I am craving purple Dr Martens. Should I just consider it a hormonal episode and ride it out or embrace the need for clumpiness?

I am 40. I want patent spectra ones or cherry reds.

Do I need to have a word with myself?

The kids ones seem to be made of a softer leather. My youngest has a few pairs and didn't need to break them in.

I always have to size down in them but half sizes would be great.

Hobbes my DD will happily walk around all day in her docs. She's 22 months.

Purple DMs are what I wear with basically everything short of full evening dress. They are amazing. And the colour isn't too garish, they do pretty much go with most things.

I wish I could justify splashing out on another colour too. As it is, I wear the purple ones for about 3-4 years until they wear through, then get the same ones again.

I honestly think purple DMs would be the one thing I rescued from my (hypothetically) burning house.

Thanks all. I'll add some kiddie sizes to my considerable DM shopping list. My baby pinks are bearing up well as we speak during a very soggy visit to Peppa Pig World.

I've wanted these for years

But now I want shiny purple DM boots.

I'm 38 and feeling so dowdy as I'm massively pregnant. You lovely lot have convinced me to go for a pair (desperately wanted to but was scared of being too old to do it).

For those who said about needing a half size Amazon seem to sell half sizes. Not sure if they are legit though as the prices seem really good.

I have them troll but in the 12 eye ones, which they don't seem to do in the brown sherling anymore. They are so comfy in the inside.

When I finally emerge from my maternity clothes I will want to wear my DMs with grey/blue/black skinnies and jumpers/t-shirts. I don't really wear bright clothes so I won't go that adventurous... Which do you think are best out of these

I'm 57 soon. I wear my (much admired) purple dms regularly. I have green, red and black too. I also have a few pairs of dm shoes.

I love DM's. I had a camouflage pair as a teen. I have been coveting these for quite some time:

They are beautiful. I wish my extra extra wide feet could still fit into DM's (thanks for the pregnancy foot spread that didn't go back DC3!!!!!) I had to give my lovely oxblood ones away to my (very chuffed) niece-along with 2 other pairs of biker style boots.

Gutted Sad

Ohhh Slammer. All bloody gorgeous. I want some shoes, but the strap doesn't fit over my high instep. I'm sat here in my red patent ones, haven't worn them for ages and forgotten how comfy they are. I'm vair, vair old (56)

The shoes are the only ones that have needed wearing in and they still rub over the toes. So no good for work, which is what I bought them for.

To my fellow DM lovers, do you wear them during spring/summer? It's Spring/Summer here in Australia and I miss wearing my DMs but afraid my feet will be too hot.

Report
Fink · 29/10/2015 21:20

Mayum I don't tend to wear them on a really hot day, but on a cooler summer's day I would. And definitely through spring and autumn. But that's a British spring. It's not the boots themselves so much as the fact that I wear them with three pairs of socks!

Zippy - think it depends on how much you want to be noticed/blend in. The navy as less conspicuous and probably much easier to keep clean. Grey looks good for making a statement though. Not an expert since I buy them so infrequently, but I wonder if the fact that they are unisex rather than women's is what's making them cheaper?

So. I think I've finally found what I want for Christmas! I've wanted a pair for years

I have both those pairs too Slammerkins!
I have the boots in brown with a red plaid inlay and the heels in patent with a flower design stitched in!

Plus the tattoo ones and a fleece lined buckle pair that have seen better days!

I shall be living out my days in Dms and Converse.

I like the way the Triumphs came with regular laces and ribbons for those extra special dressy up occasions Grin

The Charlas are great for this time of year. Toying with getting the Moll version.

The Darcie patent ones sell well on eBay! Mine were only £90 and I'd make that back. Although, as they say on Antiques Roadshow oh no, part of the family, I'd never sell them
Gorgeous red marbled pair on there in my size. Soooooo tempted.

I have 20 hole ones and classic 8 holes. I also have a pair of Triumphs. Really want something in-between now, shame they don't come in purple...

This thread is making me want to break in my purple DMs! I got them early this year but have been so lazy to break them in.
