Right ladies I'm off to a castle so have to get up and ready. I will be back this evening with links.

Longislandicetee · 30/08/2015 09:03

Morning!

Have had a brilliant couple of days. We did a leaving party for our nanny on Friday. Started at 3pm, so had kids round. It was a gorgeous day so all out in the garden. My outdoor speakers got their first social use, so was happy about that. Then turned into an adults party after 8pm when we put the kids to bed. I was knocking back bollinger like no ones business. Blush Our friends stayed over, which was great. After hangover curing fry up yesterday morning, we had such an awesome day out. Involved being in big fields so it wasn't the time to be fashionable! (Michael Kors navy Breton, j crew blue jeans, warehouse quilted hooded jacket and Nike trainers!). The downside on the last few days is that it has suddenly hit dd that the nanny she has had all her life has gone so she's fine during the day but upset in the last 3 evenings. I just sit by her side stroking her to sleep. Today, we are taking them to the cinema for the first time. They are super excited.

QueenofCardigans · 30/08/2015 09:06

Just browsing ST style. It's official- the cardi is back. See p14!

Longislandicetee · 30/08/2015 09:10

Oh my fashion question!!!

Am off to a wedding next weekend. It will be chilly so thinking longer sleeves. What do you think of this Michael Kors dress or DvF Bentley dress? Do either of them even say wedding? Dmil will be there so I was always feel pressure to look good. (Long story!). Also shall I just take pashmina to keep warm? Can I wear with ivory fascinator? Don't think either suits a hat, but if I did it would be a black hat.

Alternatively, is there something else out there that is appropriate for a wedding, long sleeves? Or thoughts on accessories? Really need to sort this out by tomorrow! Flowers

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 30/08/2015 09:47

Blingy I am not too good with weddings advice but they both look very evening-y to me. Is it a day or evening wedding / reception? I don't think an ivory fascinator would work - just don't think a fascinator suits the style of dress. A black hat might work - but do you have to wear a hat? is it a traditional wedding?

this says day time wedding more to me

this is pretty

this and this

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2015 10:02

Blingy my favourite is the DvF but yes might be too eveningy.

Out of Bernice's links my favourite is the MaxMara.

Karcheer · 30/08/2015 10:04

queen did they show any nice cardis? I really need a couple.
Wearing brown Ralph Lauren cardi which is ok but a bit old and looks a bit scrappy.

Longislandicetee · 30/08/2015 10:05

You're soooo fab Bernice. Flowers.

You're right. I was worried about them looking too evening-y.

The short sleeves are out as I would just then have to get/worry about getting jacket.

The Roland Mouret would be perfect except I have managed to zing on some post holiday pounds

I would love to wear the Hobbs dress but I only wore it last month at another wedding. Totally different set of people but I have Facebook pictures of it. I always have this thing about wearing either a new dress to weddings or one that hasn't been seen before. Blush. If I go with this, do you reckon black hat?

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2015 10:08

Also last one from me on it all, but here is the plaid close up. I really like the red and pink in it - feels very rich and warm and nicely autumnal. Was hard to get in the big pic and I can't find a link darn it.

Morning!

Sorry guys - as I posted that photo, my phone died. Then DH and I ended up going out out (karaoke and cocktails) so I didn't get a chance to post.

Anyway, here she is....

I also bought: this jacket

this dress which is a lot longer on me!

this bracelet

And some Charlotte tilbury make up. Still got coat and boots to get - think coat will be this in the most amazing purple.

shopafrolic · 30/08/2015 10:18

Glad the trainers stayed Marsha - didn't know you were considering sending them back. Plaid looks good close up. The logo one would have been a bit much I think.
Can't open links at all right now so will have to look later.
Capucine you definitely remind me of Mignonette too - how funny
Annoyed about my MiH Breton sweater. It has pulls after only two wears. V frustrating!

MarshaBrady · 30/08/2015 10:31

Beautiful Amber - what a buy, love it

Shop wondered whether they were too big on my feet but think I'll get used to the whiteness. How annoying about the top.

My sister is here from Aus, how exciting. We are out all day living it up but first we're going to the Marant shop in Shoreditch. I'm wearing Marant x 3: trainers, jacket and shirt. Blush

shopafrolic · 30/08/2015 10:35

Oh wow Marsha that's so lovely. Enjoy your day Smile
Amber I love that bag - forgive my ignorance but which style is that? I'm sure I should know my Chanels but I don't Sad Love the colour of that biker too.

maradesbois · 30/08/2015 10:37

Morning all,

QueenC hmm, sure you're not the ST journo? Wink

Marsha so glad you kept the trainers, your dh sounds fab. Great plaid too. When I opened my curtains this am a leggy blonde was passing dressed in black skinnies with white trainers, thought of you!

Shop rubbish about your MiH.

Amber love the Chanel, gorgeous.

Blingy I think R Mouret ticks all the boxes and would work with black hat. Can't believe you've put on so many lbs on hols that it won't look good.

You're all so focused on AW am worried there'll be nothing left in the shops! Lusting after this dress. Don't normally do anything asymmetric but think the hem lifts it from too classic territory. Won't get it as too £££ and mmf plus need to reserve budget for practical things like boots and jeans.

Karcheer · 30/08/2015 10:39

amber beautiful buys :)

Ujjayi · 30/08/2015 10:40

Morning! Not going to lie, I'm feeling a little erm "tired" this morning ????. We went to a party last night and I stupidly didn't eat beforehand. Thankfully I went fairly easy on the prosecco but was so wired I couldn't sleep. Had a great night tho - wore one of my own designs (green silk one-shoulder draped dress) which got a very positive reaction - I actually got stopped & asked "where from" en route to the party. DH wanted me to wear the Marant but I know that's going to get plenty of action through A/W & opportunities for emerald silk are somewhat limited in my life!

Blingy - I love the Hobbs dress. It's got a wonderful nod to "The New Look" so a simple but large-ish black hat would be fab and balances out the skirt volume.

Marsha - I love the plaid shirt. Looks very cosy. I wore plaid shirts a lot last winter, layered over long sleeve tees. That with the trainers & skinnies will be fab.

Ujjayi · 30/08/2015 10:46

Shop - how annoying with the MiH

Marsha - enjoy your day!

Amber - great shopping!

Mara - I love the Stella dress too. I can absolutely see you in that. Imagine with 70s chestnut knee high boots... You should totally get it.

maradesbois · 30/08/2015 10:57

Ujj emerald silk one shoulder sounds gorgeous. Love an exposed shoulder. You're right about boots with the Stella dress, would look fab. Saw some gorgeous Chloé ones somewhere. Oh why do my tastes just get more expensive with age. Have cashed in some investments to pay my course fees, worrying that I could happily blow it all in less than 30 mins of Internet shopping...

Ujjayi · 30/08/2015 10:58

Karcheer & KittyHello - I have tried so many times this year to tackle my wardrobe and failed so this book & technique is my only hope! So far it is making a lot of sense and I'm loving the psychological aspects of the approach, such as identifying an end point but also what that end point represents to you. Lots of questions to address before you just dive in and start chucking stuff out.

Part of my reluctance to get rid of stuff is that I feel guilty about what I've spent and so charity shopping it seems wasteful but eBay never reaps the rewards you expect either & it's a lot of hassle for little return.

Ujjayi · 30/08/2015 11:03

Mara.... And a slouchy, classic Stella oversized belted cardi... Go on, you know you want to!

maradesbois · 30/08/2015 11:04

Marsha your day out with dsis sounds fab. If you see this in the Marant store would love to know what it's like irl. Want something like this for autumn.

maradesbois · 30/08/2015 11:05

Ujj stop enabling Grin

libertydoddle · 30/08/2015 11:06

Amber that bag is just perfect. Love it. What a great shopping day you had!

Have fun with your sister Marsha. The IM SA's will be all over you!

Blingy definitely the Hobbs dress. Don't worry about FB photos, I think it shows confidence and class to recycle outfits.

Shop that is really annoying with the MIH - will you return?

libertydoddle · 30/08/2015 11:08

Hit post to soon - Mara that Stella dress is amazing and would be fabulous on you. I would love it too but definitely out of my price range Sad

shopafrolic · 30/08/2015 13:39

I don't know if I can for pulls? Not sure I'll get away with it. But it is looking tatty after two wears.... WWYD Voguettes? It was a sale purchase....
