"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

No Stokey, they're a M and S pair with ponte (?) back IYKWIM.

Head okish, but I normally get midday headache Sad

Off to watch England play U tonight, hope it will be good despite being pointless Sad

Ujjayi · 10/10/2015 09:26

Oh Dry! Hope you're head is ok today. Whenever I read an MNV drunk post I always get this voice in my head Grin

MNV Vol 64
AmberNectarine · 10/10/2015 10:14

Dry I'm out on the razzle tonight - will try and drunk-post in your honour! Glad the skinnies are getting some use, bet you looked fierce!

Tis the season of the magpie now - I will be buying all sorts of sparkly shit now. I have a pair of sequin leggings from H&M I never had the guts to wear last winter - will definitely be cracking those out between now and Xmas.

OOTD is burgundy ribbed turtleneck, black leather mini, opaques, leopard trainers, burgundy biker jacket and Chanel WOC (with a burgundy pom pom key ring clipped to it).

QueenCardi · 10/10/2015 11:44

I'm out tonight too. May wear an lbd.
Hope you find Thor shop. Try the big supermarkets-tesco,msainsburys, Asda.
kitty did you decide against the LV scarf?

Longislandicetee · 10/10/2015 12:05

I am jealous!Envy my Saturday night will probably involve a bottle of wine and strictly by myself as rugby is on.

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 12:52

That pic of Bridget is funny, she looks cute (and tipsy)

Ok am on a mission I need something better to wear in Paris. I've coasted for ages without buying work stuff but I don't want to look out if place. I need a plan!

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 12:59

Dry love your late night post.

Lara gorgeous APC shirt

Amber really like the idea of metallic, I feel the need for sparkly stuff

Blair love that you've kicked off our vogue party season

Shop I'm the same, I'm sending back the Marant scarf Sad I wanted to keep it but it's in the middle with the size

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 13:00

Blingy fab news on the shoes. The other ones are rocking!

Kitty fab buys

Drywhitethanks · 10/10/2015 13:29

Uj "drunk"? Moi? Wink
Amber love burgundy and black. Lovely outfit.
I have already ordered two chpristmas jumpers and a set of flashing christmas brooches for work ofcourse all very cheap tat. I'd love a tasteful sequinned top/jacket though for grown up dos.

Ujjayi · 10/10/2015 17:17

Indulging in the first cosy autumnal saturday with a glass of wine & Watching Mr Morgan's Last Love on Netflix. It should be a wonderful character piece during which I swoon over Clemence Poesy but Michael Caine's accent is way too distracting (Dagenham to Chicago via Atlanta Hmm ).

However, Clemence has provided inspiration on the ankle boots issue I was having & I realise I am not going to be happy with a "one boot for all things" approach. That's obviously why I've found nothing I like so far. I "need" Ash/IM style mid-heel boots for day; a flat Chelsea Boot; & a spiky, edgier boot for smarter/evening outfits. All in leather rather than suede.

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 18:27

I could get lots of boots and be happy too Ujj

I really like this outfit here with boots like these. I want to channel Capucine Safyurtlu in Paris ignoring fact we look nothing alike

Bernice meant to say on old thread that yes a fair few European cities coming up - Prague, Vienna, Milan, Zurich and Paris this week. It has been easier than I thought it might be as it's only usually one night, and really as my dc say with wide eyes you went to another country and you're back after one night?! Or sometimes in one day, if City Airport and close enough. It's nice and sometimes when the colleagues go somewhere - like Copenhagen or Stockholm I feel a bit green which is crazy. Just love the sound of the cities.

I do really need to stop coasting with nice work stuff to wear though. Really can't keep wearing the same thing all the time.

Shop did you get the Thor outfit?

QueenCardi · 10/10/2015 18:36

Hmm, not happy. Feeling as bloated as a bloated thing possibly the toast ive just scoffed, sore boobs and mount Vesuvius has erupted on my chin Angry. According to Dh I look the same as always. He clearly needs to wear his glasses more often.

ujj love the fact that a film has solved/created your boot problem. True vogue! I have a black heeled boot hole in my wardrobe but I just can't justify them when I have navy and grey.
Travelling sounds fun marsha.

I shall make it my mission tomorrow to focus on boots and workwear.

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 21:03

Have fun out tonight QueenC sure you look fab.

I'm enjoying 6 Music, being home and the first of autumn nights too, like Ujj

I find this strangely appealing Loewe metallic skirt Not that I could afford it.

Blingy should buy these Aquazzura obvs ; - how perfect would they look?

Shop whole outfit but better boots for you, pointier.

I really like this Vince probably not my colour though. Who can do it? Winters?

libertydoddle · 10/10/2015 21:21

Love the quote fedup.

I could buy lots of boots too. Would love a pair of lace up mid calf brown boots, dark green bikers, some tan suede fringed anklebboots... I could go on Smile

Marsha job sounds great with all those travel opportunities especially if a lot of it can be done in a day.

dry hope you are enjoying the rugby. Sad for England. Real shame for the whole tournament not to have them in for the knockout stage.

The Alex Munroe hummingbird necklace has arrived and I feel a bit 'meh' about it. DH did not help by asking why I had bought a moth bastard Shock. Has to go back.

Bought a couple of Z for Accessorise necklaces today to try out some different styles. Taking on board blingy's wise words of trying out a style in jewellery before making an expensive mistake.

libertydoddle · 10/10/2015 21:25

QueenC I am sure you do look lovely. Hate that bloated feeling though. Hope it passes soon.

Marsha what type of work wear do you want / need? Smart casual? Or are you feeling the need to go a notch or two above that? I'm guessing you don't need to look city / corporate?

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 21:41

Lib oh no really. Did you love it before your dh said that?

Yes not too corporate. Just so sick of wearing the same thing to meetings. I'm ok when it's just in the office /studio as it's so casual. But meetings are with mostly men in suits so I need to have some other options other than Burberry pants and Marant jacket. I don't think I can do jersey dresses. Maybe a skirt and smart top.

Basically if it reminds me of Paris Vogue editors, it's good. Trouble is I'm cheap when it comes to work clothes and have managed to buy one smart outfit in four years Blush

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/10/2015 21:46

Hi all. Am knackered after my extremely long day of running, shopping and afternoon tea eating and drinking. Amazing day though :) and am all packed for tomorrow!

Whistles jacket in an 8 is perfect and I can't wait to wear it. Also picked up the H&M cut out top, which looks good but needs heels due to the length. And finally, got black Chelsea boots in & other stories. They are a bit shorter than lots of other Chelsea boots, which I think suits me better. Ujj I'll let you know if I'd recommend them once I've worn them a bit!

Lib very sensible about the necklace, which Z ones did you order? I'm wearing my initial one all the time at the moment.
amber have fun tonight
Dry you are so funny, glad you had a good night last night and great outfit.
Blingy hope you find your phone! Party planning sounds fun. Oh and Valentino shoes are v sexy!
QueenC hope you feel better :(
Kitty lovely scarf!
Marsha have a great time in Paris.

libertydoddle · 10/10/2015 22:03

Marsha I tried it on before I showed it to him and my immediate feeling was disappointment so the moth comment just reinforced that.

On work clothes why not just go down the 'uniform' route and get another pair of trousers like the Burberry ones, another jacket and 3 tops that work with all of them. People (especially men) really don't notice the detail on clothes. They just register if you look smart or not.

Whistles jacket is great Blair. I bought the Z necklaces in store today. Will link when on the laptop.

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 22:08

Yes true Lib could just stock up on basics. I should have said women in meetings too obvs but not in suits usually, so I feel a bit different in mine.

Blair are you going away? How have I missed this

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/10/2015 22:13

Going to Amsterdam M, DH and I both have holiday days to use up before Christmas. I've never been so I can't wait! Should go to bed really as our taxi is coming at 6.15.

For workwear, it sounds like you're enjoying your new job a lot more than the last, maybe it's time to invest a bit? Outnet bits? Lib's idea of a few mix and match things is a good idea, sort of a capsule wardrobe.

I'm seriously thinking about doing project 333 or similar, maybe next spring.

MarshaBrady · 10/10/2015 22:23

Yes the last job wasn't right for me, great if I was more into the advertising end of stuff but I'm not so felt out of place. This one is closer to what I do so I feel back on track.

Have a great time in Amsterdam!

Drywhitethanks · 10/10/2015 22:49

UJJ I share your boot dilemma. Have been looking for black ankle boots to wear for work with dresses/skirts since I've been on here. i love my Pettys but they look awful on me with skirts. I need a higher heel . Have seen a promising pair in Hush.

Stokey · 10/10/2015 22:52

Love that pin Marsha, but skirt may feel a bit short in meetings? I think you'd really suit the classic workwear of shirt with a jumper over, trousers and heels. Do you do pencil skirts? They always make me feel quite worky, maybe with a jumper rather than a shirt.

There's a couple of workwear blogs, The Classy cubicle & Belinda's workwear edit. Blair may know more?

AmberNectarine · 10/10/2015 23:09

Greetings from train home. Great night - cocktails, karaoke and Vietnamese. Wore red leopard print Equipment shirt, helmut lang leather leggings, burgundy michael Kors heels and Chanel (of course). Also a gold z for accessorize medallion.

DH is asleep on my shoulder, bless him. Don't think I'll be getting lucky tonight!

FedupNagging · 11/10/2015 00:47

Have just got home - great night out, fab food, cracking cocktails and wonderful wine

BUT, the best part was we didn't stop laughing all evening - was out with a bunch of gf's.

So, have just read today's posts but can't remember a single word; will look again tomorrow when more awake.

Blair I can highly recommend the handbag museum in Amsterdam. My ds's recommend the torture museum. Take your pick!!
