You can tell us Crem. We will pat you and sympathise.

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2015 21:41

Oh MrsS that sounds very, very hopeful Wine!

CremoWine for you too.

And anyone else whose stress levels require it.

Grin at grounds for divorce!

Here we are watching Gogglebox and DS says that Mary Berry (it's GBBO) is wearing a road man's beltGrin He is very happy because he scored a goal (free kick from way back - he is a centre back) in the match tonight!

Blackduck · 11/09/2015 21:55

Yes Cremo spill - it will help..

hattymattie · 11/09/2015 22:05

Yay - I have my tablet back. Mrs S - sounds very hopeful about the interview and there does indeed seem plenty to eat at your place. For what it's worth I have never seen Coronation Street either as DFather, being a bit foreign, found it depressing and incomprehensible. I must be conditioned too as I find the music drab (and hate leopard skin tops).

herbaceous · 11/09/2015 22:47

Re Mary Berry, if she says 'lairs' once more instead of 'layers', I may not be responsible for my actions.

Mrs S, you have the job. I suggest you celebrate by never cooking for your ungrateful wretches of a family ever again.

Blackduck · 12/09/2015 07:40

MrsS I'm pretty sure you have it.

I am resigned to the fact I screwed up :(. I just don't sell myself well in interview.... I guess at least I have a job

Auriga · 12/09/2015 08:47

Who's marching? Shall we attempt a rendezvous?

Lalsy · 12/09/2015 09:21

Auriga, I am marching but briefly as dd goes back to university tomorrow so there is stuff to do. So I'd better not attempt to meet anyone, sadly.

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2015 09:36

Oh BDSad How could they not want you? They are fools and it is, of course, their loss.

Hope the march goes well. MI will be Spott able in her 1980s oversized rainbow jumperGrin

I am at St Pancras snarfing a cinnamon Danish and coffee before my train.

Auriga · 12/09/2015 09:57

BD, I do interview training for senior staff & am often amazed at the way good people under - sell themselves. One or two mock interviews with constructive feedback can turn it around. Worth a try?

Rosebag · 12/09/2015 09:58

DH is addicted to Corrie. Shall I divorce him on grounds of unreasonable behaviour? Grin

Sounds hopeful re job MrsS Less so with managing your lot's food demands. You are much too nice to them. Tell them in advance when you are Not Cooking.

All may not be lost BD If it doesn't work out, it's not the right job for you. The prefect one is out there waiting Flowers

I nearly put my foot through the TV in the last GBBO series with Mary and her "lairs." Has anyone notices that Mel has started to say it to. D'ya think she's taking the piss?

Good luck Tilly Are you going to see DM? I covet your Danish but have been good this morning, with dry fried eggs and cottage cheese (vile).

I am falling off the wagon diet- wise having pretty much maintained progress over the summer in spite of a few too many Sussex cream teas. I must not lose focus. DH and DS2 were at St Pancras earlier on to get a train to Nottingham for the Uni open day. I have been left with homework joys, a trip to Macro and making copious quantities of chicken soup.

Cholla is the most moreish bread in the planet, which is why I didn't have any this morning. DD has had three slices with lashings of butter.Envy

Rosebag · 12/09/2015 10:00

prefect? perfect!!!

herbaceous · 12/09/2015 11:00

BD Sad. There seems to be a lot of people who are totally shit but sell themselves well in interviews, and then stay in the job as it's too hard to get rid of them, and another lot who are really able and great and woefully undersell themselves. I am in the latter camp, also.

I wonder if a lot of it is a kind of 'assumed knowledge'. We know, inside ourselves, what we can do, and almost assume it's obvious to the interviewer. Whereas of course they don't know exactly what our previous jobs were like, what we did, and how brilliant our personalities are.

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2015 11:04

Rose I am on my way to meet uni friends for a girls weekend Smile And Stropps, I am reading Get Out of my Life Wink
Dry fried eggs and cottage cheese does sound vile, but cholla, mmmm! Good bread is my favourite foodBlush

herbaceous · 12/09/2015 12:16

Corbyn's only gone and bloody done it. Amazing.

Cremo · 12/09/2015 15:27

Herbs ! I CANT BLOODY BELIEVE IT.
Talk about selling yourself well........

I am in the complete doldrums re job. I am going to see about VR on Monday and then I'm going to jump into a dark hole and live like small useless little creature who has been run over by a truck. Oh and this is not post holiday blues. Of and yes, I am shit at selling myself and always will be. And I hurt after doing Pilates : bastard physio.Sad

herbaceous · 12/09/2015 15:36

I felt totes emosh when the result was announced.

Cremo - I think VR might be the way forward. As long as it's a reasonable wedge. Then you can escape the toxic atmosphere, regroup, and come out fighting.

Talking of jobs, I've seen one advertised that could be made for me - editing English Language training course materials. It needs someone with extensive experience of editorial (check), project management (check) and teaching English as foreign language (check-ish). It is well paid. However, it's a) full-time, which isn't what I wanted, and b) not teaching, which kind of defeats the object....

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/09/2015 20:26

Oh go for it Herbs, what do you have to lose? You can always turn it down when they offer it to you, if you have second thoughts.

I am meeting a very old friend of mine for drunks at 1100 tonight. This could be messy...

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 12/09/2015 20:27

drinks FFS. Though drunks will probably be more accurate.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 12/09/2015 20:58

11.00! Late start MrsS!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/09/2015 02:13

And just got home! She was with a new man. Shock Had no idea she had split up from her husband. New man is hot toy boy. ShockShockEnvy

OP posts:
BeachysFlipFlops · 13/09/2015 07:37

Is he only allowed out after dark? Or is he such a toy boy that he shinned down his drain pipe after his mum and dad had gone to bed? Smile

Blackduck · 13/09/2015 07:51

Beachy :) :)

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/09/2015 08:52

LOL - not that young, Beachy, but I would say definitely quite a big younger than her.

OP posts:
MrsSchadenfreude · 13/09/2015 09:08

Can I just add that with the "absolutely nothing to eat in this house" yesterday, I made a very nice Minestrone soup for lunch, with carrots, tomatoes (tinned and fresh), half a small cabbage, onion and garlic, herbs (including fresh basil), pasta and tinned flageolet beans. AIBU to think the rest of them have no imagination?
