HR are never on your side. They are merely a vehicle for management shafting you without getting their hands dirty. 'The caring face of c*ntery', as one HR bod once put it.

wordassociationfootball · 23/10/2015 13:35

We. Know. Everything.

And if we don't, we help anyway.

Hilarious, wonderful friend departed peacefully last night.

Rosebag · 23/10/2015 13:42

Flowers Flowers Flowers WAF

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 13:48

"D'you think we could convince Rudy to convert her listed outhouse into a Crepey Retreat cottage?" - Yes, yes, yes!
I would be up for a Cambridge MUSmile

Stropps, did they give no indication of when they might let you know? Are they on half-term?

Cremo, I am guessing you have no union to go to? Terrible situation for youSad

An hour and a quarter to go...

Cremo · 23/10/2015 13:49

Oh darling. I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 13:57

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 13:58

Oh WAF, so sorrySadFlowers

herbaceous · 23/10/2015 14:28

Oh WAF that's so sad. Glad you got to see her while you still could.

Here girding loins to take DS swimming. After the science museum yesterday I am knackered, so it's the last thing I want to do. But at least it won't be too crowded. And he's being a right little sh1t today, having spent hours parked in front of the telly. As I'm a bad mother.

Blackduck · 23/10/2015 14:48

WAF {}

Stropperella · 23/10/2015 15:31

WAF, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Good that it was peaceful. But Sad Sad Flowers

Crepeys, I got the job. The headmaster rang me to say that they have "decided to stop interviewing, because we have found the perfect fit." All subject to the usual stuff re: references (they want 4, and some of mine - as they already know - will be whacko translation ones) and qualifications etc.

Am like this: Shock Shock Grin

Blackduck · 23/10/2015 15:32

OMG Stropps that is the most fantastic news!!! (But expected of course). I am Grin Grin

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 15:43

Stropps, that is wonderful. And you were WRONG with the self-recrimination, weren't you.GrinGrinGrinGrin

wordassociationfootball · 23/10/2015 15:48

Stroppppppppppps!!!!!! That's AWESOME and that validation will be brilliant help in your d-dealings (see what I did there? Not a stammer)

Thanks for kind thoughts lovely crepeys.

Have delivered two pieces of work today and very much looking forward to seeing Dmum and then BF for dinner.

motherinferior · 23/10/2015 16:35

I have achieved v little.

Dd2 is being Hard Work.

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 16:38

Stropps, so, so pleased for youSmileSmileSmileWineCakeFlowers So great that you kept on trying and looking and didn't give up. I hope this provides a RL example of how to succeed in adversity for ypu-know-who, but also think a night or two at your mums each week might be the way to save your sanityWink

Rosebag · 23/10/2015 16:41

Grin Stropps Congratulations and so well deserved. I hope that this will be the beginning of a great career in SpLD or which ever discipline to which you turn your undoubted talent. Maybe there's also hope for me yet. Brill news!

NUFC69 · 23/10/2015 16:46

So sorry to hear about your lovely friend, WAF: good to hear that it was peaceful. Thanks

Wonderful news about the job offer, Stropps, you deserve it after all your hard work. WineWineWine tonight!

I am still not warm as the wretched bus was 20 minutes late and the wind was howling. DGS1 enjoyed his McDonald's - he has a great palette so I find this surprising.

herbaceous · 23/10/2015 16:59

Stropps. I am sounding the trumpets. This is fucking brilliant news. I am so thrilled. DO NOT let any of your family derail you. Or they'll have me to answer to.

Crepe Fear!
Auriga · 23/10/2015 17:04

Glad you saw your friend before the end, WAF, but sorry you won't see her again.

Stropps, well done Thanks brilliant.

Baking for Scotland here Grin

Happy (delighted in fact) to report that cousin who is married to pillock has decided they can't make the party Grin Grin. Didn't want pillock to come. Still blame him at least 50% for DH's life-threatening accident in 2012. Cousin had cheek to ask if we wanted to take DM there instead. As if I'd ever set foot in the place again Angry

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 17:14

Auriga, am loving ur description of ur cousins DHGrin andt glad they aren't coming!

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 17:20

Here I have come home to a pan of curry and a pan of rice with veg - DDs bf cooked them all lunchSmile And they are all playing FIFA so I have the sitting room to myself, thank God!

Lalsy · 23/10/2015 17:48

Stropps, I was Grin when I read your post saying you enjoyed your interview - and I am GrinGrinGrin now. So very, very pleased for you.

You and Herbs have been beacons and examples and other wonderful things, to all career-challenged/underwhelmed/underconfident crepeys.

WAF, I am sorry Flowers. Glad you saw her knowing it was the last time.

Crem, what incompetent gits. dh was TUPEd (I think) three years ago - it took two years in the new job and a few months the other side to sort out some of the HR bits, but they had to be incredibly careful not to reduce his T and Cs at all or there would have been hell to pay (tribunals can be time sinks for years). I don't know how that applies with shifts etc tho - there may be some operational flexibility guff built into contracts?

hattymattie · 23/10/2015 18:21

Rushing in to say Stropps congratulations, you deserve itCakeWine.

WAF - condoleances for your friendSadFlowers.

bigTillyMint · 23/10/2015 19:34

So how bad was Ginger Spice on The One Show?!

I appreciate that I may not be asking the right people, but if I set my phone alarm for 4.30am on Sunday, it will automatically update to go back an hour, won't it?Confused

MontserratCaballe · 23/10/2015 19:49

BTM, yes it will assuming it is an iPhone type alarm or a clock radio.

WAF, so sorry to see your news. Life can be so cruel but I am so glad you got to see her last week. Much love Flowers

Half term. Aaaah. I have work to do but no need to go in. Huzzah.

Will endeavour to catch up properly but wanted to say quickly ENORMOUS well done to Stropps - they saw instantly what we all know. Fantastic news. You are amazing Flowers
