Welcome to notdead and Lobster and welcome back Karbea and Georgina - the thread moves fast but just jump in when you can!

Thanks for the new thread Dry

lobster I think you could do a version of the pin look you like, just fancy flats instead of towering heels?

As others have said, I think most of us find casual dressing more of a challenge. I guess that is why there has been a proliferation of 'mum' blogs. I wear jeans and top (and yes, a stripey one Grin) most of the time but also like maxi / midi tube skirts or dresses as they feel casual enough for my lifestyle but a bit of a change.

Lovely bag Fedup and how nice of your DH to surprise you.

Notdead jersey blazers seem a good way of looking smarter / pulled together, but they are comfy and feel like wearing a cardigan Smile

Hush do that kind of thing well - like this Also, I have one from whistles a few years back that is still going strong.

Lib have you seen this midi skirt good colour though mmf.

I also love this one

Some advice - I really like this bag but wonder if the colour would work for me? I do wear Hoc winter colours but mainly darker / neutral ones so black, greys, blues, plus some purple / damson and dark green. Not sure if the bag would work as a neutral??

Love the way it looks here and here

They do it in orange too

Shop I tried on the office flats you bought - I am tempted to get them too. I like leopard also but think black might be better for me. I also like the boden ones in silver too - but how many ghillie shoes is too many??

One I can't believe you mentioned the C word!!

Lots of seafolly on sale if anyone has yet to go on holiday.

Sounds like you all had great holidays Novice, Marsha and QueenC!

OneLittleLady · 17/08/2015 10:34

i throw myself on your mercy bernice and plead that i have a HUGE family, six brothers and sisters, two BIL, two SIL, eight nieces and nephews, DS, DP and MIL, Ds's '2nd' family which is comprised of 5 people and then a token gift for Ds's step grandfather, my former step father, from Ds so he has something to give him on 2nd c word. that doesn't include any extended family or friends, that's just the core people who are bought for. I've been shopping since the january sales, picking up bits and bobs here and there as and when i see them at good prices. Doing it this way massively brings down the cost as everyone gets good, well thought out gifts but they cost me much much less than they should because i shop year round. i always appear to have spent a vast amount more money than i really have!! please, i beg of you, have mercy on me!!

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2015 10:43

Nice here too.
Just been to fitness class and will wear dress after shower I think!

Karbea · 17/08/2015 12:21

Morning all,

amber enjoy Bicester look fwd to all update!

one I think MK are pretty good quality. I've a bag that dh got me that's as nice as a very similar prada I have.

Ootd I'm at work, so cream/green leaf print cotton harems and a white vest.

For autumn I definitely need a cardi. I think I might get another boden one, I've been happy with my orange one I got earlier in the year. But open to inspiration!

GeorginaWorsley · 17/08/2015 13:44

Weather changed and now cloudy. .
So its white Boden skinnies plus slate blue White Company tee.
My favourite outfit at the momentSmile

NotdeadyetBOING · 17/08/2015 14:16

Thanks Bernice. Funnily enough I got one of those grey Hush jackets last year. Is perfect and, as you say, feels like a cardigan. Need more along those lines, I think.

NotdeadyetBOING · 17/08/2015 15:23

Blimey - new Boden catalogue has just arrived and it's bloody amazing! They have seriously changed. Loads of stuff that I want.

Fedupnagging · 17/08/2015 16:25

Welcome back Georgina and hi and welcome Notdead

I have a cape with a fur collar which I love but is totally impractical for day to day wear remembers complete pickle I got in when wearing it for a shopping trip so is reserved for car to bar type events now.

Bernice that bag is lovely-the leather looks so soft. I rarely match/coordinate a bag to an outfit nowadays so you can definitely get that colourway which is also very lovely.

One Shock at your shopping list for that day but you do sound very organised.

Blair sounds like you're going to have a good week. Where are you off to on Sat? (I have another couple of weeks until my bday)

Shop I've not seen the film but would like to - I have seen Advanced Style though which was great. Whatever your taste in clothes, you've got to admire those ladies' style - not a Nora Batty stocking in sight (unless carefully styled!)

shopafrolic · 17/08/2015 17:58

Waves to Georgina and welcome NotDead
Enjoy your biscuits Marsha
Need to look at links but am loving all the AW chat. I need skinnies, black and dark indigo. Some new basic black and white tees and that is probably it (someone remind me of that statement at a later date please)
I have the burgundy Gazelles and wear them lots. But my new Superstars have arrived and it's LOVE

MN VOGUE VOL 62
shopafrolic · 17/08/2015 18:09

Love that bag Bernice the khaki would probably be better - I think it's fine in accessories - I still use my orange bag.
Karbea I can't remember if I welcomed you back last night and can't scroll back - good to see you
NotDead jersey jackets work well for me too - especially in this weird changeable weather - but my black one has faded a lot - I need dense colours which is sometimes difficult
Amber what news from Bicester I can't ever drink Sambuca after a hideous drinking session ending with me throwing up on the night bus

libertychick · 17/08/2015 18:10

They are fab shop. Love them!

Bernice thanks for the Finery links. The navy skirt is now on my maybe list. That bag is gorgeous. I think the kakhi would be more versatile than the orange.

shopafrolic · 17/08/2015 18:17

for Karbea

shopafrolic · 17/08/2015 18:19

BrandyAlexander · 17/08/2015 18:46

Hello! Was back at work today!Shock Wearing Roland mouret banana republic hot pink dress with oyster Armani jacket. I am wearing beige open toed heeled sandals so decided to use my oak Bayswater. As its summer I didn't run into hoardes of people with the same bag unlike Gatwick airport on Saturday with my MK bag

OneLittleLady · 17/08/2015 18:52

oh, i like that wallet shop and i am in the market for a new one, maybe i should create a wishlist somewhere!

back from london now, really didn't want to leave but i had to. its really hard to have to come back here and leave dp behind Sad

GeorginaWorsley · 17/08/2015 19:49

Thanks dry
Wore Whistles white skinnies in the end.
I recommend Whistles jeans a lot, nice weight of fabric and just enough stretch.
Loving the links above .

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2015 20:01

Wow Shop I'd wear all of those links apart from the leather skirt. Need MNV to dress me.
Will look at Whistles jeans Georgina

I need recommendations for nice place to eat on a Saturday night when I come for central London shopping trip next month. Somewhere with atmosphere. Someone recommended cocktails at the top of the Walkie Talkie Confused building.

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/08/2015 20:20

Is that the Sky Garden Dry? That is on my list of places to go. You can eat there I think.

fedup we are going to the Dordogne. It's MIL's 60th and they are renting a little chateau for the family (sounds funny but it's not a villa or gite IYSWIM!). 8 of us going which should be lovely.

shop trainers look amazing! Very you.

AmberNectarine · 17/08/2015 20:26

So, reporting back:

I bought...

Black and grey trousers from DKNY for work. Nice fit but not exciting.
This dress which looks great on and will be v useful for work.
This which I will NOT be wearing as a dress but doubling over to make a pencil skirt.
This Coach tote which was pleasing as I had a leopard print tote on my A/W wishlist
And a silver grey monogram print Gucci scarf.

I reluctantly left a pair of magenta peep toe Rupert Sanderson heels because I really don't need anymore shoes but it was a wrench. I will probably go back and buy the same Gucci scarf in burgundy in a couple of months and possibly a Lulu Guinness lips clutch because I've always wanted one.

So, there you have it!

shopafrolic · 17/08/2015 20:30

Pineapple disco balls for Amber

Karbea · 17/08/2015 20:38

blair I've eaten there, it was nice, it's a great view. I found the garden underwhelming but others I know, loved it.

amber good selection, the Gucci scarves are great. I've one in black that I no longer wear, and one in purple that I do. Need to get a few more autumn colour ones, so handy. Did they have anything nice in Russell and Bromley?
