Love love love Marsha - have you cooled down? Grin

MarshaBrady · 27/08/2015 21:22

Just Shop just! Grin

Capucine like the sound of that too

LinusLovesBretons · 27/08/2015 21:24

you didn't take The Santa's advice?

I can understand you didn't listen to me, because what do I know. But The Santa?!

Wink
MarshaBrady · 27/08/2015 21:42

Gasp I know, I'm going to regret it aren't I? Grin

Stokey · 27/08/2015 21:51

Love em Marsha, I think you'll get loads of wear out of them. and actually think the white is more you...

I have the Office ghillies and as of today the Boden ones Viva. I like them both, but thought I'd get a bit more wear out of the leather ones now the rain is setting in. They're slightly different shapes - the Office ones are higher at the sides and a bit narrower. The Boden ones are a bit lower and wider but have a higher back and zip at the heel.

Thanks for the Asos Marrakech tip Shop. I've got 2 pairs winging my way here to try but bit unsure. I still haven't worn the H&M ones I bought 3 months ago, the main problem being that in my SAHM life, I hardly wear heels.

Larastheme · 27/08/2015 21:58

Good choice, marsha, keep the liberty references coming, my heart skips a beat, every time you mention it,just like school days, you get terribly excited when someone mentions your crush Grin
capucine , the only ones,I can think of are the chloe ones, but they are silk, and not sheer, other than that, can't think of any,

Ive just watched suite Francaise, so so movie not terribly exciting, have watched better WII ones, was checking my phone half of the time but my ,that Matthias schoenaerts is just yummy,

KittyHello · 27/08/2015 22:19

Stokey I have that problem with my flares too, I like them but they need heels and I prefer sandal heels not boot heels. flare and boots remind me a bit too much of bootcuts Hmm

Marsha fab trainers, how do you plan on keeping them pristine? I

Fedup I'm not sure and someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong but I think APC use a certain type of denim for their jeans, a lot more rigid than we are used to they need wearing in, hence the extreme washing regime.

Shop loved the Mango cape that was linked.

shopafrolic · 27/08/2015 22:38

She listened to The Shop Linus Grin
Glad you got some flares stokey - can see you rocking them. I wear mine a reasonable amount but prefer the longer ones I wear with heels than the ones i wear with trainers. Loads of other denim discounts on ASOS too. Lots of other MiH styles.
How was your day Dry? We're off to Brighton tomorrow - can't wait - love it there. Keep your fingers crossed for sunshine.

Drywhitethanks · 27/08/2015 23:08

Great purchase Marsha

shop re Longchamp bag. Saw and loved the red Le Foulonne . DH said to get it but I'm going to wait until my birthday. SA wrote all details down for him , v clearly incl email so he can't possibly get it wrong. I told her to add "8 weeks or strap shortening"...... Can he cock it up?Confused
Brighton was fab again. just love North Laine and the Lanes area best. Hope you have a lovely day

QueenofCardigans · 28/08/2015 08:21

You're a brave woman dry, trusting your dh Grin. I would have bought it and then given it to him to give to me so I absolutely knew I had the right thing.
Can't wait to wear my flares but refuse to wear boots until September.

I ordered a couple of things last night. Will link when they arrive.

libertydoddle · 28/08/2015 08:35

Morning all. Sun shining today yipee! Hope it's good in Brighton shop.

Did anyone see this week's ES mag? Feature on how the 'fash pack' dress their kids. Poor DC is all I can say. No bright colours, no pink, lots of grey marl and Bretons. One 'freelance fashion editor' went on about how hard it is to make sure the DC don't look 'styled' - the aim is casual dishevelled (with vintage denim jackets Hmm). Her two are not allowed dress up either unless it's vintage star wars. I kept wondering if it was a piss take Confused

GeorginaWorsley · 28/08/2015 08:49

stokey
Can I ask which Boden Ghillies you have?
Am undecided between navy or silver but leaning towards navy.
If I succumb at all as not sure I would find them comfortable or when I would wear them.
Shock..dry cleaning jeans.
I hate dry clean only stuff and don't buy.

QueenofCardigans · 28/08/2015 09:35

lib that makes me really sad. I always think that when I see North West dressed matching to KK and even Harper and WITs daughter. Maybe behind the scenes they have a massive dressing up box full of princess dresses/shoes/batman/Spider-Man outfits. My dc love nothing more than delving in there and making the wackiest outfits Grin

libertydoddle · 28/08/2015 09:56

QueenC the dress up box is DD's favourite thing too. I've just been over on AIBU talking about this as well - not many magazine articles annoy me but the attitude of the 2nd woman in the feature was really horrible. Treating children as accessories rather than individuals. And as a fashion person wouldn't you want to encourage your children to be creative and individual in their style?

I tend to buy DD quite 'middle class' clothes, lots of Boden, bit of Next, bits and pieces from TK Maxx but I let her pick and choose as long as it's weather and activity appropriate. Yesterday she spent the day in a bloody awful polyester blue dress with Cinderella on it that DH bought her in Sainsburys as a reward for being well behaved. Today she looks like the epitome of French chic in a navy and cream skort, cream shell top with a peter pan collar and navy cardi - both outfits chosen by herself.

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 28/08/2015 09:56

Hello

Good live shopping Marsha! I am on team white too. I think she did some leopard print ones which I loved the look of. A bit full on for everyday though.

Welcome to Capucine. After reading you were looking for pussy bow blouses, I saw some on atterley - here and here - I guess vintage would be a good way to go too.

I bought these shoes with the Finery code (bankholiday). Probably a marmite item but I really like them! And a bit different for wearing in this inbetweeny weather.

Georgina I have the silver boden ghillies - they have a really nice texture, kind of sparkly. I haven't worn them out yet - reviews seem to suggest you need to break them in and then they are okay. I do tend to find Boden shoes narrow.

Hope your DH gets it right this time Dry! When is your birthday?

Lib I can imagine you wearing brooches. (Now not sure if I have spelt that right - it looks odd).

I've got a yen for a 70s style dress - like this or this and also a prim midid dress like this - let me know if you see any.

AmberNectarine · 28/08/2015 10:06

My DD is the mistress of her own wardrobe - I let her wear anything she wants. She loved getting glammed up in the evenings on holiday - my favourite outfit she put together was a Stella McC polka dot tutu with a Breton tee and pink patent Mary-Janes. She made me do her hair in a French plait crown and paint her nails bright green! For day she favours gold high tops and skinnies. DS also has his own style but he is much preppier - he likes a shirt, buttoned to 11, natch. He does love bright colours though - I just got him some awesome cobalt and orange Air Force ones which I am really jealous of.

Yawn, got home at 5.30am, DD woke me at 9.15. Have a gap order to try on - burgundy boat neck and merino crew neck and a black pencil skirt for work. Ordered a US2 - hope my arse hasn't expanded beyond that!

AmberNectarine · 28/08/2015 10:34

Update: tried skirt, need a 0 - sort it out Gap!

libertydoddle · 28/08/2015 10:40

Grin Amber. The thing is the Cake lovers among us need somewhere with a forgiving sizing policy!

Bernice I love those shoes. I'm dithering over a pair of slingbacks from Finery but seems pointless with the weather and when I really need some boots.

I have a list of about 8 items I want to order from the Ines collection at Uniqlo next week.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2015 11:34

Bernice love the dresses and fab inbetween shoes. I still need some real AW ones.

Have fun in Brighton Shop hope it's warm like here.

Was great fun doing the live shop, I wasn't allowed to leave without something - was quite hard! But you all helped me pull through Grin

So sunny here today, am lying in bikini on sun bed. Cashmere jumpers arrived from the outnet, but they're the last thing I want to try on.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2015 11:35

Lib some lovely stuff in that collection, it looks great for you.

Larastheme · 28/08/2015 12:21

I don't think there is anything wrong with how they all dress tbh, it certainly doesn't warrant all this "sourcing", and all that crap about secret places, that only french editors know about, that cyrillus and monoprix bit made me Grin, seriously!! if you've transported all these Little ones to any playground in Paris or Amsterdam they will look like everybody else, maybe it just shows that there is a lack of choice in the UK for children's clothes.
It's just the attitude of that one mum, that made me Hmm there is nothing wrong with owning a Spider-Man hat, the little chap can still look "cool" ,with a Breton top,his dad's vintage 70s jeans jacket, and converse all star teamed with a Spider-Man hat. It's tres hipsterish, like someone straight out of canal st Martin.
I won't lie,I hate all that pink, glitter girl power slogans stuff, and thankfully dd is not crazy about it,it's the dress up gowns I have no power over, she loves dressing up so much,we have every elsa and Anna gown under the sun, last week she was Snow White and dh was her prince, of course i was the witch ,and some stuffed toys served as the 7 dwarfs, we did the whole eating the apple and going to sleep scene about a million times,at least it made her eat a whole apple so dc and both parents were very happy! Wink,

Hope you enjoy Brighton shop,

bernice I love the burberry one,

lib yes I think loads of the ines pieces would suit you,

Capucine00 · 28/08/2015 12:43

Bernice

Those Atterley blouses are pretty nice. I think I need something a little more fitted (not too close bodied but less roomy) but I might have a try.
I'll take a look at the Chloe ones, especially as Chloe's seventies outfits shot by Sarah Moon had the perfect blouse (go vintage!). Will chase down the image if I can.

An enormous thud at the front door has heralded the arrival of the September issue with Beyonce on the front. It's a bloody weapon of a magazine. There's yet ANOTHER Margot Tennenbaum article on her fashion inspiration for another season although yes, I do like the look but wish fashion would stop banging on about it. I spent much of the nineties looking like that for real so not wanting to go back. There's also FKA Twigs in a divine prada tweed top with an almost regency cut to the bodice and Kendall Jenner in a fantastic Chanel cardigan with lace semi portrait collar and camellia shaped buttons. The skirt is a tiered white confection with bands of crocheted wool with black mini ribbons (below).

Capucine00 · 28/08/2015 12:49

I'm also craving this vintage stripy Nina Ricci dress and the floaty Yves Saint Laurent Silk Blouse from the seventies. Love vintage.

libertydoddle · 28/08/2015 13:09

Damn it capucine. Now I want a blouse like that too!

Capucine00 · 28/08/2015 13:22

God it must be terribly stressful to worry about whether your children look 'styled' or not Hmm. Poor little blighters. And as for exclusivity, Monoprix is the place to shop in the suburbs and Vertbaudet and La Redoute both gave that look for the samew price point. There's something very sad about copying something that exists in France to dress kids practically and so they don't stand out in order TO stand out. Showing off in any way when you are a French kid is NOT WHAT IS DONE. French parents don't want their kids to be at the centre of attention like some other western countries tend to encourage- all those greys, navys, creams and pale muted colours aren't just about style, they are about parenting and life philosophies. :)

My kids escaped the Insta age but they had definite ideas about what they wanted to wear and having had a mother from hell who chose my clothes me everyday until I was 14 or so, I vowed to not make the same mistakes. I spent my youth dressed up as a little French schoolgirl which is absolutely fine if that is what you are going for but I was not.
