Hoping someone can tell me if there is a thread for those of us who are "Autumns" as in Colour analysis. Thanks.

Joining in....I'm an Autumn Leaf - had my colours done with HOC a year ago and it's definitely one of the best things I've ever done Smile

Cloud - I'd be really interested in the FB groups, I've looked but haven't been able to find anything relevant using the search....it would be great to have other people to chat to about it all....none of my friends in RL have been or are interested, so online is the only way to go!

I do struggle to find clothes in my style (Natural Ingenue) at all, let alone in my colours, but that's probably because I don't really 'get' what I should be looking for. So at the moment, I am buying things that are in my colours and which I am comfortable in. I am buying more dresses which show off my waist, as I am short and pear-shaped, but they need to have sleeves, and not be too fitting on the lower half. And I tend to wear them with boots, as I feel too 'exposed' with my legs out in shoes. Grin

By the way, I've found a few more nice things on the DP site (I don't work for them, honest!) - they have yet another sale on. I got brown boots, a few dresses for work, and I've got a coat which I am not 100% sure I'm keeping, but it's soooo soft.

I'd also be interested in a MN FB group for Autumns. Smile

Sounds lovely.

I got a pair of Indigo camel suede boots yesterday so need a camel cardi now . Hush has one at the high end and New look at the lower end. I shall go and have a look at the one in New Look tomorrow. I also want a dark blue knitted dress which will be lovely with camel boots .

Thanks for the link destiny will have a good look through this weekend

I do like the winter pallete and I find some of the colours do suit me so always wondered if you can get shared palettes across 2 seasons.

I always find h&m fab for mustard, ochre, olive and other green shades. They always seem to have things in those colours. Also Zara has a lot of Autumn neutrals.

Karcheer · 13/11/2015 18:27

Funnily enough I wore black for the first time in about 10months and got loads of comments of how nice I look, this never happens when I'm dressed in autumn, it a was very old evening outfit but nothing wow if you know what I mean. It's left me a bit :S about being an autumn now. Has this happened to anyone else?

Blodss · 13/11/2015 20:43

Karcheer I can wear black and midnight blue. I think its my blond hair that stops these colours from draining me. Im still not sure what type of Autumn I am but have found someone online to help me work it out.

I think I look OK in black in the evening, with enough eye makeup on! And don't think you can beat black for dressing up.

Blodss · 15/11/2015 12:12

I'm wearing a black wool Boden dress with my new camel Indigo boots tonight for special dinner date. Will wear my camel suede coat and camel suede Clarks bag. Can you tell I love suede haha

I think in autumn season in trend is green color.PS it's hard to find good quality green clothes

Blodss · 15/11/2015 13:47

Green, berry colours, camel, teal are all in and so lovely.

Pupsiecola · 15/11/2015 20:25

Jigsaw have some lovely teal stuff in atm. I agree, finding a good green is really hard!

Destinysdaughter · 15/11/2015 22:45

I think if you're young and have good skin you can get away with black. However as you get older, black can be very ageing and draining so it's good to get your colours worked out by then!

I used to wear black a lot and thought I needed a lot of make up as I was pale with light blue eyes and freckles but turns out I was just wearing the wrong colours!

Blodss · 16/11/2015 00:22

I look ok in black Destiny but that's because I am warm light blond with freckles and dark green eyes.

Did a personality clothes quiz online today. It helped me realise my style which is a natural, think Jennifer Anniston.

I agree with you about black, Destiny. I spent years wearing just black when I was a student and was forever being told how pale I was.

Am really enjoying my new colours. I now have several outfits I can mix and match at work, instead of odd outfits that can only be worn together. Have just ordered these trousers from Esprit - my first venture into trousers that are not jeans!

Blodss · 20/11/2015 00:57

They look great colours Toffee! Still don't agree on the black issue though. Suits me and I'm 50 years young Grin

Toffeewhirl · 20/11/2015 19:21

I'm 50 years' young too, Blodss Wink. If it works for you (black), keep on doing it.

The trousers weren't a good fit Sad. Never mind, I'll keep on trying.

Karcheer · 20/11/2015 22:22

I solely wore black up until jan when I was diagnosed an autumn. Up until last w/e I'd not worn a stitch of black.
I wear a lot of browns and khaki now, or sludge colours ;)

Destinysdaughter · 21/11/2015 00:48

I'm a bright Autumn, wear a lot of green, turquoise, copper colours. I hated getting my colours done, the woman I went to see was an absolute cow, however she was right and I'm now so glad I had it done. I often get complimented by people for my dress sense and it's only because I'm wearing the colours that work for me. It can be hard finding the right colours but it's so worth it!

I do rebel a bit tho by wearing pinks and purples in bed, Autumn colours just feel wrong as nightwear....

Destinysdaughter · 21/11/2015 00:53

What really convinced me about black ( and I wore black all the time ), was when the consultant had put a dark green scarf against my face and I pulled a face. She was really pissed off with me and whipped off the scarf, revealing my black top underneath. In the mirror I literally saw the colour drain from my face in that moment in a way I'd never seen before! So I had to concede she was right and I never wear black now ( apart from underwear which doesn't really count IMO!)

AlwaysBeYourself · 21/11/2015 22:15

She doesn't sound nice at all Destiny. I would have walked out I think if I was paying all that money. Glad she helped you with your colours though.

Higge · 22/11/2015 09:55

I was diagnosed as a deep autumn. I remained unconvinced that black, white and navy did not suit me. Mustard makes me look jaundiced, beige makes me look dead. I wear a bigger variety of colours now but I don't like a lot of the colours in the Autumn palate, I think they can look a bit frumpy. It's so hard to find a nice shade of brown.

Itscurtainsforyou · 11/12/2015 00:38

Is it possible to be an autumn who looks good in white? I have a few off-White shirts that drain me, but brilliant white looks ok.

Hopefully · 11/12/2015 09:29

Curtains I suppose theoretically it's possible, but I have never ever had an Autumn client who looks better in white than soft white. Unless the soft white is a summer one, rather than cream? Or maybe you are seeing lightness/paleness as clearer/brighter skin? Or your personal style leads you to prefer a crisp white shirt to a softer looking one?

Higge I am also a deep Autumn and although black is absolutely atrocious on me (and is on every autumn I know, but again, theoretically possible if you are a very deep Autumn), I know that true navy works perfectly well on me, practically as good as the Autumn one, and the warmer autumn colours aren't that great. Something that often gets lost in the colour analysis process is that clients should get used to holding everything they are thinking of buying up to their faces and getting to know what good and bad colours look like - this will teach you where you can push the limits of your colour palette. However, the more you push those limits, the more you lose the mix and match potential of your wardrobe, so it's not always the best idea to push it as far as you can, iykwim.
