I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

I love angelique. I thought it didn't last at first but then I started noticing whiffs of it at the end of the day and realised my nose had probably just grown accustomed.

FrustratedFrugal · 05/12/2015 10:56

SoTD AA Teazzurra to offset the post-Christmas party headache.

CointreauVersial · 05/12/2015 11:43

The Naomi Goodsir from the other day reminded me that I had a sample of Or du Serail untested amongst my most recent Surrender to Chance haul. So that's SOTD. It's gorgeous so far - boozy Christmas fruit and spice, some coconut in there somewhere - it reminds me of Ambre Narguile.

I must say, I've tried three of Naomi's fragrances so far, and they're all excellent - I like the fact that they have decent sillage so you get little wafts of it throughout the day - they are somehow "rich", if you see what I mean, in a similar vein to Tom Ford and Tauer. I think tht's one of the problems I have with 4160 Tuesdays - they are the opposite; always seem a bit thin to me, like I want to douse myself in the whole bottle just to get a bit more punch.

cressetmama · 05/12/2015 12:48

SOTD is a sample from Toys' hoard goodie cupboard, so thank you again! Drole de Rose emerged first from the packet and the first whiff was pleasantly rosy, but it isn't lasting very well, like several of the Artisans I have tried before.

DS is showing interest in aftershave, so I let him sniff the Miller Harris citron sample box I scored in TK Maxx this week to see if anything hit the spot (he is coveting his dad's Eau Sauvage) and he seems to like the Petitgrain and Terre d'Iris.... which are naturally the two I liked. They were snaffled for his bathroom shelf PDQ!

getoffthattabletnow · 05/12/2015 14:06

He's got good taste Cressetmama. Those are my Miller Harris favourites too.
Sitting here with California Reverie on one arm - a glorious orange blossom,Jasmine and I think my absolute favourite. The other arm has Songes Eau de Parfum - rich yellow flowers with Frangipani blossoms and equally heavenly.I'm trying to combat this awful rain and wind blowing a hooley outside .Time to download a good book on my kindle - The Lost Kingdom! Really enjoyed the series and apparently the books are good tas well.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 05/12/2015 14:34

Sotd:Lady, Rose... Courtesy of cresset.

I keep wavering between really liking it and not. I think I'm generally not a Chypre girl.. Love the woodiness and peach, though!

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 05/12/2015 14:45

And there's a lot of punch in this. Not quite Tom Ford nuclear, but still..

cressetmama · 05/12/2015 17:19

Smile Toys! So true!

Storm Desmond is crashing around loudly outside, so it's rather nice to sit by the fire and write Christmas cards catching whiffs of Melt's Forest candle which is as much like sitting on a fir tree as humanly possible. And rather safer than being out among them.

cressetmama · 05/12/2015 17:20

Rather too much rather in that post...

schmalex · 06/12/2015 14:38

Hello folks, thanks for all your help on my other thread.
I've been looking at Surrender To Chance and I'm just wondering how long it takes to ship to the UK. Have any of you ordered from them?
They've got a gorgeous-sounding Winter Warmers set, which would be lovely to try over Christmas hols but I'm wondering if it would get here in time...

cressetmama · 06/12/2015 16:37

It would probably arrive in time. Shipping from the States tends to be about 10 days but at this time of year they will try to clear everything before the holidays

schmalex · 06/12/2015 17:27

Thanks cresset, I have surrendered!

cressetmama · 06/12/2015 21:12

Do come back and tell us how you got on!

schmalex · 07/12/2015 12:00

Well, I just received my first few samples from Les Senteurs this morning. I'm wearing Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose. It's gorgeous - roses and parma violets. I can't stop smelling myself.
I also have Tauer Noontide Petals and Une Rose Vermeille to try out.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 07/12/2015 13:19

Schmalex: Lipstick Rose is one of my favourites. Love it. Some people really dislike it. It's quite divisive.

MissBattleaxe · 07/12/2015 13:19

I adore Noontide Petals! Great choices.

CointreauVersial · 07/12/2015 13:37

I've never tried Lipstick Rose - I always thought it would be too sweet and powdery for me. I might have to give it a go...

SOTD is Rosie for Autograph Nuit Parfum, which was yesterday's treat from the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar. A slightly shrieking honeyed rose at the start, but it has settled down and become soft and woody. Not the worst thing I've tried, but not amazing.

MissBattleaxe · 07/12/2015 13:42

I bought a bottle of original Rosie for Autograph and I love it. It's a beautiful centifolia rose with pepper and white flowers. I think it's great. Haven't tried the "nuit" version though. I was nervous that they would just crank it all up and add caramel. Why fix what ain't broke?

SecondSunrise · 07/12/2015 14:54

Those who have ordered from Surrender To Chance - could you tell me if you have to pay any tax/customs on it? Does anyone have any suggestions for a coconut/tropical flower scent too? I love Crystal Noir but looking for something to cheer up the endless grey days.

SOTD Acqua di Parma "Mondorlo di Sicilia". Cosy almond ice cream tinged with oranges.

Schmalex please update how you get on with the rest of your haul!

schmalex · 07/12/2015 15:28

It is quite sweet and powdery, cointreau. But I like it!

FrustratedFrugal · 07/12/2015 17:05

I'm boring, another day with Mitsouko. I did not wear a suit jacket to work today but this classic has a hidden internal structure that feels like an invisible armour.

CointreauVersial · 07/12/2015 20:22

SecondSunrise - no, never paid any duty.

cressetmama · 08/12/2015 09:27

SecondSunrise, I've never been asked for duty on parcels from Perfumed Court either. They normally write samples on the customs declaration.

SoTD is FM's En Passant, courtesy of Toys' sample cupboard. And of dear, I wanted to love it because I am a perfume snob, but sadly, it has developed something of an, ahem, faecal note. I think it may be back to the washbasin for a scrub!

cressetmama · 08/12/2015 09:27

Oh dear!

phoenix1973 · 08/12/2015 09:40

I LOVE "Dior me, dior me not".
It wasn't around for long (late 90's early 2000's)
