Grr - DH - has just said - I'd like to go to London to meet and old friend - I've been trying to come to a meet up for at least three years. No Chance DH - I say. Why don't you just go, he says - because who's going to look after the children I say, plus then there is the expense of going over. I love how he can just take off and assume I am always there to pick up the slack but it doesn't work the other way round. Then he looks huffy when I point this out!!

Blackduck · 22/10/2015 21:20

Stropps as my boss says 'we do not live in a consequence-free environment'

cressetmama · 22/10/2015 21:46

My best wishes to you Stropps for even more patience than you have already proved you have. I have been Angry with DS for refusing to come along to a Hamlet cinecast this evening when I got the tickets with his English A level in mind. It was great staging and Benedict Cumberbatch was superb (freezing auditorium though) but after an hour and three-quarters to end of ACT II, I bailed out. Did not sleep well last night!

NUFC69 · 23/10/2015 07:31

Another one here who didn't sleep well: I woke up 1.30, was still awake at 5, then dozed until 6.30. Shock

Quiet morning putting the house to rights, then DGS1 at 12. Bless him he wants a ride on a bus, his DM is hoping to join us in Newcastle as she is hoping to have a half day.

I hope you get some good news today, Stropps.

Unbelievably unprofessional of that woman, Herbs.

Woken up by faulty smoke alarm at 4am. 3 random blasts then nothing. Confused. Oh and I really want to use one of theseHalloween Smile

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 08:19

Hattitude, call his bluff and come to a MU. Please? DP used to pull that stunt when the kids were younger and still does to an extent: as I've said before, he steps in if I'm not around but day to day I'm more In Charge.Angry

Rosebag · 23/10/2015 08:46

Angry on your behalf Herbs for the silly HR woman and cresset for the Hamlet debacle!

Sounds like it went well and you got a good feeling about the place, Stropps. Best of luck, I hope you get it.

BD how lovely to contemplate Venice!

Rudy I'd love to be able to nag my DS a bit about UCAS...the reality is he doesn't stop going on about it.... and forwarding me confirmation emails and god knows what... He said to me yesterday, what did you do, Mum? I said well, there was UCCA and we filled in a form in handwriting, and sent it off with some reference or other from school, and then we got sent these cards in SAE's with offers or interview dates....Grin Sorted.

Hatty I was talking with BFF yesterday about this very topic. DH's/DP's pissing off on jollies with such ease of mind. (Hers goes off on cycling trips at least three times a year...next one is to Peru, in addition to work trips and annual skiing, not all of which are business...) Whereas even with older DC we seem to need the strategy of an army and Complex Arrangements for a meagre weekend away once in a blue moon. You are not alone. Come anyway...time we met Smile

Right I am off to a meeting with other teachers. Since this is taking place in an out of town shopping mall, I am taking my M&S 20% off vouchers. This will put me in a good mood for all the domestic dross I'm looking forward to not this weekend. Happy Friday Crepeys.

Get a triple pack of tons nice walnut whips Rudy , or something from Ren (gorgeous skincare) maybe
???

Hatty , most unfair imho. Definitely worth having an argument over, with plenty of umbrage and outrage.

Stropps , dd is reinforcing her idea that she is worthless. That's not something you will be able to unravel I think. At some point she'll have to get neutral help with that, but your instinct to hold things together is nothing short of heroic. As she is being a toddler, I'd do the same thing you're supposed to do with a 2year old which is ignore and do not feed the shitty behaviour, and reward the good. I think so anyway S if the job is yours, the detachment from family for a couple of nights a week might save you Stropps! I certainly don't imagine dd will have as much fun acting out when there's no audience..
If you did well at that interview after all that Stropps, you could rule the World.

Meeting with HR was a bit grim. I don't think they have a clue about what's been going on.Firstly ,
I said I may be interested in redeployment depending o. What they could offer me thus urging them to get their finger out and find me something.they asked me to write my skills on a bit of A4. 'FSake
Then
I was told that the JD and terms and conditions of my proposed new post ( this is same job I'm in but moved into new company) would change before Tupe. I said I was sure , on a point of law that they could not do that and I would seek legal help. Many faces.
So more uncertainty, and I will have to get help from Employment Law Friend again.
Can they really think they can do this without question? My understanding is that you are Tuped on exactly the same terms and conditions that you were originally contracted to do.
There were tears yesterday.mostly frustration that they are still taking the piss. It took the whole of my Pilates class last night for me to stop shaking

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 09:47

Cremo, wtf are they on?

see this and this.

NUFC69 · 23/10/2015 09:49

Oh, Crem, that is rubbish for you. Get as much legal help as you can. Thanks Now drooling over the thought of walnut whips.

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 09:56

Rudy, I got free delivery on all orders the other day, plus the Sparks 20% off - is that finished now?

I can't remember anything about my UCCA applications!

I slept OK, but would have loved to have stayed in bed - DH and I met up with his old school/uni friends last night. They are here for 5 days from NZ on an all expenses paid jolly to see the 2 semi-finals. The "hosts" paid for all our drinks and food last night and we didn't get home till late... Also, 2 other old school friends of DH's turned up - both living/working in London - he hasn't seen them for 25years!

herbaceous · 23/10/2015 10:00

Crem, what a bunch of utter shitelarks. They obviously have profound arse/elbow differentiation difficulties. In the good old days if they'd ended up making you redundant you could have taken them to a tribunal, or at least threatened them with it, and got a marvellous pay out (as I did with a similarly incompetent HR department). But not sure it's so easy these days.

Grit your teeth, keep buggering on, and get lots of advice. One day it will be all over.

Blackduck · 23/10/2015 10:11

Cremo so so sorry. Sounds like here to be honest. Unfortunately they did get away with it as they ended up not actually making anyone compulsorily redundant...
And I heard yesterday the Head Honcho whom I have zero respect for, was bollocking everyone including liberal use of the F word - I'd complain, but people are too scared. It's management by Bullying.

Yes Venice for two days next week - I have been before but ds hasn't so big surprise :). I will toast the Crepeys in prosecco - someone has to...

Stropps any word? I really don't know how you keep going with dd - I'd have lost it by now. Although it does very much bring back the behaviour of the daughter of a friend...

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 10:56

God Cremo, just seen your post. What effing arses. I'm sure that's not legal, is it?

Cremo · 23/10/2015 11:14

The thing is , I do not know BTM . It feels all wrong. I went out of the meeting feeling pushed about and set upon. My colleagues are mostly just going with it, so I am stuck out on a limb. They want to put more flexibility into the contract apparently and change the shift patterns to maximise the now tiny team. ( 4 ft staff equivalent instead of 13 as it is now.) they are dangling increased wages for increased flexibility. Fuckers. Some of my team have other jobs and work their hours around them. BiscuitSad so they will be penalised for this in the new structure. They refused to give me a written version of the new terms and conditions so I can only advise lawyer friend anecdotally which is infuriating.
I am at my wits end.

Cremo · 23/10/2015 11:22

Hatty just thinking we could have the Cambridge meetup we talked about about two years ago.Qqq could see ds, Rudy show us about a bit, wee overnighter for all others.GrinGrin

Stropperella · 23/10/2015 11:46

D'you think we could convince Rudy to convert her listed outhouse into a Crepey Retreat cottage? Grin Grin
Oh Crem, you appear to be dealing with the shiftiest bunch of shifty feckers there ever was. And refusing to give you a written version of the T&Cs just says it all. And 4 people to do the work of 13??? Wishing you strength to keep on with dogged determination.
And Crem, you are absolutely spot on about dd's toddler behaviour being about proving her worthlessness. I shall have to learn how to put aside my frustration at the total waste of her academic ability etc, because she is clearly determined to cock up completely in order to prove her shiteness. I know from bitter experience that if I lose it and tell her exactly what I really think of her behaviour, it makes it a whole lot worse. Because bizarrely that reaction from all and sundry is EXACTLY what the ridiculously crap behaviour is trying to elicit. However, I would just like to say that it is all completely doing my head in, not to mention tying my back into epic knots all over again. Bummer.
No word yet from the school, and am thus now at that horrible no-news-post-interview stage where I have convinced myself that I probably came across as laughably eccentric or worse and the school would rather employ Stropdog as a teacher in their learning support department. (you appear to be able to bring your dog to work if you work there, but I fear that Stropdog is not a sufficiently superior animal and would anyway wreak havoc among the glossy squirrel population that skips happily around the manicured grounds)

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 11:54

Cremo, ring ACAS helpline say hello to DSis if you get her. I have done some work on TUPE before and I am pretty sure this isn't legal.

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 12:21

In S&B news I have treated my tiny trotters to these.

Blackduck · 23/10/2015 12:36

here

This is advice from the gov website - would seem to say everything stays the same. Don't let them try to change your contract before TUPE or you would be stuffed.

Cremo the behaviour of some is beyond belief. They brought in a GR consultant on mega bucks to screw us over. Do not assume HR are on your side...

Rosebag · 23/10/2015 12:45

I like MI

Blimey, M&S is like a mad house....all these keen shoppers waving their Sparks cards around and braying like donkeys. I have bought a pair of tapered maroon smart trousers. Dunno if I'm keeping them though.

Rudy schools have their own deadlines for UCAS and DSs school tends to be a bit previous about things. The OxBridge and Med School, application had the earliest one, a couple of weeks ago and the rest have to be in by Monday. ( they don't have half term) In reality you've got at least til January. It's quite disconcerting as the the Oxbridge/Meds already have offers rolling in from their other choices....aaaargh the whole things driving me nuts.

No M&S delivery charge if you do click and collect btw.

Oh god , crem Do nothing further without legal advice. As Herbs said ...it will not be like this forever. Xx

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 12:57

Right on the money, BD - bet they're trying to change before TUPE. Bastards.

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 12:59

Ah yes, of course they are. AngryAngryAngry
