Hello all. I have just joined Mumsnet (finally!) and like the idea of chatting about fashion and style. Took me about eleventy billion attempts to find a username that wasn't already taken and I nearly gave up in desperation.

I work in what you'd call a 'creative industry', only going into the office when I have to. My closet is full of clothes that reflect that- even some PJs although if I am working in those I will put a clean pair on after my morning shower otherwise my work suffers: it's as if the sloppy way I feel works its way out via my output.

Bearing in mind the current broo-ha on the site, I'm loath to offer too much personal info at the moment but hopefully as time goes on, I might remove this particularly paranoid stick from my ass Smile. However my favorite brands are slightly kooky ones alongside more slouchy classics for when I have to go out in public. I mix these up with what I call my 'Miss Priss' staples such as Reva flats or Tabitha Simmons pointies, slim fit pants, a nice cardi etc. I don't suit suits, shift dresses and anything too tailored. I don't suit deliberately sexy. I'm more Prada and Stella Jean than Cavalli and D&G although I do have some Christopher Kane and he isn't adverse to encouraging us to show a bit of skin.

Stokey · 24/08/2015 13:49

Welcome Capucine. is there anything you're particularly after for AW? Top of my hit list is jeans and coat. I don't think I can justify Hoxton Paiges unless I get 'em cheap somewhere so may try the GAP ones Amber likes. I just really need term to start so I can have some browsing time!

Sad I missed the gin love-in last night. There's an ace gin bar near me, would be a great venue for a MU except not very central, about 45 different varieties... all it serves is gin and cake, it is a small slice of heaven.

I need a new watch. My old Fossill one has just died. I know it has to be silver & metallic and around £200 mark. Anyone got any experience of MBMJ ones? I quite like this but do have birdlike wrists so it may be too chunky.

QueenofCardigans · 24/08/2015 14:20

Hello all. Feeling human again so I'm back Smile.
Ugh to gin. Can't believe you all like it so much.
Nipped into town today to get the last of back to school stuff I hope. Popped into gap and bought a sweatshirt which will be v useful for those days when I don't want to think about what to wear.

QueenofCardigans · 24/08/2015 14:23

sweatshirt.

Thanks lib for the outnet link. It's lovely but I need a long sleeved navy going out top.
stokey have you looked at skagen?

Capucine00 · 24/08/2015 15:12

Hello Stokey

I really need a good pair of boots. I always gravitate towards bikers, Chelsea and tukkas but would like to step away from the familiar. I have been mooning over a pair of lattice weave black leather Harley Ds with a small heel, very delicate for a biker in black or chestnut.

I also need some skirts and love the Ali Mcgraw cord knee length inverted pleat A line versions. That ochre yellow suede in Saturdays Guardian fashion was perfect apart from the suede bit. There'll be greasy fingerprints and ink marks on it by the end of day one.

I'd also like some of the new block heel Mary Janes, the ones which look like American Capezios, like dance MJs with a two strap and possibly in a pink, a shade somewhere between shell and flesh if you are Caucasian. I'd also like to get the pony skin leopard print ones I saw somewhere.

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2015 12:05

Hooray!

Welcome Capucine

QueenofCardigans · 25/08/2015 13:56

We're back on!

Stokey · 25/08/2015 14:52

Hooray, hope we're back to normal now.

I like that sweatshirt QueenC. Which colour did you get?

I really like those A-line skirts too Cappucine. We're watching the last season of Mad Men (no spoilers please) and have been craving geometric prints and jumpsuits. I'm taking DM shopping tomorrow so will see what's around.

I've just ordered the Boden silver Lille shoes. They've been reduced further so seemed rude not to, even though I definitely don't NEED them.

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 17:35

Welcome Capucine
Felt like I'd lost an arm last night without Vogue.
And Marsha just went to order the HL dress and it's sold out - no linking next time
Went to London today to meet to lovely Voguettes and their little ones - a miniVogue MU. DS loved it at the Transport Museum and the whole train / tube ride thing. Fun day - shame about the weather. What's everyone else been up to?

libertydoddle · 25/08/2015 17:37

Welcome capucine. Thank goodness we are back in.

Lovely sweater QueenC. Good purchase.

libertydoddle · 25/08/2015 17:39

Have a tired mini voguette here Smile. Transport museum is always a winner!

libertydoddle · 25/08/2015 17:40

Boo re the dress Sad

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 17:44

I know Lib right? You guys talked me into it and then it had gone!

libertydoddle · 25/08/2015 18:16

So annoying shop. Keep an eye on it in case there is a return.

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 18:52

I need a cardigan. Either long, no collar, no fastenings or chunky high neck asymmetric type thing. Charcoal or black. Is it too early? Can't find much.

Longislandicetee · 25/08/2015 19:02

Hello! okay i finally had an a/w thought.....I need long boots.

libertydoddle · 25/08/2015 19:23

shop might be too early. Have you looked in All Saints? They tend to always have good knitwear and I think their styles would really suit you.

novice more detail on the type of boots please. Smile

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 19:26

love this shame it's khaki

QueenofCardigans · 25/08/2015 20:06

shop ive just commented on pin. Knew i'd turn you to cardigans Wink.
Haven't done much today. The dc have played amazingly well together and were very well behaved when I took them for lunch. I wore a 3/4 length blouse and ballet flats. Wish I'd worn a vest and boots too!

Longislandicetee · 25/08/2015 20:08

Lib so I have these boots which I absolutely love but have moaned about them for the last 3 years because they cost me £195 but I keep having to get them resoled. So I would like these but in a more reliable version! I think what I like best is that they are slim fitting, round toed and low heeled.

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 20:08

Yeah but there's cardigans, and cardigans QueenC Grin

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 20:10

I have those Blingy very comfy when I was working - never wear them anymore...

AmberNectarine · 25/08/2015 20:11

Hello all

Shop I nearly bought the HL dress but didn't in the end as I already have it in 2 colours. Love it though

shopafrolic · 25/08/2015 20:14

Waves to Amber - how's your trip? Are you back? If you are that went way too quick.
So gutted I missed that dress. Should have bought it last night but I guess there'll be other chances. It's a slightly different style to 'our' red one though isn't it?

LinusLovesBretons · 25/08/2015 20:15

How about this shop?

Looks very cozy but maybe you want something more structured?
