 15/12/2015 10:08

Nahema by Guerlain today - a big Floral Rose.Forgot its quite heavy initially and sprayed myself several times. The school bus driver must have been suffocated by me at 7.45am - pleasantly I hope.
Regarding a possible split Toys and Schmalex, the Lipstick Rose is £75 for 3 vials. There's postage on top as well. The vials can be bought individually for £30 plus around £4.00 for postage. What do you think?Worth going ahead ?

SecondSunrise · 15/12/2015 14:20

Schmalex keep the Winter Wonderland feedback coming - I was scoping out the sample set after you mentioned it. Winter Vixen was one of the ones I was interested in.

I managed to bag a mini bottle of L'Ambre de Merveilles by Hermes from America on ebay; I'm hoping it arrives before the New Year. I've also bought a friend a nice tin of L'Artisan perfume samples for Christmas. i was hoping I could have a sniff before I handed it over but it's all sealed up disappointingly.

SOTD = Chergui by Serge Lutens. I like this but don't love it enough to buy more than the sample. It has a soapiness to the spicy tobacco/honey scent.

cressetmama · 15/12/2015 14:38

Chergui is a great choice for grey wet weather. It's so warming.

SOTD is Oil Fiction. I like it, but can hardly smell it even 30 minutes after a decent spray. I wonder if it's me being anosmic to one of the ingredients because all the other Juliette fragrances last well.

CointreauVersial · 15/12/2015 17:37

SecondSunrise - I like L'Ambre des Merveilles, but I get a peculiar plastic note which puts me off it slightly. Having said that, it's ages since I wore it, so I might give it another go. It's perfect in this weather.

I have the L'Artisan tin too - why not treat yourself? There are no duff ones in it.

SOTD is Diptyque (grr, I have to look up how to spell that word every time!) Vetyverio. Vetiver is one of my absolute favourite notes, and this one has a warm heart.

FrustratedFrugal · 15/12/2015 18:00

Another day with vintage Mitsouko extrait. Loving it - enough presence but not in your face.

FrustratedFrugal · 15/12/2015 20:36

Sprayed some Pear + Olive from Slumberhouse on my wrists. This is such a juicy, yummy pear, very different from the carefully constructed classic, somehow holistic smelling...

MrsCocoa · 15/12/2015 22:48

Started the day with Feuilles de Tabac - a quite masculine green scent that faded away quite quickly. This evening I fancied wearing something with heft - so reached for the Empreinte. Starts off with a blast of aldehydes so bright they clear your sinuses (I don't like this phase!) but then you get rose, and then mellow wood, which hovers somewhere between an old school classic and a contemporary rose oud for hours.

Overall I really like this - a grown-up fragrance.

CointreauVersial · 15/12/2015 23:39

Pear & Olive sounds lovely!

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 16/12/2015 00:50

I would be up for a three way split of Lipstick Rose, definitely. However, would have to be in the new year. Truly skint this month! I will keep an eye on deals..

Rushed off my feet with work atm, so no particilar thought gone into sotd: Have been alternating with two of my comfort scents -Clinique Simply and The Body Shop's sadly discontinued Tobacco Flower.

cressetmama · 16/12/2015 09:35

MrsCocoa, your description makes me want to smell the Empreinte; I've never come across it but rose followed by wood sounds dreamy.

I am testing one of Toys' comfort scents, Tobacco Flower, this morning but I think it needs five minutes to get settled.

MuttonWasAGoose · 16/12/2015 13:38

I have an unopened bottle of Black Opium EDT that I will never use. Would anyone like to swap?

MissBattleaxe · 16/12/2015 16:43

My friend loves black opium. What kind of swap would you have in mind?

FrustratedFrugal · 16/12/2015 17:05

Well done stting up a swap!

SOTD Pear+Olive. I've stayed home all day, wrapped in a cashmere poncho, grading term papers, preparing a talk and reading a stimulating book. For me, perfumes are at their best on days like this - slowly unfurling, accompanying whatever I am doing, not bothering anyone else.

MuttonWasAGoose · 16/12/2015 18:47

missbattleaxe I don't know, really. Something I've not already got, obviously. Grin It's not about the monetary value really.... If I sell it the paypal will deposit into the current account and then go to pay bills. (Perhaps I should pay bills, but I was given a box of something pretty at a time when I can't afford frivolity.)

SecondSunrise · 17/12/2015 10:04

Sounds perfect Frugal. I always save more controversial or complicated samples for days I'm working at home so I can sniff to my heart's content.

Today is nothing controversial though - Serge Lutens Nuit de Cellophane. I love this (although it's slated on Fragrantica as being boring) and it was the final sprays of my miniature sample. Will have to wait for a nice little decant of it.

Cointreau I've got some Vetiver orientated samples I could send you if you're interested? It's my nemesis..
I've got Etat Libre D'Orange Fat Electrician (best name ever)- vetiver, marron glace, resins.
And Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal - vetiver with a slight fruity vibe to it.

cressetmama · 17/12/2015 11:03

Fat Electrician is one of the best from ELdO (IMHO), but I was ruined for vetiver by my heart is set on Vetiver Extraordinaire. One day I'll get around to a decant, or maybe one of the travel size, if they can be bought separately.

SOTD is Miller Harris Petitgrain and Terre d'Iris, layered for a bit more lasting power. Nicked back from DS, who snaffled the sample set!

MissBattleaxe · 17/12/2015 12:11

Mutton- you might be better off listing it on eBay. I would feel awful if I sent you something you didn't love.

MissBattleaxe · 17/12/2015 12:13

cresset- I love both of those Miller Harris scents. Terre D'Iris doesn't get enough love if you ask me.

I have the Prada Infusions Discovery Box from the Perfume Soc and they are all glorious with no weak links. I am wearing Infusion de Prada Fleur D'Oranger today. Swoon!

CheeseEloise1 · 17/12/2015 13:02

Really liking this thread. For many years I wore Nahema by Guerlain which they stopped doing. I loved everything about it. Does anyone know anything that may resemble it?

getoffthattabletnow · 17/12/2015 14:10

Nahema is still available CheeseEloise.I wear the Eau de Parfum. The Parfum is being discontinued at the end of the year though. It's available online in many stores like House of Fraser and John lewis and perfume stores.
Wild Bluebell today by Jo Malone.I've felt really ill with a chest infection/asthma and can't find the Lilas Mauve I normally wear when I'm feeling sick. This was the closest I could get to it.

cressetmama · 17/12/2015 15:27

MissB -- and they are lasting so well for citrus scents, still a good sniff after five hours. I am fairly sure we shall have to share this set!

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 17/12/2015 15:44

Hung over today and made the mistake of picking a sample at pretty much randomly. It was Rose de Kandahar. Usually quite nice, albeit strong - today it makes me feel like I'm suffocating in a fog of the stink of Satan's own flower garden. I think I just saw "Rose" and completely disregarded "Tauer". Big mistake. Hope it starts to fade a bit before I have to get on the bus in 15.
