"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

Thanks Blair. I love that dress. Might order. Will think for an hour or two. Sorry to hear you still feel so lousy Flowers

FedupNagging · 06/11/2015 17:37

Happy birthday Viva Wine have a fab time tonight.

Blair that sounds so grim - if you're still feeling awful by Monday, you should maybe see your gp?

Kitty I have 2 pairs of flares - one for flats and one for heels. So far the only flats that look good are these. None of my boots seem to look right. With the longer ones, I have a couple of pairs of heels - these seem easier to style footwear wise. And no not ordered the collar as the dress I wanted to order at the same time was oos in my size and I baulked at paying the postage charge!

Topaz how lovely that your dd is home - have a great weekend.

Happy birthday Viva hope you have a terrific eveningWineCake

On the hand, poor you Blair. Thanks sounds awful. Lots of rest for you.

So I am working from home today wearing Gap long and lean jeans today which are flared jeans with a fitted Barbour long tee. My conclusion is that yesterday's outfit didn't work because the top was loose and not fitted and the trousers were flared and that this doesn't work when you're 5'2" if I stand on my tiptoes

Quiet night in for us. Dh got back from New York this morning and went straight to his office. He's put in a full day. nutter

shopafrolic · 06/11/2015 22:30

Feel better soon. Happy birthday Viva Wine

Drywhitethanks · 06/11/2015 23:28

Viva Happy Birthday to you Flowers

Lost a long post last night....gah!

Fedup MNV coach trip to my house? Grin come tomorrow I've made loads of cakes for my guests and have the most enormous pork shoulder for pulled pork and prosecco in the fridgeWink there's plenty for extra visitors.

Blair you must be really poorly to leave parcels unopened for so long.

Shop and linus how did your birthdays go?

VivaVegas · 07/11/2015 08:50

Thanks for your kind birthday wishes, had a lovely evening thank you.
Just DC activities and a spot of decorating today so no S&B going on here. Off to see Bond tonight so looking forward to that.
I might have braved the next MU as I've been on here a bit longer now but can't do that weekend as DH is working, maybe next time.
Question for those of you that straighten your hair, what do you use to stop if going frizzy now the weather is quite damp? Nearly out of current product and that's not working so need something that gives a better barrier. Any suggestions welcome.
Enjoy your weekends everyone.

MarshaBrady · 07/11/2015 10:51

Viva it would be great if you can join us for a mu!

We're talking about a Christmas holiday. Dh is keen on New York. Is there somewhere better?

MarshaBrady · 07/11/2015 10:56

My first thought was somewhere warm / hot. Which would you prefer? icy NYC or hot somewhere

Longislandicetee · 07/11/2015 11:45

Morning! Marsha if I was going to go to new York the best time is between thanksgiving and Christmas. It's so beautiful, lots to do and see. I am a cold bod though so all holidays have to be somewhere warm!Grin

Viva definitely try and come to a future. One of the scariest and best decisions of my life. My life has been so enriched by all the new friends I have made in the last 3.5 years.Smile

VivaVegas · 07/11/2015 12:28

Marsha we are considering NY for next October so it would get my vote, but if not do you ski, Or would you like to? A lovely chalet in the Alps would be lovely at Christmas, albeit very expensive.
Would love to get to a MU but it needs to be on a weekend DH isn't working as its a bit of a trek for me and don't really have anyone else who could have the DC all day.

MarshaBrady · 07/11/2015 12:45

Thanks Viva and Blingy Not great at skiing - so beach or NY.

I'd love NYC just before Chtistmas but after I'd prefer hot.

Blingy I absolutely agree with that - mu and life-enriching friends Thanks

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/11/2015 14:16

oh yes viva do try and get to a mu. you won't regret it, everyone is so lovely and kind. i was terrified at the one i went to but everyone was so welcoming and kind to me, it ended up being a fabulous day and i couldnt have asked for better people to spend it with

Longislandicetee · 07/11/2015 16:54

Just been in Prada, Hermes, Tiffany and LV. Just rolled back the years Grin

MNV Vol 64
KittyHello · 07/11/2015 17:02

Did you buy anything Bling?

Marsha I'd go for some winter sun, always crave sun when the weather gets cooler.

Viva I've only been to one MU and I can vouch that the ladies are really lovely, if you can make one it would be lovely to meet you.

Topazandpearl · 07/11/2015 17:16

Sorry I am late with birthday wishes Viva. Enjoy the rest of your birthday weekend. I would also like to encourage you to come to a mu. It is scary at first but you soon discover that you are not meeting strangers, just putting faces to friends you already have.

Thank you QueenC for the Jaeger info, off for a browse now.

FedupNagging · 07/11/2015 17:49

A Christmas holiday sounds lovely Marsha - I'd go for somewhere hot!

Blingy sounds like you have had a fab day and that glass of fizz looks very tempting.

We had a long power cut today so had to leave the house without using the straighteners Shock Shock Shock. I wouldn't have minded if I was just pottering about but was meeting friends in a lovely coffee shop. which I'd forgotten about with 5 minutes to go Blush

I then fell over in a big muddy puddle whilst walking the dog this afternoon so obviously am looking gorgeous atm Grin

Viva yes, come to the MU if you can - they're great fun and everyone is so lovely.

I am just about to jump in the shower and then its pj's, wine and sofa surfing all evening. Bliss Smile

shopafrolic · 07/11/2015 20:53

Love NYC at Christmas but that's more because of childhood memories. Cold though.
Viva do come. Best decision of my life apart from marrying DH Grin

KittyHello · 07/11/2015 21:57

Does anyone have a discount code for Mytheresa?

Drywhitethanks · 08/11/2015 00:21

Id go for proper snow Marsha

Viva I'll second everything said about MUs. My 'virtual' friends are now real friends, love it here. Have met some extraordinary women. Proud to know them and share things I often can't IRL. Not scary at all once the prosecco gets flowing, which is early onGrin I travel from afar to go to them sound like one of the Three Wise Men.....have had a fair amount of champagne

3kg pulled pork demolished in one sitting....am worried my beef casserole tomorrow may be too small, will make lots of rice/mash............

maradesbois · 08/11/2015 10:26

Morning!

Blair how are you feeling now?

Blingy love your champagne pic, tell us more about your day Smile

Marsha NY plus sun would be amazing but I'd happily do either.

Fedup sorry but I did laugh at your bad morning re straighteners and falling in puddle. Hope today goes better!

Viva belated birthday wishes Flowers. Do try and come to a future mu, for me it adds another dimension to the thread. Everyone is lovely.

I had a moment of gushy reflection on course trip last week about how we Voguettes all get on, I really see many people on the thread as proper friends I can count on. Pretty amazing as the only common thread that links us is interest in fashion. On the course we have common thread of interest in the subject but relationships not the same at all. Have met quite a few great people but also lots of immaturity, pettiness, competitiveness etc. I know can't really compare the two groups but still think it's fantastic how well we gel. Hugs to all!

Getting back to practicalities have a couple of purchases to report:

Pink smythson laptop case - half price in sale. Was hesitating between brown and pink when a dad shopping with his dc intervened to push for pink saying brown was boring so I threw caution to the wind Grin.

Also got grey cashmere Loro Piana scarf, so soft and lovely.

Topazandpearl · 08/11/2015 11:12

Love the dad intervention mara Grin. Your purchases sound lovely.

I think it is more than an interest in fashion that binds us together. I think that anyone who didn't have the same approach to fashion/friendships/life in general might not hang around on here so much. Not saying that we are all the same by any means; there is a range of ages, family circumstances, styles, budget, lifestyle etc, but everyone here is welcomed with friendship.

Will stop getting maudlin now. Enjoy Sunday.

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2015 12:30

Totally agree re MUs - nothing to be nervous about, we're all lovely ;)

Having our floor replaced today, so no fashion news to report - I'm in sweats (and trainers as have broken my toe, sigh).

The cat has also got himself stung by a bee, the fool.

KittyHello · 08/11/2015 14:12

Viva have all these posts convinced you to come to a MU yet? They are all very true btw.

Amber poor cat.

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2015 15:34

He has a very swollen face and looks pretty sorry for himself. Memo - don't try and eat a bee. He's four months now, he should stop doing stupid stuff soon, right?!

Have just ordered this dress for Xmas parties etc. Tried it on Friday and loved it - it is definitely red, no idea why it says pink - the velvet makes it feel v luxe.

QueenCardi · 08/11/2015 16:49

Hello all. Ive had a fabulous weekend and feel truly blessed to have such wonderful friends. Continuing the gushy theme I also feel truly blessed having met you guys.

Anyway, I'm going for my usual Sunday browse...
