I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

I get a faecal note as well with En Passant.I'm not sure whether it's by association as the baby sacs I used were Lilac scented. But I love all other Lilac perfumes I've ever sampled.
Eau De Campagne today.I love the Tomato leaf in this and the relentless bitter greens.

schmalex · 08/12/2015 11:46

SOTD is Tauer Une Rose Vermeille. I put it on, then dropped the sample on my bathroom floor, where it smashed and went everywhere. Shock

I like it. Very sweet to start off, with lots of raspberries. I can't decide whether I prefer this or Lipstick Rose. Might need another sample!

On the bright side, my bathroom smells lovely now.

cressetmama · 08/12/2015 12:34

It has gone now, and is drying down rather pleasantly!

Sympathies, Schmalex. Une Rose Vermeille is lovely but it seems a shame to waste it on the bathroom floor!

FrustratedFrugal · 08/12/2015 18:33

I get a strong fecal whiff from Bulgari's Mon Jasmin Noir. I think we all smell a bit differently. When I did blind raw material sniffings with my perfumista friends, some of us smelled nada, others perceived a neutral/pleasant smell and yet others gagged. I'm anosmic to oak and some musks.

SOTD Femme by Rochas.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 08/12/2015 20:13

Funny, to me En Passant is really not pooey at all. Musks Koublai Khan - Now that is pooey.

Sotd: Tuesdays What I did on Holiday. Pepperminty. Nice enough. Strange.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 08/12/2015 20:17

My mini bottle of vintage first batch Byzance fell in the toilet a year ago. I am not ashamed to say I lifted it back out and managed to rescue a few mils.

MrsCocoa · 08/12/2015 20:41

SotD: Tea for Two (another thank you to TK Maxx). Smokey Lapsang souchong and honey - relatively simple and comforting.

Toys: I blind smelt that 4160 Tuesdays scent and got coconut ice above all else.

cressetmama · 09/12/2015 09:40

I fancy the sound of Tea for Two but need a sample spray to try out as I love Lapsang to drink but am much less keen on honey.

What I did on Holiday baffled me! I got fried eggs and peppermint rock, which strike me as not perfume scents. It's akin to those Heston Blumenthal recipes that fit into the "wrong" course on a menu.

Still pondering SoTD but feeling a bit bashed by DH announcing his intention of throwing out the cashmere dressing gown I bought him for a significant birthday. He has never worn it, true, but it is far too nice to just send to a charity shop where they will ask £10 for it. Anybody have any ideas, or shall I give to to my BiL (who loved it, but lives in Dubai)?

LovelyFriend · 09/12/2015 10:34

SOTD Clinique Aromatics in White (as I was in Boots first thing).

Very light and lacking all the interesting bits of Aromatics Elixar. I expect if will leave me in another hour or so. Won't try again.

I had a sniff of the Aromatics in Black too - got the feelings the added a lots of heavy sweetness without any depth or interest to that. I didn't even want to try it.

Shame as I love Aromatics Elixar.

cressetmama · 09/12/2015 19:47

Oh dear ladies, or do I mean, oh dear, perfumistas... Where are all today's posts? Do we all have flu? Are we doing our Christmas shopping? Have we finished?

SoTD was Artemisia by Penhaligon, another from Toys' goodie bag. I thought it was quite bland to begin with, and not much wormwood, but come evening, I have warmed to it. It takes a long slow burn apparently. It's much more interesting as it finishes than at the start but I am struggling to define what I like about it.

FrustratedFrugal · 09/12/2015 20:27

No perfume today. A horrible rainstorm throughout the day, and I have been very focused on work. I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet.

getoffthattabletnow · 09/12/2015 21:56

Ivoire by Balmain today - because it was only £9.99 at Tk Maxx and I've been wanting to try it for a while. Its a rich comforting creamy Vanilla Dove-like scent and totally wearable.

CointreauVersial · 09/12/2015 22:08

Lovelyfriend - I adore Aromatics in White, and can take or leave the original Elixir! I find it lasts well on me. Not tried the Black.

I'm giving Dzing another go. The base notes are gorgeous; it's just the initial leather and rubber blast that puts me off a little.

cressetmama · 10/12/2015 10:02

Just grabbed Cedrat Enlivant sample to wear for walking dog, and it is the most wonderful blast of citrus and cedar. Aftelier Cologne is the company and I've never heard of them, but it's another big shouted thanks to Toys.

cressetmama · 10/12/2015 19:04

It was fantastic but didn't have much lasting power. Decided that I have had a surfeit of sampling and am enjoying a comfort moment of Eau d'Hiver. The slight marzipan note seems right.

getoffthattabletnow · 10/12/2015 19:11

Samsara Eau de Parfum today.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 10/12/2015 19:41

Sahara Noir today. The incense is beautiful, but even one spray straight on skin feels a bit suffocating. I think I will spray in the air and walk through the mist vintage stylee next time..

Cresset: Atelier Cologne does lits of lovely stuff, but like the name implies, the scents are a bit short lived. Better for summer.

Love Eau d'Hiver. Couldn't get it at first. Thought I was anosmic to it, but have come to appreciate the subtle heat of the scent.

FrustratedFrugal · 10/12/2015 19:56

Toys, I have that problem with many orientals. I love them, but I do not want to reek / cause asthma attacks, and dosing them properly can be a real problem.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 10/12/2015 20:00

Frugal: The Tom Ford orientals are all a bit like that for me. Very intense!

MrsCocoa · 10/12/2015 22:32

Toys: I love Sahara Noir: it's dry and savoury and shouts CHURCH at me. I like to think there's a bit more latitude with strong scents that aren't pressing the conventional flowers/sex buttons? But maybe that's just because I enjoy wearing them!

But on strong perfumes, I was collecting DS this week and another parent's sillage was so overwhelming, it was uncomfortable to stand next to the spot she had previously occupied. I can't remember what Poison smells like, but wondered if that was it?

cressetmama · 11/12/2015 10:32

Poison is dreadful stuff, and it lasts forever. GO back a few pages on this thread for an entertaining rant on the subject!

Comme des Garcons' original EDP today I think! It's true love and never bores me.

I just unearthed a nearly FB of Lalique's Encre Noir pour elle lurking in my bathroom cupboard which I bought at the start of my perfume journey and bought in error (I wanted the male Encre Noir which is a very dry hefty vetiver). This has quite a lot of rose on the top. It's interesting and I'm going to try it again, but if anyone will tell me where to acquire some scent vials, I could offer a fair number of samples or decants, if any of you expressed an interest.....

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 11/12/2015 12:15

E-Bay is best for vials and bottles. No other equipment needed. Spray straight in the bottle, unless using small very small vials (you might need a funnel with them).

cressetmama · 11/12/2015 12:44

Correction: it's gardenia rather than rose, and a big dose of it at that! It's not overpowering after an hour, but not my thing at all.

LovelyFriend · 11/12/2015 14:32

Cointreau Aromatics in White didn't last on me at all. It's fascinating how perfumes react so differently on different bodies.

That was my rant on Poison upthread Grin - I swear my nostrils were tainted the entire day!

SOTD - holy cow I didn't put anything on today (not feeling well). Luckily I have backups on my desk so it will be Atelier Cologne "Grand neroli"

TheRattleBag · 11/12/2015 16:25

Thanks to lurking on this thread I checked out the perfume selection in TK Maxx today and was thrilled to pick up Penhaligon's Artemesia. (I was less thrilled about the horrible welded plastic packaging which needed stabbing vigorously with scissors to get into!)

I have some Artemisia already, but in a non-spray bottle, which somehow just doesn't feel as satisfying to use. Dabbing it on just isn't the same as a generous squirt!

I was considering buying an atomiser to decant some into, but many of the ones I've seen you fill from a spray bottle. Can anyone recommend one that you can pour into?
