MrsS the way he's going not very long :)

First they claimed it was the Licencing Act - hmm - then he just said 'my pub my rules'.... Yep 'your empty pub' - enjoy it.

Rose agree with Cremo - I think you are amazing...

Laska5772 · 11/10/2015 20:40

ooh will have a read then .. ,
me 57, 2 small grandkids ( anotherinthe way ( yikes) still employed, (but wants to retire when 60 if not made redundant before then). Not too shabby on the S&B/ fashion front i think .. but def a mid range , mid price High St type dresser .. Love TK Maxx though! (..and Hush..)

GiddyGiddyGoat · 11/10/2015 20:41

And yes Rose, you are fab - and kind and helpful to everyone. Might I just remind you that you've 'just' written an AMAZING PLAY. Hope you told these over achieving types that they were sharing a diner table with a playwright??

A couple of us on here are proud and doting grandparents Laska (not me - yet - I've just waved my eldest off to university a week ago ).

Hi Laska - welcome - not a gp either (Ds only 12).....

bigTillyMint · 11/10/2015 21:10

Rose, how/why is that any better than what you do/have done? You are selling yourself short, as many others on here do!
I agree - what is "really living"? We are all really living! There is so much more to life than an important sounding job-title...

We all have days when we feel that we are just existing (well I do when worn down by stresses and strains at home), but being content/happy in your own skin with people around you who love you is the most important thing. IMHO

Hi Laska. Do join in!

BD what a shame about the new landlord.

Auriga · 11/10/2015 21:13

Lovely walk in the woods with DH this afternoon. DD's friends have dispersed, after a breakfast of pizza and cheesecake Grin and I'm thinking about the next onslaught.

Has something knocked your confidence more than usual, Rose? The virus maybe? Perhaps I should ask Sister to take another look at you, or maybe you need to put your feet up in front of Downton.

Crem, does Option 1 come with protected salary? At least one option should, shouldn't it? Otherwise it would look like constructive dismissal.

NUFC69 · 11/10/2015 21:53

Hi, Alaska - welcome. I have just received my Hush catalogue and drooled over a lot of the stuff. I love TKMax, too, but it's all or nothing there for me.

DH has just spent an hour claiming compensation for our delayed flight to Cyprus the other week. It looks like it should be €400 each, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Good luck with your week, BD and Crem. Thanks

NUFC69 · 11/10/2015 21:54

Sorry, Laska, I see the iPad wants to change your name.

herbaceous · 11/10/2015 22:31

What ho, Laska. I too am a long way from being a grandparent, having a DS of six, but have plenty of wattle and look severely over my glasses.

Had a lovely day today. Went to a pick-your-own place, and after about an hour of agricultural labour emerged with a huge punnet of strawberries, a large bag of French beans, three sweetcorn and half a hundred weight of onions. Grand total £8.

Then to Forty Hall in Enfield, a lovely old house with all sorts of fun in each room, formal gardens, woodland walks, a farm, etc, where much fun was had. DS was particularly taken with goat, and called her Lovechins. Shae about the horrid woman in the cafe, who rolled her eyes and tutted at my requests for 'tea for two' and 'ice cream'

I am finding the Crepey crew are enabling me to do more Really Living. Only the other day I found myself watching the most amazing play in a fabulous house, where I was welcomed effusively by a wonderful family...

herbaceous · 11/10/2015 22:37
Wink
Chillywhippet · 11/10/2015 22:51

Inspired by Laska I'm saying hello after having looked ata few of your threads and wondered what the topic is!

I'm hurtling towards 50, shocked to be taking HRT and would be a huge Hush fan too but at 5ft and 1/2 inch and size 10, I look like a sack of spuds in Hush Hmm

Rosebag · 11/10/2015 23:12

You're all right. I just get down about how much I run to stand still. And doing my tax return today...I failed to make the tax threshold for another year. I think Sister Auriga' is right too....a nasty virus affects the mind as well as the body. My play....well, I believe in it, but how to get it out there. ConS, whom I love dearly, is on a go slow at the moment and leaving bloody everything to me and I just want to lob something at his head. DH couldnt give a flying fXXk. I have three functions coming up and not a thing to wear, and can't really justify a spree on new cocktail/black tie gear. I might have to cultivate the crepey charade shop habit. What's that wonderful word of Cremo's.... Bolleaux Grin

Ok rant over. Tomorrow is another day. Welcome Laska I'm ancient, 54... No grandchildren and in no hurry for them....

herbs in my neck of the woods, eh. Gosh the cafe lady at Forty Hall was miserable even when we used to go there when dS1 was small ( over 20 years ago....)

Lalsy · 11/10/2015 23:26

Welcome Laska and Chilly....I like Hush too, or at least the bits that don't make me look like a beige bowl of porridge on legs and recently I have bought some shoes from Land's End. Got older teens.

That's a really good quote about comparison.....it is hard not to but never sheds light, just chips self-esteem and creates bad feeling. Rose, wot everyone said....but I get you.

CointreauVersial · 11/10/2015 23:37

Ooh, newbies on the thread, how nice! I'm 48, three teen/tweenage monsters, definitely NO grandchildren for a while, thank you.

Collymollypuff · 12/10/2015 00:32

Lots of us have dogs, Chillywhippet - from your name, maybe you do too? Indeed we have a hotly contested league table for the worst behaved dog, since although our dc are impeccably behaved at all times Grin our dogs are not.

BeachysFlipFlops · 12/10/2015 07:07

Morning Chilly and Laska, together you sound like a cocktail! ( and the Crepeys are very fond of cocktails)......

I have learnt from last weeks freezing fashion disaster and channelled Herbs. I have new Sainsbo' trousers for work, which are thick and warm. You know that magical pair of trousers that feel like trackies, but don't look like trackies (well I hope they don't). They are black with pinstripes!

Rose, Rose, Rose..... Please hold your head high and remember that you stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of them.

I'm off to the National tonight.... Can't wait! Bought the tickets eons ago and now they are all sold out, so good choice. It's called People Places and Things and all about a middle aged woman in rehab Confused that'll be cheery then!

addle · 12/10/2015 07:31

Beachy, I've heard PP and T is great so enjoy.

Chilly and Laska, I'm 55 with mid teen and v early twenties, one cat

curiously unsatisfying weekend - shouldn't have been, saw lovely friends and enjoyed weather. maybe it's about going back to work today, as have feeling i blotted my copybook last week. oh well.

have a good week everybody.

BeachysFlipFlops · 12/10/2015 07:43

It's the same playwright who did Enron and The Effect and I really enjoyed both of those. I like the new Dorfman Theatre at the NT as well. Really quirky space!

Forgot to say, 50, no dgc here, 3 dc and 2 dogs!

motherinferior · 12/10/2015 08:04

I am contemplating the week with some terror. Smile

I am 52, daughters of 14 and 12, and prone to phases of luxuriating in self-pity and self-reproach about being small and patheticSmile.

motherinferior · 12/10/2015 08:04

Also three cats and a hamster.

bigTillyMint · 12/10/2015 08:05

Beachy, that sounds right up our crepey street!

Hope today is better than you are thinking, addle.

I quite fancy a ChillyLaska cocktail. I am 51 with mid-teens - DD, DS and DHGrin

In a flurry of activity last night, we now have most of our Christmas plans sortedShock

hattymattie · 12/10/2015 08:31

Hello Laska - I'm based in Paris and am 51 with 3 children 19, 17 and 13. I have told my DD's in no uncertain terms that I don't expect to be a grandparent for at least another ten years. Right gotta get on with mundane household chores.
