I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Eau Parfumee au The Verte is my go to for hungover days, but the best cure is tea and a long shower, using cypress scented Nesti Dante soap. It's bracing without being blisteringly so. A good walk helps too!

getoffthattabletnow · 01/12/2015 13:11

Feuilles de Tabac by Miller Harris is Sotd .I have a vague memory of a handsome young man smelling like this - back in my youth.Aromatic rich pipe tobacco scented with Pine and a little heat from Pimento.Or maybe it was the scent of the Pipe and tobacco shop in our village. We used to peer inside with fascination as Children and then go buy our own Tobacco ( flavoured coconut shavings) from the old fashioned sweet shop.

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2015 16:26

SOTD is L'Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons. I've worn it a couple of times before, an not thought much ot it, but am really enjoying it today. It's orange blossom and white flowers, but very un-assertive and warm.

Did anyone hear Odette Toilette interviewed by Chris Evans on R2 this morning? He seemed fascinated by the whole perfumes thing and asked some decent questions.

MrsCocoa · 01/12/2015 20:42

Cointreau - roughly what time was the R2 Lizzie Ostrom interview (trying to find it on iplayer)?

Staying with the L'Artisan theme, SotD is Mure et Musc. Have never paid close attention to its opening before but the first 30 mins or so are very clever. Once past the initial blast of bathroom chemicals, a lovely natural lemon note appears, fleetingly, followed by musky berries, then a distinct blast of something green. Magic!

Don't know what the cleaning agent note is (pine?) but that reappears along with the musk/fruit notes, and sticks around all day. Pleasant but not so memorable during this stage...

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2015 20:54

MrsC, judging by where we were on the school run, it would have been around 8.40am!

MrsCocoa · 01/12/2015 21:03

Bang on Cointreau! Starts at 02:10:25.

MrsCocoa · 01/12/2015 21:14

And worth listening on to hear Paul Anka's version of Smells Like Teen Spirit...

FrustratedFrugal · 02/12/2015 16:26

SOTD vintage Mitsouko extrait. Amazing stuff.

cressetmama · 02/12/2015 19:41

My mum is right there with you Frugal.

SOTD has been JHAG Miss Charming, which was a bit too young and fruity, so I toned it down with a rub of Comme des Garcons' Serpentine. That worked well, making it rather less girly.

And I had a TK Maxx browse, and found but did NOT buy, Dzongkha, Passage d'Enfer and the Oudh one. I thought about it, but decided against buying any full bottles untested. I might have acquired a trio set of the 8ml Miller Harris citron scents, because I love petitgrain and citrus, and how far wrong can you go with lemon scents and hand wash? It could have been a massive splurge, so I am feeling relatively restrained!

CointreauVersial · 02/12/2015 21:14

SOTD is Alaia Paris - smeared on from a magazine sample. Not bad - quite a masculine, spicy number.

getoffthattabletnow · 02/12/2015 21:56

Five o clock Au Gingembre.is my SOTD.Purchased from Fragrance X who incidentally must have paid the £20 duty for me after my rather cross email. But its really not what I was expecting.I get Rum infused spice cake redolent of dried fruit and soaked in Tea - Barm Brack to be accurate.Definitely not the fresh sharp Ginger I was expecting.

cressetmama · 03/12/2015 09:43

Have not tried Alaia Paris yet, but Bois de Jasmin rather liked it.

Does anyone know whether Now Smell This is still going? It used to pop into my inbox and then they migrated from/to WordPress and got lost. One of the reviewers had very similar tastes to mine (and presumably similar skin chemistry) and so if she liked a new scent I would look out for it.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/12/2015 16:34

SOTD Coromandel, way too heavy-handed for work though I love it. Sorry about 5 o'clock, the Lutens house style (shared perfumer with Coromandel) is not for everyone. I too crave something fresh today.

CointreauVersial · 03/12/2015 16:42

Ha! Frugal I also overdid it for work this morning, spraying a tad too much Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours for a day in the office.

But I love it at this time of year and am on my second decant - creamy suede and immortelle.

Toys, there was something very fragrant on my doormat when I got home....! Will try it tomorrow, when I've emerged from the Cuir Velours cloud.

FrustratedFrugal · 03/12/2015 17:16

Cuir Velours is gorgeous! I met Naomi Goodsir once in a cocktail party, she wore a Steampunk Victorian outfit with a bustle, pretty memorable!

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 03/12/2015 20:24

Cointreau:Good!

Sotd Dolce & Gabbana Femme (the new purple bottle) sprayed on in Boots, as forgot to put on anything at home, rushing out of the door. Nice and sweet. Inoffensive.

getoffthattabletnow · 04/12/2015 10:45

No worries Frugal I
've managed to swop away the Five o clock Gingembre with an E Coudray.More my type of thing.I'll know to stay away from that particular Nose in future.I've always wanted to try Coromandel now I know I most probably won't enjoy it.
I've been inspired to wear some 'leather' today so Iris Prima it is.The lightest touch of leather from soft pink ballet shoes with pretty powdery Iris.

cressetmama · 04/12/2015 12:20

A huge thank you, Toys! A deliciously scented envelope landed in my mailbox this morning, and I am so excited by the contents: I have always wanted to sniff the Tauer's after LADDM and Lonestar Memories, and you have sent Une Rose Vermeille which is the one I most wanted to try. Roll on tomorrow as SOTD is Jicky. I wanted something bright and fresh in honour of the brief glimpse of sky and sun we had this morning. Normal winter is returning later today..........

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 04/12/2015 12:51

No worries, cresset! Happy it came through. Some of the vials have only enough for one more test, but thought you might still like them.

CointreauVersial · 04/12/2015 13:37

SOTD is Dzing! thanks to Toys.....hmmm...I don't know about this one. I'm not one of those frankly rather odd people who yearn to smell of rubber and strong leather (I scrubbed Knize Ten after about 30 seconds), and for the first few minutes I wasn't keen. But it is slowly growing on me. I think this is one that needs a few try-outs.

cressetmama · 04/12/2015 13:54

May change my username to frankly rather odd Cointreau. Dzing! is not one for every mood, I would concede, but it goes really well with wellies!

shins · 04/12/2015 14:52

Drenched in Chanel No 19. I'm getting a bit restless to try some new perfume.

OP posts:
MissBattleaxe · 04/12/2015 16:04

Mmm. I love Chanel No 19. It's under rated.

I have been trying out Chanel Coco for the past few days and I really like it. I was hesitant about trying it as I loathe Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I think everyone in the world now has a bottle and I'm so tired of smelling it everywhere.

Coco on the other is a fabulous oriental with loads of flowers that keeps changing on my skin. Very good indeed. I don't know why it took me so long.

The little sample phial has nearly gone now though so I'm back to gorgeous Papillon Angelique tomorrow.

flightywoman · 04/12/2015 22:09

Just reading the thread and now must go to iplayer Odette Toilette on Chris Evans. I met her in October at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival and she is a complete darling - she gave me a sample of Bruno Fazzolari Au dela Narcisse des Montagnes (which I hope Mr Flighty has bought for me for Christmas). She is a lovely person, completely mad about scent, very knowledgeable.

flightywoman · 04/12/2015 22:13

MissB how do you find the Papillon Angelique? I love the smell but it fades really quickly on me...

We've been House Of Ill all week so I've not been using anything much, right now all I can smell is moisturiser.
