I will be if I am not helping dd go back to university, perched atop a mountain of second-hand classics and cheap cider tinnies....

MontserratCaballe · 03/09/2015 05:53

BD and Crem, so sorry to hear work is still a pile of poo. Sending you strength.

MrsS, huge sympathies with DD's woes, as well as for annoying neighbour. I hope you can sort some counselling etc out for her and that she starts to feel more positive soon.

Rose, hurray for the home. Have texted you re next week. Is your brother usually the golden child? Dh's mother is always favouring the brother over DH, even when the brother hasn't really stepped up to the plate. So annoying and unfair. BTW, Linked In is such a crock. I enjoy laughing at former students who describe themselves as "future visionary" or similar, together with current colleagues whose listed experience bears no relation to their talents. It's often hilarious to see how pals describe themselves too. Still, at one point it cheered me hugely when it started suggesting that I link up with old boyfriends. It had a record of 5 in a week! I couldn't work out how it knew I had already linked up, so to speak.....

Good luck to all the returners. First day for us this morning. I am up rocking gently. Last day down the road with all 3, as DD will be off to pastures new next year. Ah me

I don't think I can make 12th alas due to child commitments but will come if I can.

MontserratCaballe · 03/09/2015 05:55

Stropps, sorry DD is giving you yet more grief. Thinking of you and sending strength Flowers

hattymattie · 03/09/2015 06:21

I would march if I was in London. Not sure what's happening in Paris. I am continually disgusted by the lack of coverage of this on the French TV news. We have had "the rentree" plus various national issues. Even Calais during Operation Stack barely got a mention and there is rarely headline international news. Then I switch to Channel 4 and it's as if the world is falling apart. Seriously, I get the impression there is a deliberate policy here not to panic the population along with a general dumbing down of news coverage. I made all the DC's watch Channel 4 last night which dedicated its first 20 minutes to the refugee crises.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2015 07:58

I will be away on the 12th, I'm afraid.

DDs getting ready for her first day - am crossing everything that it goes OK...

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2015 08:00

And Hatty, that's quite shocking about the French media. I wonder what other European countries are reporting.

Lalsy · 03/09/2015 08:10

Oooh BTM, good luck to her. Can you hint where she is off to in South London school code speak Grin? Football season has started with a bang (literally) for ds - I am not sure how he will fit everything in. dd is away in European capitals with friends - I will be interested to hear how aware she is of what is going on.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/09/2015 08:31

Stropps - it sounds exhausting. I had hoped to have got over the whiny teen stage by now. DD1 called late last night and was positively cheery and upbeat about her lessons - she said she is really enjoying the environmental stuff and the history, likes her new maths teacher. Shock And she won't be home this weekend, because they are going hiking. ShockShock (This was on the cards but she said she didn't think she would go.)

DD2 has made more effort to go out and see friends this week, rather than stay in her room drawing, which is good. She has also baked some revolting rose flavoured cupcakes.

DH has taken all of the neighbour's stuff up to him, and has told him that we cannot be disturbed every five minutes (it was non-stop last night). We'll see how long this lasts. DH is wfh tomorrow. I have given up working from home one day a week as the neighbour knows I am in and just stands there banging on the door.

Rose - you must want to slap your mother. Grin

I spent most of my student days Marching…and have the pics to prove it Grin.

In inherited-Crepey fashion, poor old DD2 managed to get the timing totally wrong for school this morning (DD1’s year was going in later); I got back from my much-needed Ladyjog and she was in tears in the kitchen while DP finished making her a packed lunch. I put her in the car and drove her, which I do about once a year…

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2015 11:17

Lalsy, I have PM'd youWink

Just had a big slice of birthday cake to cheer myself up - not the best day to have a birthday, particularly as DD nearly had a complete melt-down in her lastminute.com getting to school... DH had to drive her there (5mins away!) to avert a crisis here too, MI! So hoping that's the worst it gets today. Anyhow, in true crepey style, I am being taken out for pre-theatre dinner and then on to see Beautiful tonightSmile

Happy birthday, BTM - have a lovely evening! Hope dd's first day goes well and she comes home feeling upbeat (fingers crossed).

MrsS, I hope dd1's more positive outlook is here to stay! Hope your neighbour has got the message and dh is ready to repel him tomorrow if not.

I have just given dd one of these. He is a worry-eater. You write down your worries and then give them to him to eat. She actually cracked a smile and said thank you. I think he is nicer than those creepy little worry dolls.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2015 13:10

Haha, love it Stropps!

CointreauVersial · 03/09/2015 13:32

DS got a B in his Science GCSE. Chuffed to bits!!

hattymattie · 03/09/2015 13:37

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BTM.

Gosh lots of last minute driving in this morning. Good. luck to all those starting school. DS - still not happy with his class and will hear tomorrow i he's managed to change. Not holding out much hope though.

DD1 has gone into Paris to meet a friend who sounds exactly like Tilly from Miranda! I didn't believe she was for real - very nice girl though. Grin

I have been to M&S to buy lots of treats for the two who have their first full day of school including mega chocolate biscuits.

Mrs S - you've done the right thing re bonkers neighbour.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 03/09/2015 13:54

Good luck to all restarting / starting school today. Ds2 has until next Tuesday to loaf around still - but refuses to do anything useful like find his school tie etc. or see if he needs to buy any games kit... Oh well, as I've told him, I won't be here on the day when he finds he is missing various essentials... Hmm.

WELL DONE! to Master CV.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you BTM, hope you have a good day and birthday outing sounds good!

Like the worry eater Stropps - and if dd can raise a wry smile that sounds promising...

I have an important interview tomorrow for (yet another) course I want to do. Feel very unprepared and anxious. Wish me good luck and send me positive Crepey vibes please.

bigTillyMint · 03/09/2015 13:57

Well done to your DS, CV! Fancy having to wait this long to find outShock

Good Luck Giddy - can you do anything to prepare before tomorrow (if that would make you feel better?

hattymattie · 03/09/2015 13:58

Good luck and positive vibes Giddy - you'll nail it Smile

Auriga · 03/09/2015 14:02

All the best for you interview GGG Thanks

Blackduck · 03/09/2015 14:11

MrsS hope it works with neighbour.

GGG - fingers crossed!

Sent dp to do the school shoe/trainer/bag buying and suggested a hair cut too.

motherinferior · 03/09/2015 14:44

motherinferior · 03/09/2015 15:03

And well done to the young Versial.

Lalsy · 03/09/2015 16:13

Well done Master CV, and good luck GGG.

I am flippin' freezing.

Rosebag · 03/09/2015 16:29

Sympathies to Crepeys who have had to do mad dashes to schools of DC who have mis-timed, overslept, dragged their heels….

That sounds a great result CV Smile Star

MI your website is impressive and so are you. I am petrified of these people…they're the big names in the profession and they look at me like I'm something they wiped off their shoe. Privately, I think it's all Emperors New Clothes and hot air, but there you go. And I have to present to them on a project I've been leading…wibble

Cake Wine Flowers Star Tilly Are you having a lovely day?

Monty my DBro was the much wanted boy after three girls. I could never compete with any of my siblings, least of all him. Have texted you…x

Good luck to DS Hatty in trying to get a better class…can you actually do that in France? Here, the parents have to make an almighty fuss to change their DC's classes!

Good Luck Giddy…you won't need it…you are a clever person!

Stropps I am the family worry eater….. Hmm Grin

Spending much of the day grasping the nettle with these piles of paperwork that seem to accumulate in certain locations in the house. DH is driving me bonkers…he won't agree to bank statements being online…wants everything in hard copy. And we are drowning. He has one journal after another which he rarely reads but only throws them away on his agenda. like never And he has developed his own idiosyncratic way of filing (we have 2 filing cabinets…) which means he can find everything, (he says), and the rest of us can find sod all. Angry
I have a headache.

DD is watching rubbish TV and DS2 is having lunch at Nandos somewhere or other…he doesn't go back til Monday. DD is back tomorrow. Just had a nice email from head of science to confirm that she can do single science. They have had quite a lot of requests for this, so have formed a class. I am relieved.
