"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

Ha, i really like that linus I wonder if Dp can be persuaded to get it me for my Christmas stocking?!

Had a bit of low mood day today, I feel just a bit wiped out i think, its end of term and I always seem to be ill and a bit low for the first few days of the holidays. I have a lot to be doing through next week though so I need to find some motivation from somewhere, i think a few days visiting dp will bring me right again Smile

HappyGirlNow · 23/10/2015 21:01

Love that nail colour fedup

FedupNagging · 23/10/2015 21:04

Ugh, my topcoat has gone very sticky - I use seche vite as its really long lasting on the nails but in the bottle not so much. I only buy the small bottles but even they go sticky quickly.

It looks like everyone is out on the razz tonight - it's just us then Linus and One!

I hope you have a good rest at Dp's One and come home feeling refreshed.

Does anyone have any tips for reinvigorating a fancy dress wig? I have dug out my witches britches in preparation for a party next Sat but the wig is looking a bit dodgy - although I guess witches are not meant to be particularly well groomed ponders adding a large wart to face

LinusLovesBretons · 23/10/2015 21:10

Yes, Seche Vite goes gloopy quite quickly which is a pain as I can't buy it here so have to stock up when I'm in the UK.

DS is a bit freaked out by Halloween so when I wanted to try on a mask today he practically dragged me out of the shop.

shopafrolic · 23/10/2015 21:12

Raf article
Linus will find you a link hang on

shopafrolic · 23/10/2015 21:15

ash
A bit nervous about the kitchen. We don't have a large space. Because our building is listed and uneven walls and floors etc we are using mixed work tops, some silestone and some oak. Hope it all ties together.

libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 21:26

shop it sounds fab!

shopafrolic · 23/10/2015 21:28

Will have to have a chat about it Lib since you are one of the view who have been in it. It means we can then knock down the outbuilding and landscape the garden in the spring to make more use of the space...

libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 21:30

fedup maybe hang the wig it the bathroom while having a shower and see if steam helps?

one totally normal to feel a bit down and tired when you hit a rest period after being so busy. Go easy on yourself.

Drinking Wine here too. Has been a long week.

libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 21:32

shop Your garden will be huge without the shed. I think your kitchen is lovely anyway - you have great taste. I am certain the new look will be great.

LinusLovesBretons · 23/10/2015 21:38

Thanks for the link shop! Will see if I can try them on IRL.

libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 21:39

And aa few bra questions... I need to restock, all my bras looking a bit worse for wear. What are your favourite brands and styles? And how many do you think are needed?

shopafrolic · 23/10/2015 21:44

I wear Freya Lib but am in desperate need of some new ones. I always find it hard to justify the spend...

QueenCardi · 23/10/2015 21:47

lib I have 4 bras, 2 black and 2 nude on rotation. Love panache superbra.

FedupNagging · 23/10/2015 21:54

Thanks Lib will try that. Re underwear I generally wear m&s matching sets - Balcony bras being my favourite. Also have some CK, Freya and JL. I also go for slightly bigger knickers/shorts Blush. I don't care how sexy thongs are, they are just not comfy!!

A new kitchen sounds fab Shop but updating a period property is usually not that straight forward. I live in a new house so have no experience of this not helpful in the least but have friends who live in listed buildings/very old houses, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

Am pondering what to wear tomorrow night - going to a party in an hotel and definitely wearing silver grey sparkly 3/4 trousers from Boden and Zara black pleated top/cami (last season and can't find pic). After all this talk of sparkly shoes I am thinking of wearing either Dune silver sparkly sandals or a pair of sequin covered purple pointy stilettos (years old from TK but oh so gorgeous) - too much sparkle do you think? Other option is black rockstud a likes from Sam Edelman (which I love, love, love)

FedupNagging · 23/10/2015 21:58

Ha ha Shop I'm with you on the money spent on underwear!

OP posts:
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 23/10/2015 22:06

Underwear was always one place i'd spend. Cheap bras etc just never fit so I would spend more on them to get a good fit. I favoured freya myself and I always bought the bigger style pants as I just absolutely dislike thongs and always found them hugely uncomfortable whenever i did try wearing them. Nothing at all sexy about feeling uncomfortable IMO. Now though, I can't even wear a proper underwired bra for more than an hour or two as my skin has become so over-sensitive that i end up with huge sores so I tend to wearing soft crop tops now and nothing but plain cotton pants as anything else gives me sores. Doesn't do much for making me feel nice or dare i say it, sexy, and I would never let DP see me in them but needs must. I try to at least buy them in nice colours but it's been a blow tbh as I always favoured pretty matching sets before.

libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 22:15

Yes I hate spending on them too! I have 5 on rotation atm and all need replacing Sad. Currently have panache and Elle McPherson. Will check out Freya.

fedup sparkly shoes plus sparkly trousers might be too much. The SE rockstud alikes are fab IMO.

one where do you get your crop tops? Sounds good for lounging/ wfh / period days.

FedupNagging · 23/10/2015 22:27

Yes, you're right Lib I think it will be too much sparkle. Will save the purple shoes for a Xmas do.

So, I guess a sparkly evening bag is out of the question? Wink Grin

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 23/10/2015 22:51

Hmmmm I think you could do a sparkly bag actually. It's not on all the time the way shoes are. Post a pic or links - need to see them to judge properly Smile

libertydoddle · 24/10/2015 12:13

M&S leather skirt is a winner. Love, love, love. V excited about outfit possibilities.

shopafrolic · 24/10/2015 12:19

OOoooo fab Lib
Quiet on here today
Just been for a drizzly walk with DS and the dog so he could test out his new Geox boots - he's very impressed that he can climb muddy slopes....

AmberNectarine · 24/10/2015 12:52

I only wear thongs - I find them really comfy!

onedogatoddlerandababy · 24/10/2015 13:45

Good news about the skirt Lib

I placed my order with M&S for jumpers last night and have had an email cancelling one as size oos. Fingers crossed other size fits ok.

Returned my badly bobbled cashmere jumper to GAP without much difficulty - they did try to blag it as just the way cashmere is, but I blithered a bit about sale of goods & reasonable quality and they offered the refund.

FedupNagging · 24/10/2015 14:44

Really pleased the M&S skirt is a keeper Lib.

Well done GAP on giving a refund for substandard quality - Matches take note.

Cold and wet here - got soaked when I took the dog out earlier. Think I will jump in the bath soon to warm up!

Looking forward to this evenings party - have decided on black shoes and sparkly bag and since I actually have time today, will stick hair in rollers for a more groomed look never works but I keep trying
