"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

OOTD very boring again today: MiH skinnies and J Crew Tippi.

I think the reason why skirt/dress and flat ankle boots can look a bit wrong on me is because I am short and have short legs.

I still try though as I don't always fancy wearing heels and sometimes it looks ok-ish.

shopafrolic · 13/10/2015 12:10

Now this is a collaboration I'm excited about. Just saw some of the clothes on This Morning and they look fab.

LinusLovesBretons · 13/10/2015 12:57

I agree shop, I hope there will be some nice pencil skirts as I love her look of a pencil skirt and silk blouse.

Larastheme · 13/10/2015 13:21

this reminds me of the tail of an armadillo or is it just me?

uniqlo, are very smart with those collab, they always turn out to be very well made,

Gorgeous boots shop,

MarshaBrady · 13/10/2015 13:28

Yes me too

Love that collab

shopafrolic · 13/10/2015 13:47

Not just you Lara

So the US10 boots arrived and are too big!!! And the black are no longer on ShopBop - damn! Found some on a US site that ships to the UK and the flipping bank blocked my credit card thinking I was being fraudulent - nope! Just a Voguette shopping! So not sure what happens next - need to wait till they all start work this PM and contact them to see whether they got my order or not. Bloody annoying!

shopafrolic · 13/10/2015 14:04

Amber and anyone else......
I just picked up the pink version on ShopBop with their extra 25% off code for £79.38 incl taxes and del
Grin

MarshaBrady · 13/10/2015 15:55

Nice!

Ujjayi · 13/10/2015 17:09

Shop I'm looking forward to that collab too. Although I love CR, she does always look a tad...grubby I think the "last night's make up" look is rock n' roll under a certain age but after 40 you just look like you left the house in a hurry after a sleepless night with the toddler.

Ujjayi · 13/10/2015 17:10

And now the sodding armadillo bag is appearing on the side bar of everything I look at!!

shopafrolic · 13/10/2015 18:15

Thinking of heading to town for this Chanel exhibition

libertydoddle · 13/10/2015 18:36

Looks good shop. I'd like to come too but next few weekends v busy. That Uniqlo collab looks great.

amber your outfit today sounds fab.

ujjayi you are making me yearn for some fringed ankle boots.

MarshaBrady · 13/10/2015 19:28

I'm on the earlier Eurostar by myself tomorrow, colleagues get in late.

Which means I have a couple of hours to kill in Paris. Oh for a vogue Paris mu of some sort. How happy I'd be to meet one / some / all of you! Would be great fun.

Will try to shop instead Wink

Drywhitethanks · 13/10/2015 20:33

Tried this dress on today. Very nice, thick merino, hand wash, not clingy, lovely colour. Resisted ......I KNOW Shock.....would look fab with biker boots and biker jacket for someone trendier than me.

Ujj it's the smouldering, just-got-out-of-bed, Gitane smoking, sexy-French-woman-with-aura look introduced by BB..........totally the opposite to me Grin matchy matchy, tidy hair............but I do like wine and I am a bit French

QueenCardi · 13/10/2015 20:40

Ooh a mu in Paris would be heavenly!
ujj I hate it when things follow you round the internet! I also kind of agree with you about CR. Im almost starting to think the same about kate Shock
shop so you got the pink? Yay!
dry I struggle with boots with dresses too. As lib!said you need the right proportions. I think I would need a jalouse type boot where you get the dip at the front or more of a shoe boot than full on ankle boot.
The boden boots have been haunting me and I spent all last night looking for an alternative. The only cheaper ones are from aldo but have a 10inch heel! Otherwise there's lvely ones from giovanti Rossi for about £600. Ultimately I love the boden ones but they probably aren't really me and wouldn't reslly mix in with my outfits and I don't want to pay £111 for something that I will hardly wear.

shopafrolic · 13/10/2015 21:38

Blingy have you got your phone back? Sent you a text and a WhatsApp but no reply... How do I get hold of you? X

Drywhitethanks · 13/10/2015 21:56

Shop how you doing?

KittyHello · 13/10/2015 22:06

Have decided I need some trainers, would love a budget version of
IM leopard trainers although I don't like the red bit at the back or these
Louboutin ones Haven't come across and decent budget ones, not feeling the love for the Kurt Geiger ones. Alternatively I'd quite like something like these Frye brown trainers

I too would love a Paris MU

Hope you're getting in some valuable shopping time Marsha

Forget to say earlier hope you're having a great time in Amsterdam Blair

Cool you got the pink boots Shop maybe just what you need to perk you up. Would definitely need an action shot of them.

KittyHello · 13/10/2015 22:08

Dry if you click on the Louboutin link there's a pic of a woman modelling the trainers, I can imagine you wearing all those items.

Drywhitethanks · 13/10/2015 22:20

Kitty v v me, I wear an outfit almost identical with my animal print flats

QueenCardi · 13/10/2015 22:20

Just seem a quote from CR saying, only buy clothes that you plan to wear forever...
This got me thinking. Do any of you do this? I buy stuff that I plan to wear for a long time but forever? I get too bored of stuff.
Also, whilst we're talking about forever stuff, can I whinge about wardrobe icons? In reviewing the boden stuff, LF said that some boots were nice but that she would rather save for the designer version. How to alienate your readers.

KittyHello · 13/10/2015 22:40

Admittedly QueenC I'm starting to think about buying clothes to wear for a long time, not forever though. I have a scarf that I've had for 7 years which still looks good today. I'm considering spending a bit more on plain classic clothes in the hope they won't date and that I can wear them for a long time.

My wardrobe is fairly boring though, skinnies, merino knits, Pistol boots, tanks in plain colours. I have been feeling a bit bored with it lately and would like to jazz things up slightly with some leopard trainers.

I really like those Boden boots too and they would be fine for me if I was going to buy a pair, for me I don't need to have the designer version. I'd be happy with Boden ones Grin

Drywhitethanks · 13/10/2015 23:03

I'm going to copy this look tomorrow. Trying the boots with skirt. I made a wool/cashmere grey a line above knee length skirt last year and I've just added belt loops to hold a pewter Uniqlo skinny belt in place.
H and M stripy top much cheaper than Boden breton that's a terrible fit and same quality
Berkonsgrad (sp?) coral star print scarf Shop found for me a couple of years ago.
Opaques and ankle boots.
That's tomorrow's outfit sorted Smile

QueenC I keep my clothes for ages and do wear a lot of items I have had for a few years. Try to spend on classics. But forever? No, a lot goes out of fashion and I wear stuff out too.

Larastheme · 13/10/2015 23:09

I try to buy stuff that will last a long ,long time, but forever ? I don't know some pieces maybe,

For me, every once in a while, an extraordinary thing happens in the fashion world, an exceptional piece comes along and i instantly know that it can not be missed. Even if it means paying a fortune, like :

my faithful Oversized Gucci sweater, everything about it is absloutely perfect, the fabric, the design, how it looks worn, it still feels as luxurious as the day I bought it some 4 years ago, and I'm sure I will continue to wear it for many more years, and god forbid anything happens to it,as I think its irreplaceable, I still haven't came cross anything that looks as good as it is, not in Gucci or any other brands .
My second piece, is the chanel cardi my dear mum gave to me some years ago, its 10 years old, but the metal chains interwoven on the cuffs along with the classic cut of the cardi gives it a very fresh look, I've been asked about it by strangers if it still in boutiques , as they would like something like it, they really look very surprised when I tell them its so old!

Ditto my newest chanel jacket, I just instantly knew that I will be wearing it for a long ,long, time, it just has that element,

I have few more examples of things that I think will last a long time, My BC cashmere sweaters, LP boots, birkin, all I can see my self wearing maybe forever,
but the rest of my stuff, specially APC,marant and Bruno, I don't see myself wearing them in the long run, still love them to death though, and will keep buying from them, but I don't feel they are forever pieces, and I think they don't pretend to be either,

It seems,I'm only capable of writing essays lately, Wink,

Nighty night!

HappyGirlNow · 13/10/2015 23:13

shop are these the black boots you have on in the photos?
