"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

Dry - glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with boots ishoos Wink

Just returned from a very boozy prosecco fuelled night. We left at 6.30pm expecting to be home at 10pm. Whoops!

Marsha I could see you in sharp tailored trousers, shirt & neat knit for workwear. I think either ankle skimming cigarette style or something similar to the Marant Kalla trousers.

Ujjayi · 11/10/2015 01:18

Blair - have a wonderful time in Amsterdam. It's one of my favourite cities: DH was born there, we got engaged there & DBIL & DSIL still live there. They got married in the Oudekerk which is a lovely place to visit. The Begijnhof is also really peaceful & real sanctuary from the intensity of the city. Will have a chat with DBIL tomorrow & ask for restaurant recommendations etc.

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 07:24

blair have fun. I'd love to go to Amsterdam.
Had a fab night. Wore my denim dress rather than my black one as I felt too fat in it. I got complimented and told that I have really nice clothes Smile

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 07:27

for dry and bling

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 07:47

trousers for marsha

Longislandicetee · 11/10/2015 07:55

Have a lovely time Blair!

Great to hear everybody had such nice evenings outSmile

Marsha it's so nice that you're enjoying this job so much and the travel! Belinda's workwear edit might give you some inspiration, it's a great website, though she focuses on high street work wear. I guess if you wanted to spend more, you might look at top end of high street, mid range or outnet. The shoes you linked are lovely though I already have 2 animal print flats!

Lib sorry to hear the Alex Monroe didn't work out for you. I see people rave about it on S&B though have to admit to not getting it!Blush

Yesterday I wore my new Marc by Marc Jacobs leather bracelet and absolutely love it. I paid £40 for it and love it as much as my much more expensive Givenchy one!

I also bought 2 new bags last week. 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli which I already own a large red version. I always said that I should have got a the medium black version (especially after I saw Shop's grey one) so I decided to scratch the itch. I also got this Michael Kors jetset which I already own a medium black version of, and use it when I am with the kids on the weekend. I got the large version as I wish I had had one when we went on holiday.

Right, waiting for QueenC's links now!Grin

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 07:57

ha ha ha

Not really feeling the love this morning for much. Not sure if it's a genuine problem of no nice clothes around or just my hangover Grin

Longislandicetee · 11/10/2015 08:02

That jacket is lovely! Those mules are something elseGrinhangover be gone!

Topazandpearl · 11/10/2015 08:35

Hello all, hope everyone is well (sneaks onto thread). Sorry for being awoke for so long - house move, crises at work (coming right now, thank goodness), DCs coming and going all have meant little time for mn. No hope of catching up so will start from here.

Loving the new house and we are full of ideas for it. Will I be kicked off MNV if I say I find myself turning to the Home supplement before ST Style at the moment? There is a link because we are currently researching fitted wardrobes, will probably go with a local firm rather than one of the national chains. Any tips from voguettes who have had them (Dry?)

No new fashion news but have not been feeling the lack of it, probably because of all of the above but also because I am happy with my wardrobe from last year. Will probably find some gaps as the weather gets colder though.

Anyway, it is lovely to be back here. Happy Sunday everyone (enjoy Amsterdam Blair).

Drywhitethanks · 11/10/2015 08:59

Topaz welcome back, sounds as if you've been very busy. New house and wardrobes are very exciting! Re fitted wardrobes.......I just got as many as I could Grin. I measured my existing hanging meterage then thought really carefully about how much/what heights I'd need. Think drawers and shelves too. Where I have high hanging (trs and dresses) I had shelves put on top for bags etc. Also tie/scarf/belt bar thingies on the inside of as many doors as poss, v useful. Mirrors on some doors that I can open and position so I can see back view IYKWIM.

Marsha I love the pin outfit with herled ankle boots, I could really see you dressed like that, and am I right to think that you don't need formal corporate type work stuff?

Drywhitethanks · 11/10/2015 09:01

Oh, and sounds as if everyone had great nights out.

Anyone seen a burgundy silk shirt around?

Blair I really fancy going to Amsterdam. Sounds fab

AmberNectarine · 11/10/2015 09:04

Nice bags blingy - have been using my MK jetset and big Pashli a lot for work to throw laptop and papers in and then having small crossbody (Chanel/Valentino/Gucci/Balenciaga) for essentials. Saves having to drag big bag out for meetings/lunches etc.

Big work event tomorrow - have decided I need a new dress!

AmberNectarine · 11/10/2015 09:07

dry if you find one, hit me up. I loved wearing my equipment shirt last night, has made me think I need to invest in a couple of plain ones for work (I have two leopard print and one zebra!)

Also forgot to link this which I ordered, to be worn with my high waisted VW navy pencil skirt.

LinusLovesBretons · 11/10/2015 09:35

Morning!

Sounds like many people had a great time last night?!

marsha I can really see you in cigarette trousers and a thin cashmere top or simple shirt à la Capucine for work. Maybe look at Acne, A.P.C. and Vanessa Bruno on the Outnet etc

I loved those leopard heels btw and would really consider them if I had more of a social life.

amber I have three plain equipment shirts and I feel like a million dollars in them, even worn with jeans.

topaz welcome back!

blingy we should call you HandbagQueen with your ever growing handbag collection.

Wink
MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 10:20

Morning. Love the work wear suggestions thanks Thanks. Only problem is I'd have to go into town today to shop, I avoid in store shopping on the weekends these days. Could do premier delivery from somewhere.

Linus those leopard shoes would look amazing on you.

MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 10:22

I think I'd rather stick to the labels I like just so I love it more - so Marant, APC etc all sound fab

Ujjayi · 11/10/2015 11:14

Welcome back Topaz. Love hearing about interiors projects & it's exciting to be starting somewhere new.

Marsha those boots in your pin are exactly what I have in mind for evenings/smart lunches or days where I'm not required to walk very far. Let me know if you find anything that fits the bill. And yes to Marant for workwear for you. Her ruched skirts would be perfect.

Feeling a bit ..erm ...tired today! Need to take youngest DS shoe shopping. He is very style conscious which makes it fun but a little stressful if he can't find exactly what he wants.

Seriously tempted by a Wool Rich parka this winter. I had a quick look at the selection in my local boutique yesterday & they look so cosy.

OOTD is H&M plaid shirt (total IM wannabe Grin ) with CoH Ava's & white leather converse. Will put on brown waxed biker when I go out.

Have a great sunday!

MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 11:19

Dry yes not too corporate. When no go kirby meetings I can do jeans and jumpers as I would if home. But in meetings I'm yet to buy a single outfit that is not the Burberry pants. And I'm sick of them now, nearly.

I always skipped buying the stuff as I secretly tonight I wouldn't be at work for a very long time. Still thinking about a break after this contract but there's lots of international meetings and I'll get bored in the same outfit.

Ujj will do

Welcome back Topaz!

MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 11:23

Crikey no idea what I was typing there - when not going to meetings, which is bizarrely (for me in comparison to old jobs) a lot of the time as 90% clients o/s

MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 11:47

Ujj I wonder if these Gianvito Rossi boots are the ones in the pic. Not that I'm buying them however! Definitely a sale item only, if that.

Longislandicetee · 11/10/2015 12:03

Welcome back Topaz!
Marsha I would love to be able to do edgy smart casual workwear! I will live vicariously through you! Those boots are lovely and in my ideal heel height range. fingers off the one click button

Ootd is animal print. This Warehouse top (such a great bargain and looks great on) with black j crew toothpick jeans (spray on skinnies you can't wear on a fat day!). When I went out earlier I also wore these RB Charming animal print ballet flats and Levi peplum puffer jacket. Bling is oynx and gold necklace that dm had made for me a few years ago and this ring and a beautiful gold hipanema bracelet that the wonderful Lib gave to me as a present a couple of months ago. I always say that I am an emotional bling wearer and so every time I have flicked my eyes on it, I have felt very luck that I made have made so many new and lovely friends on MNV.Thanks

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/10/2015 12:38

blingy i gravitate towards jewellery other people have bought me. every necklace i'm wearing plus my rings which i never take off and my bracelet that i never take off, have all been bought by someone for me. They give me a happy space when things are stressful

OOTD is very basic, burgundy skinnies, grey and white Marvel baseball tee, currently harry potter slippers but will change for suede boots when i go out in a little while

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 12:50

Had to do something with the kids but I'm back....

this is nausea inducing in my present hungover state Grin

QueenCardi · 11/10/2015 12:53

too fussy/girly marsha?

MarshaBrady · 11/10/2015 12:53

Meant to say, I really like the Marant Etoile pants QueenC. Although I always find black tricky, ie what to wear on top
