I am craving purple Dr Martens. Should I just consider it a hormonal episode and ride it out or embrace the need for clumpiness?

I am 40. I want patent spectra ones or cherry reds.

Do I need to have a word with myself?

Embrace it. But buy some double layer running socks to wear in them

Go for it - I'm older than you and they are on my Christmas list.

As a teenager I lived in my DMs and in the past 5 years I have re-embraced my love for them

HookedOnHooking · 27/10/2015 15:58

I'm 41. Gave in to my purple Doc Marten cravings a while back and love thrm.

NotTodaySatan · 27/10/2015 15:58

Oh they're amazing!

You have to buy them!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/10/2015 15:59

I think cherry easier to wear than purple.

MrsJayy · 27/10/2015 16:02

Dd has the purple ones they are lovely she wears them a lot fwiw she isnt a teenager she is fully grown Grin just get them i prefer them to cherry

CreviceImp · 27/10/2015 16:03

I wear a lot of black and purple......

I blame all that indie stuff on Bbc4 of late.

It's the 1990's in my head now.

Feck me it'll be daisy headbands next if I'm not careful.

Oh, they're lovely! Never too old for DMs.

CreviceImp · 27/10/2015 16:05

Although I do like the 1914 cherry reds..... And they're completely different after all....

CreviceImp - I have £100 in birthday money and I keep thinking about buying purple DMs with it. But I just can't quite decide. It is nearly my birthday again. If you go for it, please come back and tell me how amazing they are.

Pooseyfrumpture · 27/10/2015 16:11

Oh I miss mine Sad I have no idea what happened to them, wore them everyday for years but can't remember where they ended up.

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 27/10/2015 16:16

I am craving a pair of pale grey nubuck ones...

steppemum · 27/10/2015 16:16

I would adore a pair of purple DMs. Unfortunately my feet are size 10 and they don't do them in that size Sad

Go for it.

CreviceImp · 27/10/2015 16:16

My teenage son has just given me side-eye when I sought his view over this great and weighty matter.

Splendid. Off to order.

He wears fat trainers and snap caps so if he thinks they're rank I work on the principle it's all good Grin

Will report back Pers if I don't look an utter tit Grin

They are gorgeous. I bought a lovely silk shirt dress recently that would look fabulous with them. And I've got a few years on you Halloween Grin

I think this year is the year of purple (and white and green, guess what film I saw at the weekend)

Hobbes8 · 27/10/2015 16:30

I have grey, yellow, baby pink, hot pink and pewter doc martens and I still want a purple pair, because that's what I had in my youth.

MrsJayy · 27/10/2015 16:31

Ive walking problems i find the boots to clumpy for me i trip i have Dm shoes just in boring black though i have had them years

PersonalClown · 27/10/2015 16:36

Go for it! I'll be 37 soon and am currently breaking in these!

belindarose · 27/10/2015 16:36

I just bought beautiful silver grey ones. Used to live in coloured ones and have not coped with footwear well since I thought I was too old.

I am so happy now. All my winter footwear issues are solved.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 27/10/2015 16:38

Do it! DM boots are never out of style.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 27/10/2015 16:40

Despite my efforts I can never ever look right when wearing these Envy Recently charity shopped a hardly worn pair of the cherry red ones, someone had a good find that day. Dh bought me a pair of brown ones I was after, I still haven't worn them!

BathshebaDarkstone · 27/10/2015 16:41

I had the black ones with flowers all over them, now I have the brick red ones. I'm 48. Grin

Knackeredknitter67 · 27/10/2015 16:51

I'm 48 and have three pairs of DMs at the moment. Would totally buy the purple ones if I could justify them.

Branleuse · 27/10/2015 17:04

you cant go wrong with DMs. Those purple ones are lovely, and will be good waterproof and snowproof winter boots
