"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

How did I miss the MU invite? Am i invited? Hmm

AmberNectarine · 05/11/2015 08:43

No, you can't come Wink

Wouldn't be the same without you shop!

I'm still sad that we're not doing Xmas cocktails Sad. Especially now I have a pretty new sparkly dress to wear. I'm ignoring the 58 Xmas events I'm attending because those people won't appreciate it like you lot!

MarshaBrady · 05/11/2015 09:05

Agree I want to meet you guys before Christmas in my Marant dress.

Love that we have a mu on the cards in Jan, well played Lib yes Shop come

Can we do something pre Christmas? Too hard? Sad

FedupNagging · 05/11/2015 09:33

Oh, are we organising a coach party to visit Dry? How exciting Grin Wink.

Am disappointed that the Mint Velvet blouse is oos in a smaller size - it took me ages to find one I really liked.

On a plus note I picked up a pair of Helmut Lang black skinnies yesterday in TK - a bit big on the waist so will try on with a belt today - hopefully they will be fine.

Am really looking forward to the MU outfit panic has already started it will be the perfect after Christmas/January blues tonic.

For One

How gorgeous is the colour of this bag?

this but sadly out of my price range

I might put
This
and
This on my christmas wish list.

Actually I also really like this bag too

Hi all. A pre-Xmas MU would be fun! But there aren't many dates left...

I'm off work again... prior to 2 weeks ago I hadn't had a sick day in over 5 years :( I have flu. I've never felt so ugh in my life. I'm sitting here sweating and aching, yesterday it was the shivers followed by the best bath ever (and I don't do baths). I've had 2 horrible colds in the last 2 months and now this, so I'm worrying a bit - I'm not running myself ragged or anything, quite the opposite having already been ill, so don't know what's brought it all on.

H&M Balmain is obviously a fail, I don't know how people can even get on the site to shop, but I bet it's all gone!

QueenCardi · 05/11/2015 10:43

Just popping in wuickly as a 1001 things to do.

I'm still free december 12th if I can convince Dh to let me go to London.......

libertydoddle · 05/11/2015 10:51

Poor you Blair. Flu is horrible. Unfortunately a run of viruses can knock you out a bit. Once you feel better it might be worth getting a flu jab.

shop my darling it wouldn't be an MU without you. You were invited!

I would love a pre Xmas MU but I have so few dates available me and my jetstting lifestyle which is why I decided to get one in for Jan (I am away for whole of Feb and part of March too).

What about evening MU on Monday 21st Dec?

libertydoddle · 05/11/2015 10:52

Cross post QueenC. I can't do 12th but as I said before my dates in December are so limited it's best to organise without me.

Stokey · 05/11/2015 13:35

Flowers Blair, I've been getting loads of colds too - it sucks. Nurofen cold & flu are best pills I've found, or Night nurse (i just take one) if you can't sleep.

I also seem to have missed MU - think I can do 23 Jan, although someone has asked me to look after a child one weekend in Jan & can't remember which weekend. I definitely can't do 11-12 Dec but may be able to do 17th or 5th?

Longislandicetee · 05/11/2015 20:38

Poor Blair and Stokey.ThanksBrewhope you are both snuggled up and warm this evening.

FedUp, loved your bag links, though the one out of your price didn't link properly. I thought the Ted Baker bag looked utterly gorgeous. Sigh.

Ootd just didn't work today. On paper it looked good. In practice? No. just no. Sad I had a strategy day and so we weren't in the office and I decided to do business casual. I wore this top in beige with black skinny flares from warehouse. Shoes were LK Bennett ankle boots and bag was black Pashli, coat was this M&S mac. I seem to get it very wrong sometimes when I dress down!Sad sipping wine to cheer myself up.Wink

libertydoddle · 05/11/2015 21:15

Hmmmn, I think we need a picture Blingy. As you say that outfit on paper sounds good so not getting why it didn't work for you.

Fedup I was on the phone earlier so have only looked at links properly now. The Ted Baker bag is lovely and I like 2 Fossil bags too.

I went into Other Stories today to resolve the dress itch! It's this one. Tried at again and decided against as (a) the colour isn't right and (b) the arms are very long and the rib stitch makes them very warm. I hate getting too hot so I just felt it would be one of those things I'd put on at 7am and be taking off again at 10am.

While I was in there I tried on this dress. Absolutely perfect length, colour and shape but the arms were too tight Confused. So frustrating. I have found that a few times in there with arms.

And can someone please buy this sweater? It is seriously gorgeous and feels and looks amazing quality. I quite liked this one too.

QueenC I saw the olive green version of your velvet front sweater in Jigsaw - so lovely. I am seriously considering it to wear with the M&S leather skirt for lunches out etc over Christmas. It is a bit pricy though so going to debate it for a few more days.

BTW Linus thanks for the tip off about the bronze sweater in H&M. I saw it the other day ans liked it but it's a bit longer than I'd like although it might work tucked in so may get it if I don't find anything else.

QueenCardi · 05/11/2015 21:36

Just been trying to catch up.
blair hope you feel better
lib shame the Orange dress didn't work as its lovely. Love the star sweater and would buy if it was silver stars!
fedup love fossil bags
blingy it'll be the damn flares that didn't work. Can you tell I'm annoyed with mine. They just don't look how I want them and I feel dated in them.

Anyone got plans for the weekend? We've got a houseful of people coming to stay which should be good.

FedupNagging · 05/11/2015 22:12

Bag link that didnt work

Blingy its a real shame when an outfit doesn't go together and then you're ever so slightly self concious the whole time.

Queen I love my flares but actually there are only a couple of pairs of shoes that actually look great with them 9ash platform pumps and flip flops!) so am a bit limited but now wondering if I'm looking dated Hmm

Love the star jumper Lib. The orange dress is gorgeous so shame it didn't fit properly.

I've not had a Saturday night in for ages so really looking forward to this weekend. Dh is away and apart from a couple of daytime things, I have nothing planned but pj's on by 6, wine opened by 6.05 and Strictly.

Topazandpearl · 05/11/2015 22:33

That is gorgeous fedup. I also really like the Ted Baker and the first of the Fossil ones. Your weekend plans sound good, nothing like pjs, wine and comfort TV. Dd will be home this weekend and so will want feeding-up, so lots of nice meals. I have some work to do, but otherwise will be starting to celebrate my birthday (Mon) early while Dd is home.
Love that jumper Lib. Shame the dresses didn't work out.
Blair, stokey hope you get over the lurgies and feel better soon.
Blingy your outfit sounds lovely, so I can't imagine why it didn't work, but agree that it throws you for the day when that happens.

MarshaBrady · 06/11/2015 10:26

Morning. The new JL ad for Christmas is really good, makes up for Mulberry one. I usually get annoyed at the whole Christmas ad thing that happens but it really is very sweet and a tearjerker

VivaVegas · 06/11/2015 10:29

Final MNV birthday of the week. Sadly working but off out for drinks and dinner later so looking forward to that!

MarshaBrady · 06/11/2015 10:32

Viva happy birthday! Thanks Cake [fizz] Cake have a lovely night out!

KittyHello · 06/11/2015 11:35

Happy birthday Viva hope you had a great time tonight Wine Cake

Blingy it's maddening when an outfit doesn't work isn't? I too am having trouble styling my flares in winter.

Fedup you've been wearing your flares recently haven't you? What footwear have you been wearing them with? Heels or flats? Also has that collar thing from Cos arrived yet? i have a few of them and wear them under my Tippis to break up the block of colour. I like both of those Cos ones.

Been a bit AWOL on here, have upped my hours at work so have less MNV time but on the upside more money to spend on clothes Grin still trying to buy less but better, so I'm being really boring and haven't bought much.

Went away last weekend and saw a lot of women wearing slouchy ish cross body bags so now I want one. Not too structured and big enough to hold purse, phone, keys and other rubbish I carry around. Ideally I want black or grey, quelle surprise!

bit like this but a bit smaller

The search continues.......

Rain here so am wearing my a/w uniform of skinnies, Tippi and Pistols.

QueenCardi · 06/11/2015 13:27

Just popping in to say that there is a fab flash sale on the jaegar outlet site. I just bought the navy dress I already have in bright blue for £39 and a summer version for £21.

fedup I'm sure you look great in your flares. I'm not sure what it is with mine, think they need a higher heel othetwise I look a bit dumpy (I may be average height but I have short legs) but I wanted them for day not night. I think in the summer I'll get them turned up to become cropped flares which seem to suit me better.

vegas happy birthday Cake Wine

libertydoddle · 06/11/2015 14:00

Happy birthday Vegas Cake Cake Wine Wine

Stokey · 06/11/2015 14:05

Happy birthday Vegas, have a fab evening.

Maybe it's the beige Blingy? It's definitely a colour I struggle with, just a bit meh.

I need to take oversized cardie back to &OS on Monday Lib so will check out the jumper - although have already over-bought knitwear this winter!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/11/2015 16:45

Happy birthday Viva! Flowers Cake Meh to work, but hope you have a fab night, it's great having a weekend birthday.

Stokey oh no, not just me then, hope you feel better!

Love the star jumper Lib, I looked at the dress version but the jumper is probably more versatile. I really resent their delivery charge though.

Blingy I thought maybe the beige was the problem too, in my head you always wear lovely bright things.

This is how ill I am: I have an unopened parcel! My jaeger knitwear delivery has been sitting in my hall for 2 days. In all seriousness though, I still feel horrendous. Today it is that I am hot. I've asked DH to buy a thermometer of course being childless we don't own such a thing. I woke up at 1.30pm. I feel disgusting :(

KittyHello · 06/11/2015 16:56

Blair sorry to hear you're still poorly Flowers hope you get well soon.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/11/2015 16:57

Thanks for the Jaeger heads up QueenC - saw this and thought of Lib :)

VivaVegas · 06/11/2015 17:11

Thanks all, starting early wearing my new Whistles boots that DH agreed to buy for my birthday after if got them!
