Hoping someone can tell me if there is a thread for those of us who are "Autumns" as in Colour analysis. Thanks.

That's nice evelynj. How does it look after an hour or two?
I am using Rimmel Coral in Gold lasting colour.

Pretty good after a couple of hours-apply the long lasting bit after lipliner & immediately another lippy ( creamy pigmented ones are good like bourjois red 01-Mac lippies can be already v dry for it but I think it's trial & error for each person. Don't put the White moisturising stuff on until the combo is dry!

I'm starting to doubt my "autumn-ness" - I look rubbish in taupe (and mustard yellow etc), but I definitely look ok in burgundy, browns, bottle green etc. I have brown hair/eyes.
Any thoughts?

Blodss · 08/11/2015 00:56

I don't look good in taupe and mustard yellow ItsCurtains. The colours are not strong enough for my colouring and they wash me out. I look good in tomato red, burgundy, teal, warm coral, darkish blue, greens, browns

I think there will always be certain colours within your palette that will suit you more than others and there are also different types of Autumn. I'm a bright Autumn so I don't suit the muted, sludgey shades but some people will look fantastic in them. I just stick to the colours that I know work for me, which may mean I have limited colours but I feel confident knowing that they are all fantastic on me!

Destinysdaughter · 08/11/2015 01:55

I also think taupe and mustard yellow are pretty tricky for anyone to successfully pull off..!

Blodss · 08/11/2015 01:58

I agree Destinysdaughter

Leaf autumn hear and I get lots of comments about how well I look when I wear my mustard chunky jumper. Only do taupe on my bottom half. It's too cold to wear close to my face.

Hopefully · 08/11/2015 12:25

As others have said - mustard and taupe don't necessarily look amazing on all autumns. Taupe (unless v dark) is too soft for me, and mustard too warm - I tend to go for a more acidic chartreuse. However, they both work well with my colours and I love a really dark taupe as an alternative to grey.

Have just bought this biker in the red, which is s gorgeous warm burgundy (not a stark and bluey as a winter/summer burgundy). Would probably only work on fellow deep/blue autumns.

Hopefully · 08/11/2015 12:26

Meant to say, it also comes in a lovely khaki too.

Silverstreaks · 08/11/2015 19:23

Mustard looks great on me. I know because random people in shops and the street have told me. Flattering and confidence boosting.

That is a lovely jacket! I love the dark army green. Maybe I will ask DH for it for xmas...

Itscurtainsforyou · 09/11/2015 00:24

I've found some brown jeans on the debenhams website - 2 different pairs. I've ordered both and will report back.

Plus also a chocolate brown jumper dress :-)

Elemental · 09/11/2015 00:34

I'm a dark Autumn ...actually just dyed a knitted dress to make a chocolate brown jumper dress because I've been wanting one!

Have a look for Bobbi Brown's Burnt Red lipstick, a tomatoey red that looks brilliant for autumns.

Blodss · 09/11/2015 02:44

I would like a chocolate brown jumper dress.

This is it:
m.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_120010502788_-1
And annoyingly it's cheaper today!

Blodss · 09/11/2015 11:30

It's lovely but not long enough for me as a dress. Can you not cancel your order before its processed and reorder at the cheaper price

I have an Esprit jumper like that in a lovely mid brown. But the neck draws attention to my norks too much. Seems to make them look huge (they are quite big) and further apart than they really are :-(

Blodss · 09/11/2015 12:55

Pup I too have to wear lower necklines otherwise my boobs make me look matronly

I'm also an Autumn and a member of a few of the FB colour and style groups though not the Sci Art ones anymore, mainly Zyla and Suzanne Caygill. Have had Sci Art done online and in person with 2 different results; the online one was more accurate, Soft Autumn and the RL gave me Light Spring which was ridiculous though I attempted to live with it for a year! I had a personalised fan done last summer by Beauty Valued who comes over to London in the summer and went to see David Zyla in September when he came over to London who also does personalised palettes and style. Both complement each other and I can see that the colours are spot on for me. In Zyla's system I'm a Spicy Autumn. I wouldn't bother to waste my money on the standard colour systems available in the UK. In Sci Art terms, there's now a woman trained by Christine who lives and practices in London who seems to be doing an excellent job. On FB there is a wealth of colour experience and everyone who's seen Gabrielle rates her very highly.

cloudberry · 10/11/2015 10:32

Also want to add that I'm having success dyeing things if they're the wrong shades. depending on what the original colour is, the dyed shades vary but all the clothes I've recently done fall more or less within my palettes and it makes such a difference. It's like getting new clothes!

Blodss · 10/11/2015 12:38

Interesting Cloudberry I'm still trying to work mine out

This www.12blueprints.com/about/
Is a great starting point. I would honestly forget all about HOC and CMB or whatever it's called. They're not terribly inaccurate, limiting and from what I've seen, most of the consultants look appalling and yes, I've seen one some years ago for a big birthday and wish I hadn't bothered. Judging by other people's comments in the FB groups, this is quite common. I'd spend some time on Christine's website and join some FB groups, you'll get loads of help from people who've been playing with all of this for years.

Blodss · 10/11/2015 13:19

Thanks Cloud will have a look Smile
