Hoping someone can tell me if there is a thread for those of us who are "Autumns" as in Colour analysis. Thanks.

There are these brown jeans in Next but they are more of a jegging.

and the second in New Look.

But I was personally looking for a dark chocolate pair.

Hopefully on here is an Autumn and a HOC consultant - she might be able to help more. I am 90% sure I'm a Winter (and if not, the cooler end of Spring - def clear colours for me) but I struggle to wear plum and burgundy - I think they can look different to different people. Maybe you're thinking of a browner, more maroon colour? Or a red plum as opposed to a blue/purple plum.

Maybelline Neon Red is a good (bright) orangey red, lighter than Lady Danger but that sort of colour range. Also try Revlon Fire And Ice, and Eva's Pure Red and Julianne's Pure Red by L'Oreal (the former a brickish shade, the latter a yellow-based coral-ish pink/red).

Silverstreaks · 05/11/2015 08:15

For those not sure of wearing lipstick it might be an idea to start with something very sheer. Revlon's lip butters are very translucent, Candy Apple is a good red for me and I often wear Tutti Frutti too, although realise a bright orange is not for everyone.

Pupsiecola · 05/11/2015 08:50

Good tips re lipsticks, thanks. Other than the nude I wear, I also have 3 Clinique Chubby sticks (a red, an orange, and a warm pink); they sheer ones, not the new ones they've brought out. I must try to wear them and get used to the colour.

Is anyone familiar with Colour Me Beautiful? I'm actually a soft/deep/warm.

Itscurtainsforyou · 05/11/2015 09:16

I had my colours done at colour me beautiful and was "diagnosed" as a warm autumn (although she said she was torn between that and deep autumn). I try to stay open to both palettes.
Some autumn colours just don't suit me though - mustard yellow for example. It doesn't help that my skin tone varies between pink and yellow, depending on the light/time of year etc.

Pupsiecola · 05/11/2015 09:24

I had my colour done years before this second time. The first time the stylist said I was a spring! Which was very odd as I have definitely always been drawn to Autumnal colours. I believed her though and spent a couple of years in pastels before I trusted my gut lol. If I go into a shop the oranges, reds, greens and teals just jump out at me :-) It does make shopping a lot easier doesn't it!

There are some colours in my palette though that I simply don't like so I do avoid those.

Yes, I'm a warm/deep/soft when I had my consultation about 6 years ago.

I find it so hard to buy winter basics in my neutral colours, ie good quality work/smart trousers and jackets. Also shoes for work in the winter. coats I don't have a problem with.
Because of this I started to buy clothes that were off pallette, and now seem to have a lot of random pieces that can't be worn together.

Autumn makeup, OTOH, is easy to find.

Tangfastics · 05/11/2015 12:27

Hobbs do really nice pair of dark brown jeans - I can't find them on their website though but JL do them:

Change to Bitter Chocolate

Blodss · 05/11/2015 13:33

Odfod loving your wardrobe and you are so organised. I need to be much more organised! Thanks for posting a picture. Smile

Tangfastics they are a lovely colour of brown.

Pupsiecola orange, red, purple, greens jump out at me too. I have way to much by the way of sludgy colours in my wardrobe (in piles on floor in some cases) and need to sort this out.

Have any of you changed your hair dramatically and does it affect the colours you can wear?

OP posts:
Pupsiecola · 05/11/2015 15:12

I struggle with shoes. I have really big feet.

Blodss · 05/11/2015 15:17

How big are your feet Pupsiecola? Im a size 8.5

OP posts:
Pupsiecola · 05/11/2015 15:42

9 to 10 depending on the shoe. I'm actually a 9.5; of course it's not tricky enough being over a size 8 is it, I also have to be a half size. So often clothing choices start with footwear; I guess for most people footwear is the last thought?

Redberrypie · 05/11/2015 15:50

I'm an autumn too, tend to wear lots of brown, mustard and orange, I love orange.

Debenhams have got some lovely brown coated jeans in at the moment. I have also bought a few fine knit jumpers from there in the right colours, purple, teal, orange and moss green, worth taking a look.

Pinterest is great for ideas of how to wear the colours together.

Blodss · 05/11/2015 16:07

Yep that's a toughie Pupsiecola. I have always had trouble my whole life getting shoes. It was worse when I was younger but somehow easier now. I keep my shoes and boots forever if I can. How tall are you? Im 5ft 8 so I decided that I would look wrong with smaller feet.

OP posts:
Blodss · 05/11/2015 17:07

Thanks Redberry shall look . I am quite excited today with my new venture into colour

Pupsiecola · 05/11/2015 17:37

Blodss · 05/11/2015 17:50

There have been a couple of threads on S&B in the last month or so re bigger shoes. Very useful. I think I had them all bookmarked already lol. I can buy online, yes, and actually I'm about 30 minutes from Tall Girls :-)

Which celebrities are Autumn? Not that I'm a celeb watcher by any means, but it's interesting to see what they wear if they're similar colouring. The only one I can be sure of is Julianne Moore hair envy.

Itscurtainsforyou · 05/11/2015 20:55

I've bought a few pairs of size 9s from la redoute -?i think they go up to a 10.

Blodss · 05/11/2015 21:03

I posted earlier asking if any of you has gone from dark hair to light and if it changed what you wear. Im a warm light blond and have been for over 20 years. Love it. My whole face glows and it suits me more than warm brown did. :)

I will have to look on their site Itscurtains
