What do you mean Hatty? I'm here...

hattymattie · 27/08/2015 21:26

Hi Giddy - MN have disabled the Android App so people can only get in on desktop. Took me a while to find my way back as I'm on a tablet normally.

Blackduck · 27/08/2015 21:32

BHS - I always wonder who shops in BHS and how they keep going - it's up there with the big mysteries of our time :)

motherinferior · 27/08/2015 21:56

It's all the apps, I think!

We are back from what wasn't actually too hot at all, thanks to those clever Moorish designers. A lovely woman let us through even though I didn't have the Inferiorettes' passports which I was supposed to have for their discount tickets (a well-timed tearful plea and fulsome thanks did the trickWink) and it was amazing. I've seen some beautiful places - and indeed been to the Alhambra before - but this time I literally gasped when we got into the palace and burst into tearsBlush.

And yes we stopped at the swanky hotel for a drink.

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2015 06:55

Well, BD, the BHS on Oxford St was really busy yesterday! And the lovely (and very young) man behind the till jumped out raced out the door and down Oxford St after a customer who had left their card behind - even DS was impressed!

That's strange Hatty, I was on the Android app fine last night and it's working this morningConfused

Glad you got a bit of culcha MIWink

DS is off today - going up to DPILs caravan for the weekend, with DBIL. So, crepeys, we are DC freeWineCake!

hattymattie · 28/08/2015 07:36

Weird BTM - I still can't get in through Android and there was a thread on it explaining things last night.

DD2 goes off to find out her new class for the final year of school today.

BeachysFlipFlops · 28/08/2015 08:06

Yeah, dd2 is home, not until after 10pm last night though.....She did look so tiny getting off the coach and she's come back with the same stinking cold I've got. Lots of TLC for the next couple of days.....

Ds has lost the letter saying which class he's in next year, so he will just get off the bus on the first day and make enquiries! I guess because he only went there last term, none of the tutor names registered Confused

Got ddad's follow up meeting today to find out if his lump was cancerous and if so, what they want to cut out next. He's not keen, unsurprisingly.

wordassociationfootball · 28/08/2015 08:15

DD1, 13, has been throwing away her childhood this week Sad. I have not been involved at all but took the bin liners to the tip yesterday and the man was very understanding when I said I wasn't going to sort through them or even open them as I might have an emotional breakdown Grin

This turned out to be a bad idea as she has thrown away her passport Angry

wordassociationfootball · 28/08/2015 08:16

Sorry Beachy, crass of me. Good luck to your DDad.

motherinferior · 28/08/2015 08:19

Good luck MrB.

BTM. the app's supposed to be disabled - see thread - might be a good idea to let HQ know?

Oh WAF!

CointreauVersial · 28/08/2015 08:19

Aah, you're all here. I had given up on the Android app, thinking it was my tablet playing up.

Anyway, we're in Enkhuizen, in North Holland. Super-friendly and very pretty, but oh, the rain yesterday. On reflection, an open air museum wasn't the best choice of activity; once again, my offspring were woefully underprepared for the drenching. It was funny, though - you know, when things get so bad you just have to laugh.... The hotel is very luxurious, with whirlpool baths and huge beds, and we went out for a lovely pizza yesterday night. Only when we finished the meal did we find out it was cash only, and we had none, so the owner lent DH his bike to cycle to the nearest cashpoint!

Off to Centerparcs today - the forecast is scorchio for the weekend, thank goodness.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/08/2015 08:21

Yes, good luck to your DDad Beachy.

Hoorah for the long weekend.

OP posts:
MontserratCaballe · 28/08/2015 08:30

Hope it goes well for your dad, Beachy. Must be fab to have DD home.

WAF, I would have a complete collapse at dd getting rid of all the trappings of being a little girl. Sorry about the passport.

BTM, woo for no children.

MI, I love the Alhambra. It is really moving, isn't it? Are you going to go to Córdoba this holiday as well? Hanging by the pool probably more relaxing, though. When are you back ?

Thanks for all the support and kind comments yesterday. I really appreciate them and you have given me lots of ideas how to tackle the situation without making it into an ishoo. I feel sad about how many of us were on the sharp end of unkind comments about our weight though. Mrs S, the girdle thing is truly horrific. Poor you. What a shocking thing to say to a 9 year old.

Rose, will pm you now.

Lovely weather today for our last day. Lots of packing etc to do but will save that for tonight and have a day in the sun first. Hope that herbs has sun, as well as everyone at home. A sunny bank hol weekend could be in the offing SmileWine

BeachysFlipFlops · 28/08/2015 08:31

Oh not at all waf, it was a tiny skin lesion, that isn't going to spread anywhere at all. Just if it is cancerous, he'll have to have another chunk of eyelid taken away and when they cover up his good eye (relative term!), it makes his mobility a bit less.

CV, Centreparcs Wink. I love Holland and the Dutch, massive generalisation I know, but I think it's the only non-UK European place I could try to live....

MontserratCaballe · 28/08/2015 08:31

Actually Rose, prob better to message you via FB if that's ok.

Cremo · 28/08/2015 08:55

Morning hags,
Mrs S that is truly vile re the girdle. I was called the Sugar Plump Fairy after my diabetes diagnosis at 12 as my weight expanded afterwards. No room for sympathy in our house either.
Beachy, glad that dd home in one piece, and sorry she's got the cold. Hope poor thing feels better before school, and she is able to regale you with stories of her travels. Hope also they get your ddad sorted. Poor soul.
MI , my abiding memory of the Alhambra was of it floating in the waves of heat in the distance. I recall wandering in the beautiful gardens with my exchange family
And it being the kind of heat you could cut through.

Not so hot here, but a respectable 28 degrees. I swam in the sea yesterday and in the pool this morning before breakfast . Get me!

Blackduck · 28/08/2015 09:07

Alhambra - so want to go.

Girdles and mum comments :( - mine wasn't like that at all......

Clothes suggestions - thanks!

Beachy fingers crossed for ddad and give DD a big hug from us all and tell her your on-line friends are mega impressed!

And Crepeys - I have an interview (woo hoo) Grin Grin........

Cremo · 28/08/2015 09:11

BD very well done. I have everything crossed for you.Flowers

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2015 10:24

CV, living the MN dream/nightmare in CenterParcs! We had a good hol there once, though the chalets were a bit Hitlers Bunker-ish. And yes, Holland is lovely - DGodD is thinking about going to uni thereSmile

Sunny day at last! Just had a quick catch up with a friend, am meeting up with another later and then out tonight with DH and friends. Clubbing, of course, as we are teen free!

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/08/2015 11:15

Oooh yes, well done BD! GrinGrinGrin

OP posts:
motherinferior · 28/08/2015 11:51

Yes, vv well done!

Last day here - pool and perhaps small jaunt later and dinner out. Cordoba will have to wait. I must put it on record that DP REALLY steps up to the plate when we are on hols and does the majority of the domestic stuff, too.

And next time there's one of those threads about how all kids in the 1970s were slim and unselfconscious we should stage an intervention. I spent my adolescence and early 20s absolutely convinced I was physically abnormal.

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2015 12:00

Missed that BD - well done!

Here DH is looking up places for us to go walking/stay for tomorrowShock

motherinferior · 28/08/2015 12:09

Not planning a 24/7 stay in the boudoir, then?

bigTillyMint · 28/08/2015 12:19
Grin

Well, as he's just realised it's a BH weekend, and everywhere is booked, we might be! Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/08/2015 12:29

I have a job interview too, but am having a huge wobble about it.
