Evening, back from a great weekend away. Was really warm but seems chillier back home this evening.
Hope those returning from holidays had a great time.
Lovely dresses Fedup, I love cobalt and really like the Coast one.
Welcome Lobster I have just bought these kimono tee in both colours and they are great, lovely material, the blue colour is really nice and a good slouchy fit to wear with skinnies or straight jeans. Highly recommend them. Haven't tried on my other sale purchases from last week but need to sort this week. They are all things that will work well into autumn but I can't bring myself to think about boots and jumpers yet!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/08/2015 21:12

Welcome back MVB and Marsha and hi Lobster (I can tell your name will make me hungry whenever I see it!) :)

Casual clothes are not my strong point either. I would love to make more effort, but default to jeans and tees. Probably because I have bought expensive jeans and tees and feel I need to wear them! Sigh.

fedup that is such a lovely classic bag, you will use it loads. Was it a surprise? well done your DH!

Fedupnagging · 16/08/2015 21:19

Thanks for the bag love, yes I think I will use it a lot as am partial to a hobo type bag, and yes, unexpected. still smiling every time I think about it

Welcome home Marsha, so pleased you had a lovely time.

I really liked the cape you have ordered Lib so can't wait for your report.

Shapeless coats and autumn colours are not my style at all but all you autumns can go to town this year stocking up your wardrobes. I saw a celeb somewhere wearing a skirt very similar to this - love the style.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 16/08/2015 21:20

And fedup when is your birthday? :)

QueenCardigan · 16/08/2015 21:30

Great bag fedup. Love it when a bag makes you smile Smile
Welcome back marsha
Welcome lobster. As a sahm of 3 I wear jeans every day with some sort of top or blouse. It took me a while to find my style but now I'm really happy with what I wear. I'd struggle now if I had to smarten up for work. I know what you mean about the heels thing though. The shoes that I'm usually attracted to are dolly/t bar shoes with small heels. I intend of walkng to school every day once dd is settled and less tired which I haven't been able to do due to needing to drive to preschool some days. It's a 35 min round trip of walking so shoes have to be fairly sensible.

I'm wondering what will happen with my wardobe come September. In some ways I can wear nicer things as I won't be at toddler groups but in other ways I won't be getting out as much so won't have anywhere to wear things to.

GeorginaWorsley · 16/08/2015 21:32

Dropping in again and determined to keep up with thread!
Thanks shop for hair advice, I keep perusing kerastase products but can never decide what to buy!
Am actually looking forward to autumn.
I want some new boots, both knee and ankle,a sort of poncho (like the look if the Jigsaw ones)
Plus am considering a Boden nude pink silk slouchy jumper, not my colour really but am ordering to try.

shopafrolic · 16/08/2015 21:38

Kerastase spray

LinusDKD · 16/08/2015 21:42

Gorgeous bag! Well done MrFedup

I know this is £££ but it's cobalt royal blue and I have been lusting after it ever since I saw it.

dress

Shame I have nowhere to wear it. Oh wait, I do have a significant birthday coming up.....

shopafrolic · 16/08/2015 21:46

Has anyone watched the Iris Apfel documentary Iris Movie

NotdeadyetBOING · 16/08/2015 21:46

Marking place. I need to re-engage with the world of fashion and style. Want to have a purge of wardrobe first as is bulging at seams with rather a lot of tat, but need to focus on what few, key items would work. Looks like you guys all know what would suit each other (have you all met up??). I am size 10/12, 5ft 7, mid-forties kill me now and verging on pear shape. Like nipped in stuff rather than shapeless sacks for shape reason. Can't be arsed to wear heels unless forced/special occasion these days.

QueenCardigan · 16/08/2015 21:47

Thats very you linus
fedup I think that Stella one may be in my fantasy wardrobe.

QueenCardigan · 16/08/2015 21:49

Welcome notdead. We have all met a few times and we've been chatting on here for years so know each other's style pretty well. What do you need from your clothes? Do you work? Smart? Casual?

NotdeadyetBOING · 16/08/2015 21:55

I work, but mainly from home and have quite a few nice dresses (The Fold/Goat type things) so less worried about work stuff. More casual. Live in jeans, Ash suede ankle boots or ballet flats, etc. If left to my own devices will shove slobby -shirt and jumper over jeans rather than bothering to do nice shirt & jacket thing. In my head am still teenager so think uber casual is good, but I know that is not the case!

Always after practical (am too lazy and tight to be dry cleaning all the time) , comfortable and stylish casual wear. Bizzarely have been living in an old pair of (whisper it) Top Shop black and white 7/8 length trousers of late. Need to be saved from the lure of the Boden catalogue which I may never return from...

NotdeadyetBOING · 16/08/2015 21:57

Incidentally, not meaning to stick the knife into Boden (and do find them great for certain things), but am not prepared to embrace the whole jolly print business lock stock and barrel IYKWIM

Drywhiteplease · 16/08/2015 21:59

Georgina I was looking at the Jigsaw ponchos earlier, they do look tempting.

Notdead I like more fitted clothes too and have been trying for the 3yrs I've been on this thread to buy key quality items instead of bulk buying tat that I just don't love. I adore a skyscraper heel and don't care if they hurt but have to wear flats for work.

AmberNectarine · 16/08/2015 22:00

Ooh a new thread and new people. How exciting!

Went on a pub crawl with some of DH's school chums yesterday and got involved in a drinking contest (which I won). I have quite a few black spots in my memory and can still taste the sambuca. Urgh.

In more exciting news I'm off to Bicester with my mum tomorrow so that should be fun. Off on hols on Thursday so will have to get packing soon.

QueenCardigan · 16/08/2015 22:02

Off to be now but look forward to catching up with the rest of the chat tomorrow.

Stokey · 16/08/2015 22:29

Welcome back Marsha, glad hols were great.

Hello Lobster and Notdead. I'm not working at the moment and so try not to wear jeans all the time. I like wearing skirts and dresses but tend to dress them down with trainers or flats. That said, my first buy of the autumn needs to be new jeans.

And welcome back Georgina.

Great bag Fedup, well done DH. And I liked the Outnet cobalt dress you linked. Linus the Stella is gorgeous, definitely do it if you have somewhere to wear it.

Amber you are hard core, Sambucca shots never end well.

I saw a gorgeous green cape in Massimo Dutti last year, but are they just a bit impractical? Not sure I can see myself gadding around the playground in a cape, and worried I'd get cold. I need to try one I think. I feel a bit swamped by cocoon coats, although I know that's the idea. Yet another thing that works better on the tall?

QueenCardigan · 17/08/2015 08:57

You are hardcore amber Grin. Have fun in Bicester.
notdead it must be hard working from home. I'd be tempted to dress in fleece and sweatpants all day!

libertychick · 17/08/2015 09:19

Welcome notdead and welcome back georgina Smile

Stokey capes probably not the best for playground! I'm imagining wearing mine on weekend shopping trips/lunches with skinnies out or to work with slim trousers. I have debated buying one for the last few years as I don't think it's a wear every day thing.

Sounds like hols were good Marsha. Are you back to work today?

Starting to put together my AW shopping list:

Camel coat Max Mara Ninetta would be fab but unlikely

Trainers - maybe Adidas gazelles if I can find them in an autumn colour or I may just play safe and get brown leather converse. I have worn converse every year since approx 1992 Grin

Brown ankle boots - am debating some knee length too but will wait for sales for those

Midi length jersey skirt in autumn colour - preferably petrol / marine blue / teal

For work, wool trousers, pencil skirt or 2, couple of dresses, a jacket, couple of cardigans, silk tops. Basically a new work wardrobe! But having done a bit of a clear out this weekend I have decided I have enough options especially as I work in different locations, WFH etc so I can get away with the same outfit more than once a week. I am going to try and hold out and only buy things I really, really love rather than buying things 'that will do'. Relying on you all to keep me on the straight and narrow!

QueenC I am WFH today and wearing jersey pants and H&M tank top!!

OneLittleLady · 17/08/2015 09:41

ugh, you're braver than me being on the sambuca amber a vile vile drink and the taste takes for ever to get rid of

List sounds good lib

i think i'm really going to struggle to buy much again this season with the colours that are on trend right now. it may nd up being that i buy less but spend ore on each item to get the in colour ways that are going to suit rather than buying cheap things in the right shapes but very wrong colours. On a plus note though, I got a great plaid skirt yesterday, little hanky hem on it which does in fact make it a bit longer than primarks usual skirt offerings and it's wool mixed as well which given how much it cost, just can't be grumbled at. i did see a few other different coloured plaid skirts in there and a few decent looking plaid shirts so may go back for those at some point.

i am now gearing up to do the proper shopping for the annual C celebration at the end of the year. i know what everyone is getting bar Dsis 1 as the thing she wanted for it, isn't going to be possible this year with her being ill and us not yet knowing what treatments she might need. i know she would like a michael kors handbag, she's been coveting one for ages now but i truly don't know if they are worth the money they cost. it's not a question of style or taste, Dsis1 and i have wildly different tastes but if i'm buying her one i want to know it's worth what i'm paying for it, iyswim? opinions and/or other recommendations gratefully received. it would be present covering both her birthday and the C celebration as it would be an expensive present and I would rather buy her one thing she really wants to cover both occasions than buy her stuff she doesnt much care for and split the present opening between the two as tbqh, it would end up costing just as much if i did split presents

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/08/2015 09:57

Hi notdead and to Georgina, good to see you back.

One I think MK are worth it in the sale (which most of the time means the outnet but I would also keep an eye on brandalley etc). You're so organised!

I'm in total holiday mode (for Saturday) and doesn't help that it's my birthday tomorrow. Grin Need to start a list for packing and maybe buy some sunglasses, but as I never even got around to replacing my sandals (apart from the Crocs) I doubt that will happen.

Amber looking forward to a Bicester report!

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2015 10:09

Thanks everyone Smile

Lib yes back at work. We were lucky in the end as our flight changed from landing at past midnight to the afternoon. It would have taken a few hours to get home so could have been a bit rubbish. Love your list, the coat is gorgeous, really like the colour.

Bought some Spanish biscuits at the airport for work, have opened them here, they don't look very exciting.

Blair oth your holiday is exciting

MarshaBrady · 17/08/2015 10:12

Stokey I always need to be warm in the playground in winter. Hence the -less fashionable more serious but toasty sorel boots.

Welcome notdead, welcome back Georgina

Drywhiteplease · 17/08/2015 10:14

Liberty think Amber (?) has the Gazelles in burgundy which I think would fit in nicely with your autumn wardrobe , I love them in that colour.

Amber I've always wanted to go to Bicester (or Chershire Oaks) .....look forward to seeing what you find.
