fedup that's lovely. I have a very similar one from gap years ago.

I'm wearing a 3/4 lengthn sleeve jumper with vest underneath and keds. I can't bear to put boots on in August. Not sure what the weather is doing here over the weekend as the forecasts are all completely different! Hoping its dry on Saturday as its date night and I want to wear the new pink shoes.

shopafrolic · 26/08/2015 13:40

Marsha linked the dress at the top of P14 Happy very similar to my red HL one on Pin

HappyGirlNow · 26/08/2015 13:57

Oooh that HL dress is fab!

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 26/08/2015 14:10

Hello all.

I wore boots yesterday but only as my only alternative were birkenstock (am away at mo). I would never normally wear boots until at least October. Like pointy flats or trainers for that in between-y time.

Hello again Ujjayi and welcome to Capucine - Dry I misunderstood your post and thought you'd said if you had another DS you would have named them Capucine! I thought 'poor child'.

Blingy I remember you bemoaning those boots quite a while ago.

HappyGirlNow Envy of your holiday. That is all Grin

Ooh Shop surprised to see you asking about cardigans Grin. Some good links from Linus. Agree All Saints might be a good place to look, perhaps later on in the season.

Kitty that LV stole is perfect for you! You are a sensible shopper not like me so am sure you could justify it and then not buy until the winter is over.

I have done quite a bit of my AW shopping in the recent sales and so don't need anything really. Am thinking of a shopping haitus until December (the chances of this happening are slim). Though I do want to get something from Etre Cecile. Need to ponder what.

Apparently we will all be wearing these birkenstock soon.

As it is the end of a (wet) summer and no one is feeling too inspired thought we could have some MNV questions:

  1. What have you most enjoyed wearing this summer?
  2. What are you most looking forward to wearing AW (either new or rediscovering something in your wardrobe)?

For me:

  1. White jeans. Need a new pair for next year though as mine didn't survive the summer.
  2. My navy stans.

Hello All waves

I’ve been a lurker on this thread for a while and thought I’d join in! Smile

It has been absolutely peeing it down here all day today, grey and miserable. I’m contemplating sorting out my winter wardrobe this weekend and having a shopping spree in the next week or so for any essential A/W items.

What would you guys suggest for staple pieces? Last year, my coat for A/W was a navy mid-length number with a fur hood, looks stylish, I like it but am thinking something different this year. I like coats with hoods as I hate my hair getting wet after I’ve straightened it and umbrellas just don’t really cut it

I also bought long brown leather boots last year and tended to wear them with skinny black jeans/ leggings/ occasionally denim skinnies and cardigans/ nice tops (they go with everything) jazzing it up with jewellery if needed.

I really like the trench coats but I’m 5’3 so think they’d swamp me a bit, saw one in Karen Millen the other day that I liked.

I was thinking of maybe getting a black leather jacket, are they in this season? I also need to get some beige/black ankle boots as I never bought any last year, despite meaning to.

I think I want some nice, flattering cardigans/jumpers etc too?

I’m a size 6-8 on top and 8-10 on bottom but I hate things that make me look bigger than I am!

What is everyone planning on wearing this A/W, non work wear, or pieces that are good for work and casual?

Anyway, just thought I’d say hi Smile

Larastheme · 26/08/2015 14:18

Hello lovelies!!
I've name changed, but I'm an oldie on this thread,

Loads of you are not liking what's out there, but I'm abslutely in love with everything going on for AW,I love all those seventies and bohemian trends,

Specially these, how awesome are they! They'd look fab with skinnies

libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 14:36

Welcome whitechocolate.

Lara those boots are ace! I have an inkling who you might be... Wink do link the new purchases.

Bernice good questions. This summer I have really enjoyed wearing my Allium B liberty print dress. For autumn I am looking forward to wearing coats again especially the red Chloe peacoat I bought from shop last year.

Have just bought a MK mustard silk shirt and an EIM plaid skirt in the outnet sale. Thanks for the tip off shop. I"ll link when back on laptop. I hesitated over a petrol colour Vince cashmere sweater and it sold out (doh!)

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 14:47

Lara I love those boots, very much. Yes to shopping spree.

Welcome whitechoc I'm wearing jumpers and jeans mostly! But will get new stuff, would like some skirts, so it doesn't feel so tired.

Shop thanks for heads up, need theoutnet to email me again, they stopped for some reason and won' start.

I got some stuff, will be back with links.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 14:50

Bernice I loved wearing my Lanvin flats and am looking forward to re-wearing Lanvin boots and Stella coat as I skipped wearing it last year.

I didn't see Dry Grin but I did get this Vince top in Liberty as had a voucher ready to expire. Very nice and soft.

libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 14:51
libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 14:52

Gah cross post!

libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 14:54

Nice top Marsha. Looks lovely quality.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 15:02

Love those Lib, remind me, can you do floral?

KittyHello · 26/08/2015 15:09

Very elegant skirt Lib I like it a lot

Bernice bizarrely I quite like those Birks, they remind me of slippers

Re: questions, I have mostly enjoyed wearing my shorts too and am looking forward to wearing all my ankle boots this a/w.

I noticed a massive gap in my summer wardrobe and that was for a nice floaty, patterned day skirt to wear with a tank or tee. I find skirts so hard to buy but next s/s I must try harder to find the one.

Hello White this a/w I'll be wearing ankle boots, skinnies, jumpers, black woollen coat and a parka for when it gets really cold. Nothing too out there. I almost wear a uniform and I like that.

Great top Marsha

Looking forward to the links

libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 15:10

Marsha I love floral. What have you found for me? Smile

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 15:26

Oh it's gone Sad that outnet sale is moving fast. It was an Equipment floral shirt

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 15:27

Children!

libertydoddle · 26/08/2015 15:28

Darn! I checked out all the Equipment stuff earlier though and debated a floral one and decided against so it was probably that one!

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 15:34

I bet it was. I thought you may have seen it ,

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 15:48

My outnet order is

Jil Sander probably the only time I can afford a JS jumper.

Equipment jumper, could be too minty but will see.

And really like the look of this NLST t. Not with extra 40% but still, hopefully worth it.

Saved loads! £700 Love how they put that.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2015 16:05

Welcome back Ujjayi, I know the weather - humph

Happy sounds very lovely [green]

shopafrolic · 26/08/2015 16:22

All these NCers and newbies too - I have no chance of keeping up - I can't even remember what I did at the weekend! Grin
Welcome whitechoc. I am a SAHM cliche when it comes to clothes I'm afraid. Skinny jeans, chunky knit high necked jumpers, or sweatshirts, plaid shirts, or linen tees, blazer or biker jacket. Pistol boots or flat knee high boots.
Larastheme I knew who you were as soon as I saw those beautiful boots - perfect for you
Marsha that Jil Sander will be so good on you - LOVE
Lib love the skirt - will that blouse be a bit too acidic? Not sure about Autumn stuff anymore now that I am a committed winter Hmm
Glad the Outnet prompt was welcome - was worried you'd all tell me off Grin
Questions

  1. What have you most enjoyed wearing this summer? - tough one so will go on what I loved wearing most on holiday - white denim shorts and Hush breton and ever faithful GiGis
  2. What are you most looking forward to wearing AW (either new or rediscovering something in your wardrobe)? I cannot wait to wear my new grey Adidas Superstars (they make me smile each time I open my wardrobe), my leather skinnies, and my Whistles men's grey chunky knit.
shopafrolic · 26/08/2015 16:25

I need Voguette assistance. My hair is getting long (for me) - as hopefully Lib and Bernice will testify. I have no idea how to deal with long thick hair that is going grey
Can you share, what hairbrush you use (particularly if your hair is thick) - I have never really had to brush my hair before and the brush I have just won't cut it. And also any products you use to deal with frizz (I have dark coloured hair to hide the grey). This weather is not helping me as it grows out.

I would also like to know what people take their make up off with, and whether you all double cleanse?

Ta muchly Voguettes x

safetyzone · 26/08/2015 16:49

shop, have you used Mason Pearson brushes? I have thickish hair and think it's great.

I don't double cleanse - I have skin that dehydrates easily (even though it's super oily), and double cleanse aggravates it. I use Clinique's take the day off remover for eyes and then a foaming cleanser with flannel. I found out that you don't need a hot cloth cleanser to use a cloth, it still works!

BTW what are people's thoughts on culottes? I've seen a pair I like in Cos but I'm very short, I don't know if they'll suit me...
