Best of luck, Herbs and BD. Go get 'em!

Brian in active service again here. Back later I hope once he's been put away.

motherinferior · 02/11/2015 10:50

Oh no, Monty!

Best of luck to you lovely starters/restarters.

I am having a happy dance moment because one of my favourite novelists likes my draft.

BeachysFlipFlops · 02/11/2015 12:01

Bad luck Monty and very happy dance,MI Thanks

My news is that IT toddler employee might move to another team Smile I'm smiling and waving and saying 'Oh what a pity' whilst wanting to join MI in a very happy dance!

Cremo · 02/11/2015 12:25

Happy limply dance for Beachy and MI. Toes and fingers crossed for Mrs Knockemdead Herbs and Mrs takingnomoreshit BD.

I am contemplating my navel and may have one of those fluffy baths that use the whole bottle of bath foam. Up to my neck. Might do some ebaying this afternoon to raise Xmas funds.

Any news on neighbour Mrs S?

Addle, good to see you. Hope you find somewhere idyllic for after Christmas. A week with the inlaws would drive me to drinkGrintoo.

Rosebag · 02/11/2015 12:43

Aaaargh monty....is it you or the DC? Flowers

Lovely news from MI and beachy precipitating dance moves.

Has anyone heard from herbs ?

Envy of addle re lovely county pub plans. We will not be able to get to Sussex at Xmas this year. Partly to do with not wanting to leave DM alone on Xmas day, and partly to do with DS2 doing double the number of shows this season. I can't remember the last time DH and I went away without the DC. It's got worse as they've got older....one might expect it to get better...but the demands of the DCs social life plus DGP no longer being being able to have them over night but them not quite being able to be left either....and DS1 no longer living at home to keep an eye...maybe when Ds2 turns 18 in January? What do Crepeys think....?

Lalsy · 02/11/2015 13:40

MI and Beachy, dance away. That's great news.

Rose, I dunno [helpful]. Our dc mostly get themselves around and dd has been on her own overnight, but I feel ds (16) is on the cusp - we may leave him on a Saturday soon but not sure.

Certainly won't be leaving him if the water in our bathroom is still electrically charged. Everyone is baffled (it is static not current or we would have moved out!).

bigTillyMint · 02/11/2015 15:29

MI and Beachy, that's great!

Herbs and BD, hope it went well. Or even OKWink

Rose, it is way harder to get everyone together now they are older! DD is still keen on the idea of going away with friends this summer - not sure if this is a)possible or b)how it would fit with our plans. When do we dare leave her home alone?!!! I think we need to grit our teeth and do it (but having to take DS with us!)

Collymollypuff · 02/11/2015 16:07

Fantastic news, MI and Beachy! MI, save that email! Use the choicest quotes for your dustjacket (with the author's permission, obvs). Claire Tomalin is going to write "Splendid!" for mine. Wink

BeachysFlipFlops · 02/11/2015 17:16

I would just like to say categorically that MI's achievement in receiving happy news for an excellent review from an esteemed person is WAY more congratulatory than me managing to palm my annoying colleague off on someone else Smile

Off to see 'As you like it' tonight at the National, with a lovely old friend.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 02/11/2015 18:04

Herbs... are you there? Can you speak?

Congrats to all who have celebratory news!
Proud mother alert - just back from school prize day where was able to bask in warm glow of offspring's achievements for a couple of hours. Most pleasing. Off to do the mountains of washing now and write a shopping list - oh well.

Herbs is probably drinking G & T like there is no tomorrow, right now, and will be along later, if she is not too pissed and incoherent! Hope it went well! Off out shortly with DH and Friend to celebrate his birthday.

hattymattie · 02/11/2015 18:42

Logged on waiting for news about Herbs.

I started my Classroom Assistant job today. Lots of admin and library books to get to grips with but everybody was very nice so hopefully it should be OK once I get into the swing of things.

herbaceous · 02/11/2015 19:03

Dearest crepeys! How heartwarming to have you all awaiting news. Well, I was totes crapping it, and felt like crying for about an hour before the lesson started, then - in the manner of a thesp going on stage - as soon as I started teaching them I was fine. I didn't have quite enough material, and didn't entirely stick to the plan, but I made them laugh, taught them something they didn't know, and didn't either throw up or soil myself. So, a triumph. Extra thanks are due to BTM for her 'give them games' tip - much fun had matching contractions. What larks.

The admin is lengthy, and labyrinthine, but no-one seems to expect me to know my arse from my elbow in that regard for a while, so I have some breathing room there.

Off to choir shortly, then a glass of wine I think. Then a whole day of supporting EAL students, then more volunteering Wednesday morning, then more Proper Job teaching in the afternoon. I think I may have to shift/cancel some of my volunteering. I haven't got the head space.

bigTillyMint · 02/11/2015 19:07

Well done GGG's DS ('s?)

That sounds great Hatty - I hadn't realised you were starting today too! So much job news at once.

I am helping DS with his French CA. His first task is to write it out into an at least semi-legible state!

Cremo · 02/11/2015 19:21

Herbs and Hatty, congrats on new start triumphs! Vair pleased for you both!ThanksThanksStarStar

GGG that's lovely about ds. Bugger the domestic drudgery . Much the same going on here , in the time honoured tradition of Monday wash day. How many socks can one man have?

We have fog ( no doubt , so does BD and NU) it's so thick you can see the bottom step at the back door. Fire lit, pizza in oven, feet up. I'm taking this leave seriously Ill have you know.[santa]

hattymattie · 02/11/2015 19:30

Well done Herbs - an absolute triumph.

I kept mine low key - as was sure something would go wrong at the last minute like her asking for my O level certificates - I have bunged an envelope at her with my contract, police check and photocopy of my degree. Hope that's the last of it.

Will also be having a glass of wine.Smile

motherinferior · 02/11/2015 19:38

Hurrah for Herbs and Hattie.

Have new haircut and colouring appointment. Haircut will be fab when washed. He got a bit creative with the styling and I look hilariously Elvis-like. DP has of course posted pic to Facebook.

NUFC69 · 02/11/2015 19:56

Triumph, Herbs and Hatty. Take a bow. So lovely to hear about your successes. Well done to DS, Giddy, and yes, we all have mountains of washing on a Monday. How did your day go, BD? Glad to hear that the hair is sorted out, MI, have strange visions of you crossed with Elvis! Crem, we only had fog until about ten o'clock his morning, the rest of the day has been glorious. Is your back any better at all?

We have had a pleasant day: I swam for 45 minutes, did an hour's Aquafit and then we paid a visit to a large Sainsbos so I could have a look at the clothes. I managed to buy a grey tunic at 25% off, so result. Then an afternoon spent sipping hot chocolate with friends - I am already girding my loins ready for the DGC tomorrow.

Rosebag · 02/11/2015 20:03

Has he tagged you Mi? Grin

Lovely news from herbs and hatty on first day achievements. Wine Star ...anyone heard from BD?

cremo Sister will find that most satisfactory, I suspect.

tilly French CA is a four letter word. Whoever invented CAs should be shot. I feel like adding 'merde' to that crib sheet where you can have 30 words....

DH is out all evening again. I am sitting at the theatre waiting for DD to finish. DH and I had words before he went. He called me a " frustrated professional" Confused Do you ever get the sense that everyone else is living and you're just existing...?Oh, and I have stuck to my diet today religiously by having a huge ciabatta for lunch and I have just put away a goodly portion of omelette and chips. Sigh

motherinferior · 02/11/2015 20:17

motherinferior · 02/11/2015 20:18

That was to your DH not the omelette and chips!
